5:16 Not a dev, but do know how to read HoI4 event code. In one of the events of the Leopold path, Asinti and Silver Star have their nationality set to SOL (Solar Empire). Considering the comment on this event "#will finish in moment", I'm guessing shunting them to another country was probably intended as some kind of temporary solution for keeping the commanders alive, since "retiring" a character removes them from the game completely. As for why Solar Empire specifically was chosen for this... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It’s because the Solar Empire tag isn’t used for the Solar Empire. Rather, Equestria (EQS) gets a new tree if Daybreaker is in charge, which may be a country flag change (though I am not a coder so I cannot confirm). I remember reading that the SOL tag is a graveyard tag that is never used, so a lot of things get shunted there.

@@Zopelleganger Yep, Solar Empire is just the EQS tag with the EQS_SOL cosmetic tag, and various things like national focuses + decisions being shown/hidden based on the "is_EQS_SOL" condition being "yes". Considering the Lunar side being its own tag and older, I assume something similar was done early on in Solar Empire's development, but ended up dummied out, and now the tag just gets used as hammerspace storage. Though it is amusing that they never renamed the SOL tag in the localization from "Solar Empire" to something like "Hammerspace, report if you see this", resulting in weirdness like the video shows.
