FYI, we haven't used the Maverick missile for at least 10 to 12 years. Since this is a modernized CF-18 with the new GPS antenna and nose antennas, the Maverick has not been used since these upgrades. I'm not saying this as a bad review. this is only in case you want your model to be as up to date as possible. Apart from this little detail, your work is really impeccable. one of the most beautiful I have seen to date. simply incredible. WELL DONE !!

Seriously I too find that it looks good as a configuration. It's a shame the RCAF doesn't use it anymore. One reason is that the pilot must descend to a low enough altitude to use it. It exposes the plane to enemy air defense. they prefer to destroy targets at high altitude with GBUs. Less risk. For the same reasons, the LAU-5003s are no longer used with CRV-7 rockets.

don't see many Canadians-this is beautiful ! it is hard to tell from 1:1 scale ! ( I did build one once - but it wasn't a good kit so I didn't keep it .) Wales UK.

Peri, my favourite yt modeller :) I have one "advice" (:D). When you want to use CA as a filler I suggest adding pigment to it. Have heared it won't work with just any pigmant but ppl say metallic ones are good. I've mixed CA with polished steel pigment lately and it worked really great. It keeps the volume and does not "sit down", harden way faster than CA in bigger quantities alone, can fill big gaps in one apply plust it's.... flexible. I made it in the blister from olfa blades, wanted to crumble it like I'd do with CA alone but it kept sticking to the plastic, no matter how much I bent it :) It's even way better as a glue, used it yesterday to attach resin pilot which kept loosing limbs glued with pure CA.

A very big Mistake is, to cover Stains, retouched Panels and Stuff under a Coat of matt Varnish! New Paint , old Paint,Oil and other Fluides have a different Texture.More shiny or more flat.Most of the Modelers make this Mistake.Greets from Germany, former Ground Personnel, Fighter Bomber Wing 32 , German Air Force.

Wonderful work and craftmanship!!! I just finished this exact build. It's a shame Academy didn't include actual RCAF squadron markings. I did acquire aftermarket decals for this kit however being almost 20 years old they disintegrated during application. Your bird is with 425 TFS Sqn. CFB Bagotville Quebec. Thanks for your tribute to our amazing fighter pilots Peri!!!!

Brilliant work, Peri.....such an amazingly detailed and beautifully finished model. It's a rare thing to see 1/32 scale builds on YT, particularly model jet aircraft, so it was a real pleasure watching this build. Are there any more in the offing in the future?

Beautiful job of painting and weathering. The 1/32 F-18 is my favorite 1/32 kit. did you apply the ump washes over a gloss or matte surface? I know they react differently but would like to know your preferrence

Hi Peri, can you please tell me how you get your paint mixes so smooth? I have seen a sort of "golden rule" of 70:30 thinner and paint at 1.0 Bar or 15 PSI. I assume for the detail post shading, where the airbrush is really close, you're using a thinner mix, like 90:10 or 95:5 at maybe 0.5 to 0.75 Bar?

Not really 70-30 max but really low psi just enough so it doesn't spatter

Nice build, I'll do the canadian version too, same kit. Did you use the kit's decals? I didn't build an academy kit n probably 20 years. I remember the decals being not good at all.
