Blimey! The amount of times I've drank from that water fountain as a kid, gotta be around fifty years ago! Thanks for sharing and refreshing some long forgotten childhood memories. 😎

Bloody hell, what has happened to my beloved thornton heath??? Trumble gardens looks like a dump now… and where has the prince of wales gone? Beautiful old pub knocked down? My gtandparents will be turning in their graves. Thnx for filming this - and nice that u walked up woodville road. 3 generations of my family lived on that street

Wow, the old gardeners that used to keep Trumble Gardens in immaculate condition would be turning in their graves. 😥 Even in my childhood years back in the 70's i was always impressed at how well kept the gardens used to be. Shrubs neatly trimmed, rose gardens, flower beds and perfect lawns. Just looks so run down now. What I did spot of interest were those large cylindrical planters that were on the left just when you walked into the children's play park at 2:48. Could they be all that is left of the original play equipment that used to be in the play park? Anyone that remembers Trumble Gardens from the 70's will remember the short sections of concrete pipe that used to form part of the play equipment. I wonder if those planters are the same bits of pipe? And I have to admit I am very surprised to see the old drinking fountain is still there, must have gulped down gallons of water from that thing when I was a kid. I remember that had the same style drinking fountains at my old Junior school - Elmwood. And of course, most kids that grew up in Thornton Heath years ago will remember the walk down those steps to the children's section of the library. I was often down there, I grew up in Frant Road, so not too far for me to get there. I have great memories of Thornton Heath, was a fantastic place to grow up.

Nice, I've lived on Frant road my whole life and also went to Elmwood (I'm much younger than you but they both had the same style fountains even in my day). The trumble gardens water fountain worked in my youth but stopped working at some point, I took my nephew there a couple of years ago and tried to use it. Shocking how bad the place is kept these days.

I used to go to that library when I was a kid, used to play in Trumble Gardens as well, thanks for the memories. I also remember the fire station next to the library, they knocked it down to build the block of flats there. 🤓 (Who remembers Towns Toytown toy shop would have been on the right at 11:11? They had another store just up Whitehorse Lane as well).

THANK YOU, whoever you are who took the time to wander with camera through these streets where I was born (1944) and bring up. Interesting to see what changes and what stays the same….. Recognising most of the road signs along the way… but now curious to know the name of that final road was after you turned off Natal !
