The most thing disturbing about this attraction is that it’s shorter than a Tictoc video. I didn’t realize it was so short and I’ve been on it many times. Love the update though. Tiger Lily’s new color scheme is gorgeous
A shame the chief isn't present. He was just as important a character from the movie as Tiger Lilly was. They could have at least toned back some of the more stereotypical design elements like the literal red skin and exaggerated headdress. I'd prefer a more politically correct cheif than no chief.
all the comments about how this is a downgrade just break my heart. oh woe is you that indigenous peoples are more accurately represented... cry me a river, this is a nice revision.
Fun fact, most native Americans don’t get offended that easily over something like this. In fact, if their overwhelming support for the Red Skins team name had any indication, they probably liked the original designs and characters. Though like a lot of things, it had to be changed because some white people decided once again that they had to be offended on other people’s behalf.
@@olive_liverno but the internet exists outside of your White liberal Disney castle. If you actually explored the united states outside of your suburbs youd understand life better but you dont.
Ironically they're not really native Americans, since they weren't in America. They're Native Neverlandians, and apparently there's people that know of these magical beings from Neverland personally and it upset them to know that their imaginary Native Neverlandian friends were being misrepresented.
@@Thrice1337 The scene portrayed native american people as caricatures, all of them - besides Tigerlily - had stern faces, a very common and harmful stereotype. In the film, they were repeatedly referred to as "redskins", an offensive term, and Peter, the lost boys, and Wendy, John, and Michael all wore headdresses and danced, which is a kind of mockery of their culture. This redesign is an attempt to modernize the ride and remove the stereotype without completely removing the existence of the tribe or tearing the ride itself down.
This has no resemblance to Tiger Lily. The racist retheme will obviously not last forever when Iger and his trolls get kicked out. Nothing stays gone forever.
It doesn't flow with the rest of the ride and a similar overall tribe color was the bare minimum they could do to make them look like their movie counterparts. It's eye catching due to its out of placeness. Want me to keep going, or is that already too many words for you?
@@punxsydawn okay nope you got me there, I see what you’re saying. They could’ve lessened the intensity of the color/made it fit with the original movie. I do not disagree with you now, thanks
Oh come on! What’s next? Remove the Hell scence in Mr Toad’s Wild Ride and swap it with the pearly gates of heaven? I know Disney wants to be more politically correct with all those representative moments, but really? First the complete spit in the eye of Princess and the Frog fans failure that was Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and now this? Come on, Disney! This is going to far! I hope you guys don’t remove the Hell scence from Mr Toad’s Wild Ride! That scence is the most iconic scence in the entire ride! And it will be a disgrace if you removed it! Also, if that’s the case, then why don’t you guys remove the scence where Captain Hook is being eaten alive by a crocodile while Mr Smee rows the boat on the opposite direction? In your words, that scence would be to “scary for the little kids” so, why wouldn’t you remove that scence but changed the scence with the Native Americans just because you are being criticized because of racism? Are you going to remove this ride and change it the same way you closed Splash Mountain just to make that terrible Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride? Stop trying to be perfect Disney! 😠
I don't know for sure either. I loved the song, but I think some people were taken back by the word "Injun" and such as it's kind of a slur. It all comes down to people letting things get under their skin that they probably shouldn't let get under their skin. I didn't sense any malice behind the song and thought it was funny and catchy.
The native American scene doesn't even match the rest of the ride now. The Chef was awesome, something right out of the history books, way to go Disney, you ruined it. You took Tiger Lilly out, too. 2 manor characters. So sad.
Why this dated crap has hour+ long waits every day I'll never know. The whole thing needs ripping out and replaced in the much more modern style of Shanghai Disneyland's version or the new Fantasy Springs Peter Pan ride at Tokyo Disney.
Maybe, I kinda agree, but yk what would happen? People would complain! They’d say “the original was better! No need to replace! They just want more money!” But here we are 🫤
I think the older style of dark rides is actually more relaxing and immersive. I don't like all the screens they put on rides nowadays. Shanghai version has its perks don't get me wrong
That does not look like Tiger Lily, the face is all wrong and the outfit is way off. They shouldn’t have changed it. They should’ve just left it alone, I’m offended by this change lol, they should have kept the chief in the ride because he’s a prominent character in the movie
Another one ruined. Insanity. Can’t wait to see what’s ruined next Disney man what a disaster it’s become. They should write a movie about themselves would be a good show of how to collapse a company and empire and how to ruin “one man’s dream”
@@SxyChicDisney uh oh here we go. I don’t know maybe because the scene removed was in the movie how about that and has been there since 1971 and you can clearly see the ridiculous turntable they don’t even care enough anymore to make a legit effort when “updating” something.
