@@mattdog6560 Angle was in his prime, all the rest were quite literally a year or two past theirs. Though all of them made a renaissance in the mid to late 2000s.
just look at these guys. they are the perfect example of what wrestling characters should be: all six of em have distinct backstories and appearances and you couldn't confuse any of them for any other of them. we need more of that today, more individuality in the characters, more arguments, feuds, drama.
I would argue silver age of wrestling. I grew up in the 80s/90s and Andre Hulk Undertaker Yokozuna Rick Flair Macho Man and so on will always be the golden age
The best thing about this match is that it's more than just a showcase of star power. Multiple storylines are being utilized & developed here for the next three PPVs or so: Austin's revenge against Triple H & Rikishi, Triple H as the #1 contender for Angle's title, Angle being defeated by The Rock as a preview, Rock vs Austin rivalry, the Brothers of Destruction reforming, that year's Royal Rumble, etc...
They can't do this kind of thing anymore. First they don't have these kind of stars, secondly the corporate culture of WWE has killed the soul of wrestling.
I STRONGLY DISAGREE! Being as famous as I am on RU-vid, I know that it gets hard to read every comment I get. I try my best, but I am just so famous, that I can't do it much longer. Sorry, dear pho
@@AxxLAfriku oh, it's the guy who pretends to have two girlfriends and actually thinks that it's good to have two gfs, my dude, you're not famous, just hated
During childhood, not knowing about bookings and storylines and believing all these were people with real actual animosities, fighting it out, was a surreal feeling as a viewer. What a memorable and blissful time.
I 100% agree with you but once again the audio was good but the video was horrible but I love to see that in a better view and that would be groundbreaking event to see that today cuz wrestling today sucks there's nobody worthwhile to root for nobody like Kane he's a mayor now in Tennessee but it was a good video for what it was worth
They had a matched similar to this in ATL at the Georgia Dome a few weeks later. It was lit I was there in person....Same story line (Austin and HHH could not touch each other)
This match shows that you dont need flying aerial moves... or springboard dives to make a tag team great . All u need is charisma, chemistry and storytelling skill 🥲

Man... Watching this match almost brings a tear to my eye. We didn't know good we had it growing up in the attitude era. This was a regular Thursday night. What a time to be alive!!
The crowd was into everything that was happening. This is what superstars look like. The fans popped for a couple of punches and a clothesline. What an era
Keep in mind though, this is pre-injury Triple H. It's that return period where he became pretty awful as time went on. 2002-2005 solo stuff was generally poor television (though Evolution stuff was decent) then after that, right in to the DX 2006 stuff. Yikes.
Word!! Something they just threw together. That's how great the attitude era was. Didn't matter who was out there.. Everything was popping. The singles, men/women, tag teams, and special matches.
@@garyv2498 the point is they were so desperate to sell Ppvs they made the weekly shows must see tv. Now with the network they make minimal effort to sell ppvs and the weekly shows are boring
Indeed yes :) Earlier of this ep of smackdown is ons of my fav moments when benoit does the crippler crossface to jericho and some refs coming out :) And also I Iiked the way benoit got into position for that submission move too :)
It honestly doesn't get any better. This was when my brother and I consistently watched WWF. Little did we know we were watching one of the best eras of wrestling ever. They were definitely tougher back then
Almost all the major heavyweights of the Attitude Era in one ring!!!! Those were the days!!! There was an overload of awesomeness!!! Unfortunately WWE will never be like this again 😔
Back in the era when the top stars would actually wrestler on weekly shows and the concept of 2 or 3 (or any) commericals during a match was unheard of.
Kurt Angle even taking Pedigree without hand release... Kind of hated him as a kid but nowadays I have to say he's the best all around wrestler. Delivery, receiving, pace, extreme moments, he had everything...
