You've never worked in a bar/restaurant have you? A good server/bartender in St. Louis can pull $100-300+ during a six hour shift. And only about 6% of cash tips have to be reported on taxes. They don't want the paycut that would come with a minimum/living wage. And yes, tipping is out of control. It should only apply to people who provide an actual service. It should not apply to cashiers/fast food/ take out window workers, they make min. wage or better. It's nice but shouldn't be expected.
