Militarism and tourism doesn't go together. Also this isn't an amusement show for outsiders to be mesmerized and entertained, this is a military parade to show off power and impose propaganda on their own population.
No matter where you come from 1st world, 2nd world, or 3rd world country, preparing an event with a huge crowd and organizing them into one harmony is not an easy task, it requires insane amount of work and budgets.
And a 100% waste of time and resources. 💯💯 Think of all the fuel used up, the people who practiced over and over again when in reality, they could have done something to better their country. Instead, they decide to waste all those resources on a parade.. 🤨🤔

To be honest, gotta give the North Koreans credit for their impressive military parades. It certainly took a lot of exercises to get such a great marching performance.

I used to think that North Korean soldiers were outdated and had only personal abilities, which were not suitable for modern warfare. Look at the Russo-Ukrainian War, if the DPRK is equipped with enough UAV reconnaissance means, individual anti tank anti-aircraft missiles. Its strong personal combat power is now a significant advantage. North Korea has enough artillery and ammunition. Modern warfare is truly unpredictable.

Here's a thought experiment: if North Korea collapsed and the South took over all of Korea what would happen next? I think the US would use the situation to assert much more control over Korea, and attempt westernize all of Korea. Soon you'd see "mass immigration" being promoted "to save Korea". The resulting collapse of social cohesion would be a useful tool of top down control (as it is used in the Anglo nations and France today.) Soon you'd see "diversity and inclusion" being promoted to further breakdown Korean identity, to pathologize Korean identity as "the problem". Soon Korea would be like the USA: collapsing social cohesion, demographic replacement, massive homelessness, deracinated individuals, breakdown in the family, drug addiction, and a huge expansion of "civil rights" which is essential for the total state. Do you see it differently? Look at the US, UK, Canada, and France. Do they not all have this pattern? The "freedom" of the West is only to be free to destroy yourself. When you look at Korea, north and south, and consider Korean history, its almost as if Korea's genius is its division. By being constantly at war, they avoid completely falling into the pitfall of the West: materialism, modernity, degeneracy, and loss of social cohesion. Nobody architected the Korean situation but in a way it seems inevitable.

And people like you have the illusion that the United States dominates Korea, but the United States also receives a lot of help from Korea and respects it. The West is self-centered, but the East is a community-centered society . That's the biggest difference.

I'm not trying to say I want to live in North Korea but don't sit here and pretend that SK is some paradise to be ruined by our issues, they have plenty of deeply rooted issues within their own society like the Chaebols and a work culture similar to the worst of Japan's city-boom culture. And please, no materialism or loss of social cohesion? You just witnessed a 2 hour parade centered around the fact that they treat an autocrat like god and have extreme iconography to go along with it. SK is massively materialist due to having a consumerist culture similar to the US and I guess I can't speak for them but I imagine that North and South koreans have quite a few cultural differences that would be highlighted if there ever was a reunification.

Western press might lambast North Korea's economy but I was simply amazed by the discipline of their military. The best parade of any military force in the world.

Hate to say it but American drill and ceremony is child’s play compared to North Korea. Let’s hope North Korea remains peaceful because they should be feared by every nation. They could easily take over Europe as the nazis did, North Korea could do it easier than the Nazis. They must be respected. Even America couldn’t defeat them and had to withdraw forces and sign an armistice.

the new parade style is definitely better than before. steady walk, dignified uniform. music is always good. the old parade didn't look strong, it just looked painful. doing it at night also has a solemn effect-and it's also good for soldiers fatigue in the heat. so, yes, north korea is getting better.