We all used to hate heels bcz we used to think that WWE is real but now we grew up and became mature and found that that this is not real we have respect in our hearts for these amazing performers
When I was a little kid I used to think that these legends will continue to fight forever. Little was I aware about the age factor at that age and moment. I miss their presence and these moments in the ring💔
@@eloisasantos4358 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂 life is always ever change I definitely know that. They have good spots nowadays but then bad it'll take sometime to get good but everyone has there own opinion
@@abis0757 it doesn't matter what he thinks (rock). Attitude era is the best and that's the bottom line cuz stone cold said so ( stone cold). Attitude era was the era of taking souls and digging holes (undertaker). If he oppose then suck it (dx)
The Good old days when only Dragon ball Z and Monday night RAW only mattered. Edith.. For the 1% hating.....Yes it's a Thursday smackdown espisode. It's ok. Truth is that WWF came up from RAW in mid 90s😎😎😎 Same as DBZ... Get a grip 😘
As much improved Smackdown became, but it was Raw which stole the Limelight. What matches. If WWE weren't too partial towards Undertaker we would have had even more competition in WWE.
Except this match didn't take place during the attitude era, this match took place during the ruthless aggression era, which was still a really good era.
I don't know from when you have started watching wrestling, but I can assure you that this was Attitude Era. Ruthless Aggression era started when the 4 faces of that era ie John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Batista and Randy Orton started to have more screen time and when Rock, SCSA stopped wrestling frequently, which happened in later half of 2002. I hope you remember that famous encounter between Cena and Angle where Cena uttered "Ruthless Aggression". That's the start.
@@aryksanchez5070 From WWEs perspective WM 17 is still Attitude Era. Many say the era ended after the invasion storyline or after WWF became WWE in May 2002.
@@Aqib2 Idk from what I understand the whole American Badass persona for undertaker was all ruthless aggression era. Though i would labled it as soon as wcw ended that was the end of the attitude era.
ToastyBB I’m aware of it, and WWE Network isn’t a channel, it’s a subscription based service. I’m talking about if WWE had a cable channel that randomly showed episodes of classic RAW and Smackdown and even PPV’s without you having to buy WWE Network, it would be apart of your cable package.
every single person in this ring have their own persona, carisma, character, even their outfit having a different style to represent their character...
The way Triple H takes the stunner at the end is my favorite sell of it. Not super over the top like rock and Shawn Michaels did it and makes the move seem brutal.
When people sell the pedigree they sometimes use their legs and knees to try and cushion the landing, or they even release their arms. Meanwhile Angle sold that pedigree with nothing but his face, what a legend.
Such a legend, and to think he had to retired early because of serious back injury. Maybe because of his determination to sell that to audience that made the injury so serious.
i got so emotional after watching this match... i remember my childhood when I wait for the whole week to watch the WWF.... days which can never ever come back... good memories... legends live forever... no smartphones no fucknn insta no facebook... only humans and their company to live together....
True wrestling will never be the same. I waited a whole week to know what was gonna happen, that was half the fun. Now I'm getting the match results and spoilers on Insta sometimes before the episode, what's the point of watching it then?
@@advocateshivambhardwaj9547 Yeah! Like recently I was looking forward to CM Punk vs Adam Page, then started getting posts about Punk winning the title. Why would I watch it now?? Haha
@@jaysaxton7258 Like When Taker refuse to tag Rock, when he refuse to versus his brother. Like the way HHH do a first slow down count when Stone cold try to pin Angle, at the end, after the stunner, and then when ROck et Stone cold watch eachother right in the eye etc... Nowadays, it's just "You're heel so you make sneaky move and don't tag the face." (until a hot tag for the face to comeback in the match, predictible and boring) that's it. and special guest referee is always an 1v2 match, look at Triple H, he've done one first slow down but after, he's just like a normal referee until Angle use him as a bulldozer and even after Stone cold punch him, he've done the pin for his team properly.
Yes Undertaker and Kane were awesome too Just saying that the Rock Austin staredown was awesome Especially since they main evented Wrestlemania that year again for the second time.
