Hello again just watched your video again.dont remember if I told you before.if you need a new oil drain plug get gy6 parts under £3 full set eBay . They also sell O rings can't remember size but about 30/32 mm very cheap.also remember to replace the o ring if damaged.i would never pour oil without measure jug first stops all the overfilled problem.might be a idea to tip the scooter to get more oil out. Don't forget lefty loosely.righty tightly. Remember the drain plug don't need to be to tight The o ring will hold it. Good luck Peter

Hello.as for tools can I recommend aldi just bought a set of sockets and screw bits on line about £12 guaranteed for 3 years. If you spend £30 post free or go in store. Sign up for lidi and aldi on line for bargains when they come out. as for laying on the floor as I am getting old 64 I use a cheap petbed zipped end. from the market about £4 then add extra foam.cut to size with my wife's electric carvery knife (don't let them catch you.)

Just found out the spark plug is deep in the engine cover.dont try and remove it with a normal spark plug tool it .i did that that on my scooter had to remove the engine cover. It falls out!!i brought a magnetic plug tool about £6 stops it falling in the cover. And a lot of work.

A good warts and all video. When you are topping up the oil you could use your syringe for the final topping up. A extension bar would also make things a bit easyer also.

Get the engine at running temperature before draining. it thins the oil ,flows better and prevents some of the sludgey deposits remaining in the sump with your nice new oil. i would get a can of heat resistant paint on that exhaust and manifold too, itl last a lot longer . maybe give a couple of dabs of paint on the vulnerable brackets and frame parts underneath. surface rust often accelerates if not addressed especially on chinese built machines

@@RoyalAlloyRider no problem,good chanel. ive had classic lambrettas and vespas and have a geared classic smallframe vespa now. i had a scomadi a few years ago (same as RA) but hated the 4stroke engine and having no gears to change so i got rid of it after a few months . i must be an old school glutton for cables,spanners and swearing in lay bys. Good luck with it though. im sure your vids are helping new riders of modern 4stroke scooters on the scene today who are starting out with little mechanical knowledge.

Hello I have been thinking about your next job.changing the cvt belt. First I would watch a you tube video by Steve dub dub called royal alloy gt 125 scomadi change roller weights. Might save you some money on buying tools like torque wrench, variator holding tool. Y shape ebay £10.99 .if you find your scooter speed had gone down or judders that's due to the roller weights getting flat spots.so you need to change them quite cheap. Also the outer spacers ,But watch which way around in the variator they are the (weights ). Different ends.you must have a variator locking tool of some sort or you will never undo the nut .I suggest you mark the nut with a sharpie so you know when to tighten to when doing it up.make sure you clean out the inside of the variator with brake cleaner so the rollers can move about.i would also get a piece of card with number holes for the cover bolts as some may be different lengths. Dont forget if the old belts still good condition (no cracks) keep it as a spare. Good luck. Peter

@@RoyalAlloyRider hello if i haven't said already when you open the belt cover.there will be a lot of belt dust which also makes a noise use compressed air from poundland blows all the small bits out.wear a mask.and spray with brake cleaner. Make sure the arrows on the belt face the same way.when replaced Good luck.

Hello again.two things.i noticed your bike battery on the outside.the other royal alloy sites mentioned problems getting new battery's back in.seems after you wire them in you have to put it back at a angle. Or it won't fit. Second which I only found out about recently if getting the spark plug out or in is a bit tight try I piece of rubber hose 9mm id go's over the end of the spark plug much easier to get it out when loose and also start the threads also don't forget a bit of copper grease.as everything from China or the far east nut/bolts are prone to rust or seizing.good luck Peter
@RoyalAlloyRider
@RoyalAlloyRider 2 года назад
The battery is easy enough to get in and out once you suss out the correct angle. Yes there is a knack to it.🛵👍 Great tips again.

Hello just been rewatching the oil change video.cant remember if I told you the drain plug & filter the same as gy6 engine from China very cheap on e bay don't forget to change the o ring as the drain plug only needs to be just nipped up to the o ring.i bought about 20 eBay much cheaper than OEM.

Hello if you need any oil drain nuts or filters / springs please message me I have a few spares.inc the rubbers seals. Std gy6 parts. Happy to post them to you.i would also recommend when you empty the oil tip the bike towards you gets a few 100ml out.i still think you need to paint your exhaust heat proof paint. There not cheap to replace.remember you don't need the oil nut to tight as the o ring holds the oil in remember the old saying lefty loosely right tightsey lol. Peter

@@RoyalAlloyRider good one.offer still on don't need them as sold my Peugeot django. gy6 parts .if your going to change the belt check if you need anything to lock the clutch or variator. Until you do change it I recommend you carry it with you as someone on Facebook said they last 4/5000 miles you must be near that by now. Remember to check the torque of the nuts last thing you want is they undo.makes a right mess.can I advise you any bolts you take-off put copperslip on stops them seizing. Peter⁸

I know you have good intentions but this is not how you drain the oil and you are giving folks bad advice. Draining this way DOES NOT get all the oil out. There is the actual drain plug on the left side (opposite of the muffler). Should be gold in color. What you are removing is the screen filter plug. 1. Open up the oil fill cap to give it air 2. Remove the actual drain plug and drain oil 3. Tighten drain plug back on 4. Remove the oil screen plug and clean screen. 5. Tighter Screen Filter plug 6. Fill with 3/4 of the qt or 750ml 7. Tighten fill cap dip stick. 8. Run engine 9. Test oil level from dip stick. Again I know you mean well but you are messing folks up with this video.

Hi Dave, thank you for your comment and thank you for sharing your knowledge. That's exactly what this channel is all about. Firstly, none of my videos are "How To" videos. It's simply me sharing every aspect of my journey in scootering, as a complete newbie. I think all my videos make that pretty clear, and even on my videos where I am attempting maintenance tasks, I make it clear that its my first ever attempt. The idea is to share the good the bad and the ugly. I hope my videos entertain, and educate, and the videos where I make mistakes are without doubt the most educational, for myself, and also for the channels viewers. There are many viewers with knowledge and greater experience (such as yourself), who regularly comment on the videos, and I hope that this is where the real value of the channel is for other newbies, in the knowledge bombs within the comments section. With regard to the gold plug to which you are referring that drains the oil, I have checked under the scoot, there is definitely no additional engine oil drain plug which I can see. Please can you provide more details, maybe a reference to a Royal Alloy parts diagram for this model ? I've checked but cant see it. Maybe i'm missing the obvious ! Mine is a GT125 Euro 4 2019 model. Every video out there, and i'm sure also tens of thousands of scooterists are draining there GY6 based scooter engines the same way. So we would all be grateful if you can please provide any more info on the correct method. Thanks in advance. and thanks for watching.👍🛵
