When they calmly proceed to tell a rambling story about every minute thing they did and thought but never grief stricken or upset about what horror they "found",it's a lie and that's how the cops trip up most killers of family... The story always changes slightly over time.

bigbadbruins1 oh goodness. No no no. They in fact were not and from the perspective of investigative tactics etc. no. They did a good job. They’re simply gathering info at this point to establish any changes in info , they have plenty of circumstantial evidence and solid evidence at that point and were simply establishing time lines to line up or against the forensic evidence or any eye witness testimony etc. I know the average person outside law enforcement may not understand why things are carried out a certain way and other things not questioned or emphasized but there’s soooo much more that goes into this that you perhaps realize.

David Smith Good point. It’s hard to say, isn’t it? Those pauses and them looking away while writing just might encourage him to talk - or them looking right at him with “awkward silences” might encourage him to talk too huh! However, if they have to take notes straight away, perhaps one detective can be assigned to be the scribe while the other just interviews him 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m pretty sure these interviews will be transcribed and indexed in any event.
