Maybe I'm creating some issues by editing in both RAS mapper and the Geometric Data view but I can't seem to be able to resolve an error for unsteady flow saying I have no upstream cross-section for my reach. My model is similar with a 1D main channel and a 2D flood plain but I added a lateral structure which seems to have created the issue but I haven't found the link. How do I add an upstream XS reference for my river reach? I thought it was automatic when I set up the 1D model as you explained here.

For the terrain, I can't get the terrain data. I've been told to use data sources for the UK - National River Flow Archive and OS Terrain 50. However, the data from OST50, does not give me a terrain image for myself to start the model. Do you have any suggestions please?

Have you tried using the Download Terrain Data option that is built into HEC-RAS? It allows you to download USGS terrain for your current model extents.

This is a very nice introduction. How can we add 1D geometry after that 2D flow area in this case? Also if I have model like this, i.e., 1D geometry with small parts in between has 2D flow area; but later on, I want to replace that 2D flow area with 1D geometry, how can we do this?

I need a help!! At the 34th minute when you open the geometry date and the cross sections and DEM appear there. When I did not appear, I pulled the terrain in the option 'select layer...' but only the DEM came without the cross sections. What could have happened? I'm doing in a reservoir, is the area too big?

It is likely due to not having an associated projection file with the project. Another thing to try would be to open and close the project.
