Nah, family relationships are built on equal support. If they cant or wont give u any support, not even check in they don't get it back just because they're "family" ur son sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders of what right and wrong so ur doing a fantastic job

I don't really get the second story as much I thought it would have been easy for them to just buy some vegan food on the day of the bachelorette party and the wedding so they could have something to eat. If they're the only people in the wedding party who specified that they needed vegan options I don't get why they just couldn't have bought some the day of, you could easily look up places that sell vegan options and asked specifically what they would like to eat. It's true not all catering services will be able to accommodate various types of diets. A friendship shouldn't have to die under something that could be easily fixed.
