The most shocking episode, including both original and Brotherhood! Some of my friends were traumatized by watching this scene as children. So until recently, they don't touch the series.

I watch this episode back then on tv when I was just a child and I was shocked by that revelation. I'm so traumatized. Now that I know what's about to happen I'm still sad as always. 😭

I get that if he failed the test, he would lose his house, and face public shame. But that in no way erases his knowledge. He should still be able to get a job doing something related to his field. Apply to a pet store or work as a vet assistant, and tell them you're "great with animals". It's not a lie... I just don't get why he felt passing his test at the cost of losing his family could ever be worth it. Doesn't seem like he had any friends, so who was he trying to impress? How you gonna celebrate with no one to share it with? In which case you might as well sell the big house anyway and get a crappy apartment, save some cash. And unless he kept having kids or kept re-marrying, at some point he was going to fail the test eventually, right? He had time to figure something out before he wiped out all the family he had.
