Excellent piece of Japanese business practices in 1970's. If the sons are 27 and 29 back in 1973, they must be age 75 and 77 in 2021. Maybe their grandchildren run the business now.

Just now reading John Nathan’s autobiography that talks about this film at some length. Wonderful to be able to see it here. Many thanks.

Thank you! This is the Part 1 of Nathan's trilogy about the japanese. Rather hard to find it. Never saw the other two parts -- Blind Swordsman and Farm Song.

Impressive! I am moved by Mr Sugiura's character and devotion to the family business. I believe he's dead already... I hope his son made business still prosper.

Thanks for watching! yeah, I'm inclined to believe that their parents already passed away, and their children must be very old themselves by now)

lf time travel was possible, l bet 1970s Japan would be flooded with time travelers.

2020s Japan is not so different from 1970s Japan. Everything stopped in time when the bubble burst

@@stephenbachmann1171 The current market capitalization of the Japanese stock market is more than double what it was during the bubble period. The net profits of Toyota, Sony, Honda, and others in 2024 also reached record highs. Large-scale urban development is also underway in Tokyo and Osaka.
