I have the same bag, but in Army green, with a grey canvas lining and gun metal hardware. The shoulder strap is permanently on it. It’s beautiful and perfect for me to use everyday

I think it depends on when you wanna use it & how much stuff you need it to fit! The look is very similar so I’d just go with the one that practically makes more sense. I’d say the shoulder bag is more of a party/evening bag and the hobo is more like the mother goose bag you can throw anything in.
I think a smaller one yes, but the biggest one would not allow the zipper to close. The dimensions of the bag are: Length: 11.25" Height: 9.25" Width: 3.5" So you can measure your iPad. Keep in mind that the zipper 'dips' in the middle and is not straight. Good luck!
