Thank you for the information on the Revolut card. I have had a wobbly painful back tooth for a fair few months and as I could not get into see a dentist I have treated myself. Here’s what I have done. Salt water mouthwashes twice a day (one teaspoon pink salt dissolved in small amount warm water, tastes awful) the use an old toothbrush dipped in turmeric and apply to gum line of affected tooth. So the salt gets rid of the bacteria and the turmeric takes down the inflammation. My toothache has not only gone but the tooth is no longer loose. Good luck
The Royal Mail 'post restante' service also works very well, I had an urgent parcel sent to me at a wee village post office in rural Scotland last year.
I really love your channel , and RU-vid always does a good job of letting me see your videos . Proving van life is not a nightmare , personally I'd love to live part time in a van . I want best of both worlds .
Thanks for yet another highly informative and fun video. You guys have become our van-life JohnandMandypedia. Can't wait to get our van, hopefully soon, and get out there
That's great guys, thanks for clarifying some things like GP services - really helpful! Ahhh, I once had tooth pain so badly that none of the alcohol and pain killers worked and I literally BEGGED my then-partner (current one would've manned up and done it!) to knock me out (late Saturday night in a tiny village in NL) - I was serious, it was so bad... First time ever that they stuck a long needle into the roof of my mouth and I opened really wide gratefully... Great idea as well to use campsites for post! When I went over to NL I was rather anxious (despite going in the Awesome Isolation Van! She's been brilliant!) how people would be during this whole situation and I found everyone was nothing but lovely, understanding and helpful - thank heavens we can still rely on each other for support, let's keep that going! PS You will always be welcome at ours for a roast dinner/wash/poo/etc. (just give us a heads-up for that Large Van of yours and we'll clear the road (it's a touch narrow)!
@@johnmandy Any time, just tell us when you're around Hemel Hempstead! Tooth ache IS awful, I hope he's helped soon. If it gets bad maybe go to A&E who then have to refer you as an emergency?
Re dentist. You can get access to emergency out of hours dental treatment via 111. My understanding is after an initial telephone consultation you can then be offered an appointment at a dentist acting as the out of hours hub. Hope that gives you an option, let me know if it works. 🙂
I don’t know if it’s typical but Bradford College apparently have an opticians department where you can get learners under supervision checking your eyes.
The sole reason we joined CCC was the opportunity to use any site for a pit stop. For £7.50 (ish) you can call in and stay for up to 3hrs, change water, use the facilities and, subject to availability, hook up. We haven’t used this particular service since Covid so don’t know whether it’s been affected or not.
They stopped those sessions during covid but will be back up and running soon it seems.. £7.50 for water, loo emptying, showers, possibly hook up - bargain..! 😁👍🏻
Excellent advice. I use the NHS App to order repeat prescriptions, as you can nominate a nearby pharmacy to fill it. Just need to work out where you’re going to be in a couple of days 👍💙❤️
Good answers for most asked questions I suspect, full time must be daunting but you’ve had a pretty testing time with lockdown etc and have coped well, I’d worry about a huge van issue like traffic accident or theft but I guess you have contingency plans if you suffer total loss? Maybe a good (if not a bit downbeat) topic to discuss? Congrats on 31k well deserved 👍
What about food delivery etc Could I simply ask my Sainsbury’s food delivery to deliver at a lay-by on a certain rd? After all, as long as they get paid it shouldn’t matter
Thank you John & Mandy!! Very informative, you’ve answered all my questions I sent to you last night on Instagram 👍🏼 also the out take at the end was hilarious!
john i think i recall you changed the springs on a previous van.i have an extra long wheel base citroen relay and its sitting up high at the rear.i think its got heavy duty springs because it was used for delivering newspapers which are pretty heavy..is it possible to put a pair of standard springs in as there isnt much weight on the rear.tia..
Hi guys lovely to see you , well if it’s not cooper slurping water you get the lawn mower man, can’t win you know, good info , got stickers ok, thanks ,look forward to the next one, take care , Ray Gosport UK.
well my van is ready for the road - im covered right now with all YET I never thought about my family member passing. All your advice would be very helpful thanks for the video
A friend of mine couldn’t get an NHS dentist etc as he was in pain last year, but one surgery had an appointment the same day IF he went private. Maybe an option if you get desperate.
Love my Revolute card - just so easy - to pay people who dont have card readers - as long as you have sort code and bank account its really easy and then really easy to make repeat payments - its brilliant 👍
A question on Revult John and Mandy? In summary, you have to preload the card with money from your our bank account and then use it with the preloaded money. When running short of money, you can instantly top up again? Signed up for one, but not added any money yet. 😎
@@johnmandy signed up, added some money and spent it! Working my way around exchanging money, but it looks very good and secure way to spend money in different countries. I think the basic free account offers enough for now. Thank you 👍
Could you use a private dentist in an emergency or even an orthodontist? I know they are a bit pricey but just thinking of options for you. Tooth pain is not nice. Great video as always. Thanks!
