Gahhhh! I can't WAIT to go on this ship! My husband and I will be taking our third cruise with Norwegian and our first time, not only on this ship, but also staying in The Haven! We figured it's just the two of us so we wanted to splurge! I can't wait for the VR game area and the go cart track! I'm a 40 something kid so that's going to be fun! Excellent video!

Cruised 5/21-5/28 the joy to NYC-Bermuda the cruise was a terrible experience completely disorganized and pourly run. Its been 5 months and they still owe us 3,500$ in refunds from group deposites and booking credits. From the very start the boarding experience was chaos. Just mobs of people being told the wrong information over and over. People being yelled at by staff for doing things other staff members told them to do. No organized line systems or anything. The food was not good at all. One of the main reasons we book Norwegian. The food at the buffet was mostly over cooked or mushy, a few people even got sick from the buffet. The main restaurants were not much better and only open form 12-1:30 for lunch. The specialty dinning was never available due to the fact people were making multiple reservations for the same day and then canceling the ones they don't want last minute. No regulation at all. We were never able to book things as a group. The one dinner we were able to book ahead of time, when we showed up they didn't know anything about our reservation. They told us we could only sit in tables of 8 and there were clearly other groups with tables of 12. All the tables were suppose to be together but they were separated by massive pillars and walls completely isolating 3 of the tables all together. The laser tag was only open for 2 hours per day and weather permitting. When I tried to book the group they said they needed the room number and the fact that I booked as a group didnt mean anything. I explained I was the group leader and asked for a list of the rooms in my group and they told me thats private information. They said they couldn't accommodate us at the go karts either. But doesn't seem like we missed out sine an electric shopping cart moves faster. The entertainment was really bad. Footloose felt like a high-school production. Most people were falling asleep or walking out after 20 minutes. They messed up several people's reservations in my group and kept sending them to talk to different people but no one ended up helping them. Several people told me I was gonna have a butler and when I went to set it up I was basically laughed at and told I only get a concierge. The "Concierge" that I was assigned was barley available and when they were they would direct me to talk to someone else. I talked to so many long time Norwegian cruisers and they said it was hands down the worst cruise they have ever been on. Some of them have been on more than 30 cruises. Even the staff was apologizing for how crappy it was. This was our wedding cruise. I am so embarrassed. I told all my people how great and fun it was going to be. I told the how great the food was going to be. I told them how great the entertainment was going to be. I told them all the stuff I was told and it was a lie. The ship was not intended to be a family cruise ship. Nor was is designed for that level of open water. The ride was so turbulent. It was designed to be a gambling boat. It is nothing more than a slightly refurbished casino boat with a few pourly thought out and designed "family fun features". We really feel scamed, cheated and lied to about this cruise it was definitely not as advertised. And we are not the only ones there are thousands of people on social media with similar or worse complaints.

Needs another hot tub by the pool. The pool layout is kinda weird. I assuming because they had to redesign it from when it was a garden area for the Chinese market. The big hot tub in spice is pretty cool.

Was just on this gorgeous ship a month ago. Really nice. Only one thing we really really miss! The Thermal Suite Spas, U know the Thermal Spa with the huge whirlpool/jacuzzis and lounge area? Yup! They DONT HAVE IT on this ship. Just sauna and treatment spa rooms! Ngeee! NOT good. We love the spa just to get away from the crowds. But sailing Alaska, I would never consider Joy next time. Soaking in a thermal spa and watching the glaciers go by would be one of the highlights of the trip. For that reason alone, I would pick Bliss every time or Encore.

J. J. You make a good point about the local of the thermal suites on Joy vs Encore and Bliss. I’m booking the Joy for 12 day Panama Canal. I look forward to sipping a coffee or cocktail whilst sitting in the observation lounge. That area is so swanky. Heck the entire ship is off-the-chain luxe! I do want to sail Alaska and will heed your advice and book bliss or encore!

I am sailing the Joy for NYE 2020 on the Mexican Riveria. Are the thermal saunas included or an additional fee?

Nikki B Hi Nikki. Sadly, there is no thermal suite on the Joy. Most ships do have it though. It is an extra fee and varies by ship and length of cruise. You can book ahead and save some money. The pass is for the entire cruise or you can buy by the day. For example, on the Breakaway it was $199 pp for a 7 day cruise or $99 per day. Now if you have any room that is a spa room like spa mini suite, spa balcony or Haven spa suite, the use of the thermal suite is included with your room.

This ship is almost overwhelming!! I sailed the Sky in July and will be sailing the Joy for NYE on the Mexican Mexican Riveria. I hope I can see it all, and dont get lost! Great video.

We sailed on this ship last August for a 10 day cruise. As it's name suggests, it was an enJOYable experience. I'd love to see the Joy homeport in Boston someday soon..

