Running between Stourbridge Junction and Stourbridge Town, the Stourbridge branch is the shortest railway line in Britain.
Originally built by the Great Western Railway in 1879, the line originally connected to the Stourbridge Canal and catered for goods traffic as well as passengers.
Listed for closure by Beeching, the line managed to survive - albeit without its goods traffic - and remains profitable to this day.
The line is currently operated by a pair of Parry People Movers (TOPS class 139), one to run and one as a spare.
The line lost 70 yards in length in 1979 when the original Stourbridge Town GWR station was demolished to make way for a new bus station. The present Stourbridge Town station building dates from 1994.
