Iori must be the most popular butler in this cafe. Every time I see a video of this specific Cafe, it's Iori who is on screen. Or maybe he is the most confident to be in a video like this. Either way, he is amazing, and I love his creative answers and roleplay ~
I’m genuinely impressed with the Butler Cafe, their English afternoon tea looks authentic. Unlike other themed restaurants which do crappy food, theirs look like real food that taste good.
I would love to visit a Butler Cafe; the atmosphere looks truly imnersive. Maid cafes are a bit too... extravagent for my preferences. Iori's roleplaying is of a high caliber. I can scarcely imagine all the experiens he, and his peers, have gone through to attain such mastery of their craft.
The Swallowtail Butler Café is amazing -but once I saw 'the very hungry caterpillar' book in the background, I could only focus on that- and I would love to go there.
I'm old school for my favorite anime, Urusei Yatsura, the original from the 80s. The new version that started airing earlier this year is pretty good, too.
Nice! Lum is still a very popular cosplay at cons. (I wonder how many of those young ladies have seen the original lol) Did they remove Megane-kun from the remake? Haven't seen him yet.
There were a couple of anime characters that recreated and/or reorganized the structure of my brain. When I saw Totoro the first time, I was like, "... what the heck is going to happen here?" Then when the catbus showed up, my hair stood up and my mind was officially blown. There was also a radish in Spirited Away named Oshira-sama that I can't stop thinking about because I had a dream about a white radish like that. So totally random and not related to your fun time in the video.. ha ha. But some of those characters go deep into the soul for some of us, for whatever reason.
I really liked this video and I like that you and your producers are trying new and different things around Japan. That butler cafe looked like a really unique experience. And you looked so pretty in this video. Very cute dress.
Thanks Japan By Food for another fantastic episode ! I never knew there are Butler Cafes in Japan only heard of the Maid ones. Fav anime I have to say Demon Slayer . I wonder what is Shizuka's fav ? 🤔 Cheers .
I'm not advocating this mind you, but if you were going to start a drinking game and take a shot for every time Shizuka says cute or adorable in this episode I am fairly sure I could not last the first segment. :)
Demon Slayer hands down my favorite current anime! And Shizuka.. hands down my favorite host! She's always keeping it real. Now where is the horse practice footage? :)
27/1/24 ( Saturday ) 6.40 pm. Sanrio cafe was cute but... empty. Anime goods store was average but the Swallowtail Butler Cafe was at least a notch above those 2, with well mannered Butler and fine decorated interior.
Stayed in Ikebukuro for four days a few years ago but never knew these places existed! BTW - at 4:04, the girl on the left could be your long lost sister!
As an introvert I don't think the butler cafe is for me. It's too much attention from rather refined butlers (and me there in jeans and tennis shoes!) 😅
It's not fair that men have different variation from cute and pretty girls cosplaying while working while women have this... the difference in the appearance department is just mindboggling... why would I pay or even bother to go so such cafe with ugly or mediocre men?
Oh wow, i haven’t been to Japan since 2005, and didn’t realize how much they ramped up the anime presence in Ikebukuro. I even stayed a week in a hotel there, but it was mainly known as an office type area at the time and a bit more staid. Even Sunrise City was a bit sparse for anime fans. Would love to visit Ikebukuro again to see how much it has changed in 2 decades!
I love this channel. Can you guys do a video focusing on Unagi? It’s one of my favorite things to eat. Also, Shizzy is the best host. She’s great at explaining everything while making it accessible and fun.
Great job asking the staff questions! A simple yet profound boost to the production quality. I'm a massive fan of afternoon tea by the way and live in London where some of them get extremely pricey. I'd say the only adjustment I'd make with what was shown in the video is just to have normal English tea with the food. There's nothing quite like a cup of tea with scones. Some of the tea places in London give you unlimited everything!!
I can only imagine the course the butlers must go through to refine their keigo. Understanding is one thing and konbini keigo is no problem. But there are levels haha. 何よりも素敵と言うならしずかさんのドレスのほう見事でしたよ!
it felt so formal, and not only the vocabulary but his enunciation and pitch accent / overall speech patterns were on a royal level 🤩 I want to learn how to speak that well
Shizuka thanks for sharing this nice video. I'm sitting here in the dark with no electricity do to the tropical storm that hit southern California. It was nice passing some time with you.
