My friends, tonight we're doing a full acrylic/enamel treatment on this heavily rusted-out Conqueror. We'll even utilize some old-school techniques such as dry-brushing!

You must be really enjoying the finishing techniques on this model. This tank subject is probably the epitome of your style -- heavy, gnarly, and rusty as hell!

I'd like to see a diorama of a tank getting pulled out of a mudhole, if you think that would be fun. Lots of opportunity for heavy mud and water effects including super deep ruts, footprints, hand prints, filthy straps and chains, and the crew all doing unique tasks... Would be a ton of work but it's something you would excel at.

Trumpeter makes the wheeled wrecker and I thought about a diorama like that even with the m88 could have a m113 to pull out

Advice for dealing with Oil paint; once you use the cardboard to absorb the 'excess' linseed oil move it to a non absorbant surface such as a plastic lid. When you need to stop between sessions cover the paint with a couple layers of 'Cling Wrap" and then move it into the fridge. The cold will severely slow the oxidation time as will the cling wrap, you should also put it into plastic 'Ziplock" style bag to prevent tainting any food stuffs. I have been doing this for decades with large art palettes and it even works with paint that has been mixed with alkyd drying agents. P.S Im no longer a modeler, but I do really enjoy the process; especially the dioramas.

I stick paint brushes in bags in the fridge all the time when I don't want to wash them but know I need them again soon. It works great!

67 years on the planet, modeling for 57 and my stuff still looks like I pulled the kit out of the box, used an entire tube of Testor's plastic cement to assemble and forgo paint, cause it's molded in "olive drab". Ah well, if nothing else you are an inspiration and have a skill set others can strive for.

It's almost scary what weathering can do to your model. My first attempt at post-shading was on a Stryker, which is just green. Turned out great technically, but I mixed too much yellow into the highlight mix. Looked like very unhealthy pee. I gave it a dot-filter with yellow, light blue and medium green anyways, and it changed everything! My slightly-too-dark-green base color became much more vibrant and the pee-yellow turned back into an actual green. Now the color is almost spot on! I was expecting to repaint the thing, but a happy accident fixed it.

A tragic scene (dead bodies optional) including a completely destroyed tank would be a dark theme (suitable as a halloween piece) that would be thrilling to see you build. It probably sounds horrific but it would be sadly VERY authentic. Just an idea, Martin.

If that setting is going to involve a building for this hulking barge, I believe you need to add the two Davids from the Tank Museum, Martin. Both Mr. Fletcher and Mr. Willey. David Fletcher will give it a scathing review and David Willey will ponder on the reasons for actually having such an armored behemoth in your collection. 😂 Cheers.

Very nice job on the rust. A lot of times you can revitalize old paints by adding a base to it. Flat or gloss or whatever. Usually, it only works one time; though. Then you have to chunk it. But it does help to get the very last use out of a favorite paint. I like that streaking winter grime you used.

I mostly paint figures, and prime white so that magical effects will properly glow when I put fluorescent paints on them. So I start with a dark wash over the primer, just to help show the shapes. And I may end up doing 2-3 more washes as I work on areas, just to keep the panel lines.