We have done 4 NCL cruises since 2015 Breakaway - Haven guest 1x Spa Suite 1x Encore Haven guest Most recently July 22 on the Joy as Haven guest. The Joy was built for the Chinese / Asian market but did not meet Norweigns expectations so the ship was put into the US Market after some renovation. The Joy does not have Spa Suites or a seperate Spa. The Joy does not have Saunas or Steam rooms in the Haven. THE SISTER BREAKAWAY CLASS HAVE THESE THINGS. The Haven suite shower had slight over 6 feet of headroom. Im 6'2 and it was very close. Big guys beware. The H2o area is located in the far aft behind the ships funnel and when the wind was blowing certain direction the smoke from the funnel blew down onto the passengers - smelled like standing behind a city bus. The American Cafe was awful , we had lunch there when we first boarded. The service took over 1 hour to prepare and deliver a chicken sandwich and burger. Then it was cold and hardly edible. The Footloose show was more like a Junior High school production. The Joy Haven sun deck and hot tub areas are off limites to Children under 16. The Joy Haven did have a carry around phone to call the Butler anywhere on the ship for almost instant service. The other Havens we were in maybe had that carry around phone but I didnt know it. On the other side of the coin I did like that the Joy utilized the crew service elevators while in port for Haven Guests with Consigniers escort. The Beatles show fabulous The Arcrobat show fabulous The Magic / acrobat show beyond fabulous - They made it snow in the theater- wonderful touch. Klien the comedian was a good performance. I really enjoyed the Cafe buffet the best of all Breakaway class Ive been on. The crew did a great job. Other then that the Joy is pretty much identical to her Sister Breakaway class. Ocean blue & speciality resturants excellent. If I had my choice Id skip the Joy for one of her Sister Breakaway class. We are doing the Prima 11 day Transatlantic as a Haven guest. Alex, nice job. For those that are reading the comments. A few items. 1) The Haven Restaurant menu does not change from day to day. Most NCL Haven suites also have two nights at a specialty restaurant as a perk. If you use your American Express, it provides a complementary dinner for two at the French Restaurant and $300.00 on board credit. 2) The (H2) Haven Deluxe Owners Suite also has a powder room for guest as you walk in. The Joy has a built in fireplace. This room also comes with complementary mixers, waters, and three full bottles of premium alcohol. 3) All Haven Suites have no charge room service because room service is from your butler. Also, your room service can come from the Haven Restaurant during dining hours. I hope that helps.

The Norwegian Cruise Line Joy is full of joy. There are too many fun things to do in that Joy Ship. There are so many awesome restaurants to pick. I wish All Elite Wrestling can pick this Joy Ship. Marko Stunt would feel like a kid again.

We were never able to book things as a group. The one dinner we were able to book ahead of time, when we showed up they didn't know anything about our reservation. They told us we could only sit in tables of 8 and there were clearly other groups with tables of 12. All the tables were suppose to be together but they were separated by massive pillars and walls completely isolating 3 of the tables all together. The laser tag was only open for 2 hours per day and weather permitting. When I tried to book the group they said they needed the room number and the fact that I booked as a group didnt mean anything. I explained I was the group leader and asked for a list of the rooms in my group and they told me thats private information. They said they couldn't accommodate us at the go karts either. But doesn't seem like we missed out sine an electric shopping cart moves faster. The entertainment was really bad. Footloose felt like a high-school production. Most people were falling asleep or walking out after 20 minutes. They messed up several people's reservations in my group and kept sending them to talk to different people but no one ended up helping them. Several people told me I was gonna have a butler and when I went to set it up I was basically laughed at and told I only get a concierge. The "Concierge" that I was assigned was barley available and when they were they would direct me to talk to someone else. I talked to so many long time Norwegian cruisers and they said it was hands down the worst cruise they have ever been on. Some of them have been on more than 30 cruises. Even the staff was apologizing for how crappy it was. This was our wedding cruise. I am so embarrassed. I told all my people how great and fun it was going to be. I told the how great the food was going to be. I told them how great the entertainment was going to be. I told them all the stuff I was told and it was a lie. The ship was not intended to be a family cruise ship. Nor was is designed for that level of open water. The ride was so turbulent. It was designed to be a gambling boat. It is nothing more than a slightly refurbished casino boat with a few pourly thought out and designed "family fun features". We really feel scamed, cheated and lied to about this cruise it was definitely not as advertised. And we are not the only ones there are thousands of people on social media with similar or worse complaints.

Cruised 5/21-5/28 the joy to NYC-Bermuda the cruise was a terrible experience completely disorganized and pourly run. Its been 5 months and they still owe us 3,500$ in refunds from group deposites and booking credits. From the very start the boarding experience was chaos. Just mobs of people being told the wrong information over and over. People being yelled at by staff for doing things other staff members told them to do. No organized line systems or anything. The food was not good at all. One of the main reasons we book Norwegian. The food at the buffet was mostly over cooked or mushy, a few people even got sick from the buffet. The main restaurants were not much better and only open form 12-1:30 for lunch. The specialty dinning was never available due to the fact people were making multiple reservations for the same day and then canceling the ones they don't want last minute. No regulation at all. It would be nice to know "additional prices." I'm used to all inclusive cruises but have heard there are a lot of extra expenses on this ship. If you had "included" and what has an "additional cost" so we know what is included as in the restaurants or anything else. I am on a budget so I need to know what is included and what isn't.

Go to ncl.com and review the list! You can go on any Norwegian Ship and enjoy yourself without paying anything extra. We do it all the time! However, these bigger ships have so much more excitement and things to do than your average cruise lines! These surcharges are for the people who want an experience and to do more than the basics! I rather for them to do that than to add all of that to the price of the cruise! My opinion!