I stayed with my old Dentist and just make my way to them when I need. Mr L is different, he doesn't believe in dentists. Until he has toothache. We have stayed with our GP and just re-order our meds each month and combine it with a trip back 'home'. Of course the plan was to move on and around permanently but some dozy moo hit the back of us (cos we are just not big enough to see) and we have to hang around until July for a repair. We are doing the South coast too in between but once repaired we intend not to return 'home' so we don't know how we will get our meds every month. That will be something we will have to work out as we go along. If you guys haven't done Arundel i can heartily recommend!!! And free overnighting alongside the castle, loos and fab fish and chips. Gorgeous town, castle and parks!!
Our old dentist closed as we sold the house so we would have had to re-register somewhere anyway. From what I’ve seen others do they’ve phoned their doctors, advised they were on holiday or working away and they’ve sent the prescription to a local pharmacy for collection, also see if you can pick up six months at a time 😁👍🏻 hope the van is fixed up soon ❤️
Hello to you both sorry. Not been in touch again lol been on holiday lol but hope your both OK and this videos was great very useful information for me for the future you both take care all the best ow how is Cooper after sniffing up the grass
@@johnmandy ow glad he is OK how is you both doing and yeah we had a good holiday apart from the weather and then we had a leak in the tent the attached awning started leaking so rung the company they gonna come and pick the tent up and either try to repair it or just give us a new one apart from that shame it ended I could easily do what you and a lot of other people do just live off grid full time it's my dream lol
@@johnmandy The joke helped. Basically you are living my dream. I need to stop watching videos of other people doing it and get out and do it myself. Just need a few more pennies for a van. Until then your videos keep me motivated. Keep up the good work. Best wishes, Dave.
Well amused by the guy with the strimmer. About your tooth John, Doctors aren't allowed to treat animals but vets can treat humans... Ask Cooper for a recommendation and call yourself Rover :-)
I think it depends on what you want in the van - we are glad we tried the T6, then panel van and now this as we have learned what changes we needed to make along the way. We always wanted a separate sitting area to the bed and a bathroom with a door, more storage than we thought and eventually something to make it easier for coop to get on the bed. We’ve seen these in van conversions and coach built. Make a list and see what you can find from both types that fits the bill - would the sliding door and rear access be a big plus? That kind of thing 😁👍🏻 good luck
That’s great, we will give them a call as we currently are with comfort paying 1k..so looking for alternatives. Will be touring Europe For a year from August
Your channel is so good👍👍keep going you deserve a bigger audience ( just get John to do his tech for real, complete, total, absolute idiots🤣🤣🤣😂😂) thanks!!
Hello. I have heard you two talking about grandchildren in past videos - so, why can’t you use your children (s) address as your “permanent” address to send all your mail to ect ect ?? Thanks 🙏 Take care and stay safe 😷
Are you gonna be anywhere near Coventry, I had to travel that way for a dentist as I was no longer registered due to move and due to covid nobody was taking on but a place in cov will take you on in a same day or a few days. Message if you want more info on Insta cheer. Love the vid 💕
Hi, I just wanted to let you all know how brilliant Morrison’s were last year when we were staying on a site in Hampshire. We were in between homes waiting for our purchase to go through so we were effectively living in our Motorhome for two months...Morrison’s delivered groceries to the site and directly to our pitch. It was an amazing service that other supermarkets were not providing. We also found Amazon’s ‘Prime Now’ great for all those items you need ‘Now’. Huge thanks to Mandy & John for all their good advice and guidance over the past year and some really entertaining videos!!
That’s good to know. In our caravanning days there were a few sites that allowed a Tesco delivery in Cornwall so we had all the heavy stuff delivered to save on payload 😁 it is really good and lovely they helped you put in a pickle 👍🏻 Thank you so much for watching ❤️
I recently joined the caravan and motorhome club and tried to book a campsite in Suffolk over the half term. To my shock there were none available but to make things worse I found non club campsites cheaper and in better locations. What is the point of joining these clubs ?. I feel I just wasted £54.
I think that this year is exceptional Martin. There are very many more on the road and more stay in the UK holidays. The camping clubs cannot be blamed for lack of space available. We joined in Octoberish last year but never really used our membership until December. We have had loads of use up and down the country and usually we do last minute type of thing where we need a space tonight. Believe it or last week was hardest because everyone had water logged pitches! We have more than made our money back in savings. I think it's far better for you if you use it regularly (we live full time in our mh) than if you just want an odd week at peak times.
We are members of the CAMHM club. We are not keen on their sites, we rarely use them, but they have an excellent network of certified locations all over the country where we prefer to stay. Check them out on the website. Also you can get a discount on your caravan insurance with many companies if you are a member.