This video was awesome for a anime fan like me. If I visit the anime goods store I would probably buy something from Dragon Ball and Pokémon since these are my all time favorites. The butler cafe treating you as royalty seems like a very enjoyable experience, and the food looked really delicious.
I loved this video. Never knew Ikebukuro was an anime area. I would've loved to check this place out during my visit. One of the many reasons why I look forward to your videos. Thank you Shizuka for sharing this.
I probably would go for a Butler Cafe even if i am a man, because i found the Maid ones a little too... well, cheesy and otaku oriented. Meanwhile the Butlers they looks and behave like gentlemen, and i would love to be among real gentlemen. At least just once. But im thankful that the Maid cafe exist because once a great artist worked here and had the bizzare idea to make a rockband dressed like maids. Viva Miku, Viva *BAND-MAID* !! Greatest rock band in the world.
You are the epitome of a Princess🧝🏽♀️ Your smile and sense of awe in the cafe made the video that much more enjoyable!! Keep up the great work; love to see your enthusiasm….🌹
Aaahh I’ve always wanted to visit this butler cafe ever since I saw this location featured in a Japanese romcom movie. But the reservation process looks too complicated for my small brain 🥲
With afternoon tea, the one that's eaten first is the one at the bottom..then you make your way up. I'd say the butler cafe Shizuka visited is even better than some of the afternoon tea places I've had in London since they don't usually call their customers "your majesty" or "m'lady." I need that Pikachu clock though. I can't seem to find it on Google so I may have to return to Japan.😅
I've had afternoon tea at both ends of the spectrum in London. The casual ones like family owned shops or perhaps just small establishments in parks. However Fortnam and Mason was exquisite! The service is great and all the food and drink is eat as much as you like. Cakes too outside of the tea set are included. At the end of it all the sugar overload was too much 😂😂.
Some guys asked me why butlers cafés? The rococo decor along with french style pastries and chandeliers are related to a classic shoujo manga/anime series of enormous sucess called The Rose of Versailles. This anime featured a captivating romantic hero named André, who was the devoted butler/bodyguard to his Lady Oscar, a noblewoman raised as a man during the French Revolution. This story originated that enduring romantic fantasy since the 1970's, where butlers became idealized princes charmings in Japan.
Happy to hear about Lashinban (it's Japanese for _compass_ , by the way) for once. Probably one of my favorite secondhand anime goods shops. You won't find a bargain there like in the more maniac stores like Mandarake, but they are almost everywhere you can find an Animate, and those in turn are everywhere around Japan, and they won't rip you off on the cheap prize figures like a lot of the stores targeting tourists in the "otaku" areas will. I still want them to release a figure of their mascot, though.
Nope not an actress Canadian Japanese very part time RU-vidr😅 turned TV personality and host. Shizuka Anderson she can sing too her channel has like couple of vidz of her singing.
This video was awesome for a anime fan like me. If I visit the anime goods store I would probably buy something from Dragon Ball and Pokémon since these are my all time favorites. The butler cafe treating you as royalty seems like a very enjoyable experience, and the food looked really delicious.
we have alot of those anime doll shops here in LA. Lots of them in Torrance and Gardena. Where the majority japanese live. But it's always the korean version cuz more koreans...
My introvert self could not 😂 I don’t know why I cringe I’m sure it’s a nice experience but maybe cause I been served my professional butlers before so 😅
When I see a video about Ikebukuro, I half expect to see a Russian sushi restaurant and a headless motorcycle rider (Durarara! refence lol). My favorite anime is a 3 way tie- Gundam 0080, Megalobox and Legend of the Galactic Heroes. edit: Macross DYRL, To Your Eternity, Vinland Saga and Cyberpunk Edgerunners are right up there as well (mecha/seinen otaku desu)
By the way, as someone who also has family in the tropics, have fun with that very painful constipation, Esteban. That mango is incredibly underripe. I thought you knew this. For those of you who don't know: an edible, ripe mango is a deep orange in colour.
Underripe? What are you talking about. Not all mangoes needed to be deep orange to be fully ripe. Get a passport and try out mangoes from other countries.
