Pure perfection, might be the greatest drive through Ouhninpohja ever, watching the times live was absolutely shoking, seeing the pace of Kalle while driving with such ease, shame he crashed but he can be proud with his performance this rally.

Watched the stage live on broadcast and seeing Kalle gradually getting faster by 2, 3, and 4 seconds with every split I was like "WRC's RU-vid channel better release the full onboard of this run" and here we have it. Absolutely cracking run especially in the final two splits on the narrow forest section after the "grandstand" crowd area, pure commitment through that. Shame that Kalle once again cannot cap off this performance by winning the entire event but I'll take this run over anything else that weekend. _Now, how will Neuville bottle this championship with Ogier basically declaring to run the rest of the season?_ 😅

Nah sorry mate I'd rather see these drivers dancing against the haybales, it's an art, it's a spectacle, part of things that I love about rally. Suddenly stopping for nothing to me is equivalent to the gimmicky formula E attack mode stuff
@TheJokerit19
@TheJokerit19 Месяц назад
@@macheerou More akin to yellow flagging in circuit racing, & while I see your point, this virtual alternative is more practical as it doesn't require moving haybales or other physical objects to special stage roads & off them, & doesn't risk anyone hitting anything that could cause damage, so I assume VC will become standard over time, even if it could be done in a way that doesn't force drivers to briefly look away from the road.
@DannyPlaysStuff
@DannyPlaysStuff Месяц назад
The commentary mentioned that the main reason of implementing VC aside from safety reason (obviously) is that in case of someone that's ahead of the road order happens to knock down a part of physical chicane and thus making it less tighter for everyone behind them and gain significant times. Virtual Chicane is a way to make sure everyone is equally on the level footing throughout the entire stage and prevent such thing to happen in the first place. People are bemoaning this nonstop over social media with the same, clueless "oH tHiS kiLLs tHe sPiRiT oF RaCiNg" response like dude, there's only one of this across the entire 34km of the stage and this Rally1 cars are basically as fast as the old Group B cars, you want the drivers to die or something? I'd rather have one VC in here rather than never getting Ouninpohja again.

I enjoy this dash view
@zwjna
@zwjna Месяц назад
The camera behind the seats is not the best to watch the driving and analyze it. That's why drivers generally prefer these front-right dashcams when they have to fit the onboard cameras themselves on regional rallies or anything like that. This dashcam allows one to see the road in great detail (different materials, stones, rocks, ruts, camber, banks, etc.) and shows very well the weight transfer and overall chassis movements/body roll of the car, whether it's induced by the driver as a driving technique or by the car just merely reacting to the elevation changes or roughness of the road. Although in this video we have the face and pedal cameras covering the dashboard, which is important to see to have as much reference of the car as possible in order to properly understand its sideways angle and everything else. Great still.

Braking before a jump is to "tie down" the car onto the road before the jump. The suspension compresses and the car leaves the crest in a way that the driver desires. Also on some occasions jumping too far may result into damaging the car or upsetting its balance on landing.
