Full Size Replica Spitfire F Mk IX Lands in Guildhall SQ Southampton 17/02/18 

Spitfire lands in Guildhall Square.
A replica full size Supermarine Spitfire F Mk IX, was in Guildhall Square Southampton for 2 days so I went to see it on the 17th of February, it was here as part of the opening celebrations of Southampton's new theatre which is just opposite the Guildhall Square.
The Spitfire, was provided by Lytham St Annes Spitfire Display Team nr Blackpool and is an exact replica of the Spitfire which was originally built at Eastleigh, Hampshire, with many of its original instruments and controls as well as added sound and light features to give the would be pilot a real feel for life as a WW2 Fighter Pilot.
The Supermarine Spitfire F Mk IX was initially to be a Mk IA/B but was eventually built as a F Mk IX. The first flight of this type was on 31 August 1942.
