I knew who I wanted to vote for already, but this first part of their debate set it firmly in granite just where she was going and where he was going. She wanted full unhampered abortion rights, constitution should be changed, gun control ( guns should be taken away ) . He wanted no abortion, Constitution should never be changed and second amendment should be supported all the way. That’s all I needed

I don’t really like him, but I can’t deny he completely changed the game. I genuinely believe 20 years into the future politicians will look back at 2016 as to where presidential campaigns changed forever.

I for one think it would have been nicer if I got an idea of what Trump’s plans or policies would have been in response to those questions, but it definitely felt like those were an afterthought

Yo rewatching this in 2024. The world seemed so civil and tame back then by comparison, and I remember thinking at the time how wild this debate was. Seems fairly milquetoast now.
When you watch this after 4 years you understand why he won. Notice how all the aligations against him started after he won. When he was still debating everyone said he would never win. Look what happened.

I could name a half dozen times when Donald Trump was asked a direct question and then he went an a tangent that victimized his supporters and pointed fingers at everyone else, and failed to answer the question. When asked how he would bring jobs BACK into the U.S, he first said that other countries were "stealing" the jobs. Do you not realize that other countries aren't stealing jobs, companies are consciously moving jobs overseas because they can have cheaper labor there. Quit putting the blame on the countries and start putting it on the companies that are just, in his words, doing "good business." The second time Mr. Holt told him to come back to the topic his response was, "Don't let them leave in the first place," which does nothing to answer the question of how to get them back. There are multiple other examples of this throughout all of the debates, not to mention the times that he would interrupt Hillary talking like an immature school boy. While Hillary wasn't perfect, she was much more eloquently spoken and obviously more well prepared for the questions than Trump
