I thought Singapore would be very expensive for groceries (not just housing and vehicles) since food are mostly imported from around the world. I was pleasantly surprised to see most items are quite reasonable (in comparison to Canada), except for the cereal and meat section which cost way more than Canada. I was also surprised to see that they sell alcohol drinks in the supermarket which is not allowed in Canada.

QC & BC do allow sales of wine in the supermarket.

In 2015, B.C. government's liquor control and licensing branch amended its policies to allow wine on grocery shelves under two models: wine on the shelf, or a store within a store. However, Vancouver voted to reject on-the-shelf sales in 2018, and allow only the “store-within-a-store” model. @@wnose

As a Malaysian, food prices in Singapore is surprisingly cheaper than in Malaysia due to their stronger SGD. to put into perspective, SGD50 can fill up a full trolley of groceries, while RM50 can only get you 3 items.

Most things are more expensive in Singapore in terms of groceries as compared to Europe and Australia from my experience. Most notably, the meat/ frozen section (eg. fries, ice cream etc), cheese and snacks (although we usually get them cheaper in budget stores like Value$ which imports them from neighbouring countries which is cheaper.

actually doritos taco flavor was the original flavor by doritos in the beginning for the usa... they brought it back by popular demand... tho idk how it tastes compared the singaporean version... u have to look for the import logo to have the true blue original one

The Coca Cola is cheaper in Singapore than the UK but the crisps are dearer. The food is cheaper than what I was expecting.

Things you saw at the Singapore supermarket are consider very cheap compared with Switzerland and UK where prices are insane.

UK tbh is alright, I spend lesser than in terms of groceries than in Singapore, plus the ice cream there is so much cheaper (by like 40-50%).

That's why due to the favorable exchange rate, Singaporeans go to Johor Bahru to eat, pump full tank of petrol, car wash, cut hair, massage and grocery shop. Actually, the local wet markets are cheaper than supermarkets in Singapore.

Not everything in Singapore more expensive in region. In your video, 5 dragon fruit = SGD 4.5, in Indonesia Indomaret fresh 1 dragon fruit = IDR 30k= SGD 3.because logistic cost inter Island in Indonesia more expensive than all cost from Malaysia to Singapore. But 90% other item in Singapore more expensive than Indonesia (mineral water, personal care, poultry, rice, petrol, gas, snack, beverages etc)

@@kushal809expensive by absolute price, but cheap by wage-to-price ratio. Average Singaporean can buy an iPhone, not that it is a big deal but something of relatively similar prices everywhere, in 2 weeks. What about you other Asian countries?

due to strong SGD, singaporeans have no problem filling up a trolley of imported goods in just less than SGD 70. Thai baht or Ringgit can never do that.
