You are everything that's right about bass demos.

I'm using a bass tube amp and the OCD is killer for adding a bit of dirt. You don't lose the bottom. I am pleasantly surprised. I liked it on guitar, but trying it on bass I am even more impressed with this pedal.

This thing is TOO awesome for bass. Retains a LOT more bass and low end compared to your typical tube screamer or distortion pedal, and it's grit level is surprisingly flexible. That is important in a bass overdrive/distortion because most pedals will suck out your low end and fizz out your high end with compression, so one second you're heard just fine, but step on that pedal and you disappear. THIS one doesn't have that problem as you can clearly see in the video. Even with a lot of gain and treble tone put on it with the LP (low peak) setting on, you still hear that ridiculous bass underneath the crunch and punch, and it's pretty quiet to boot. Love this video. The only criticism I have with it is that it only shows one setting on the thing, and it's a pretty balls out one that can give the wrong impression. If you set it to HP and keep the gain and tone at the middle then boost the volume a bit, you get a subtle lift in power and break up and a lot more harmonics, meaning the thing still sounds like a stringed instrument, but you get what you typically want out of a bass overdrive from it. Or you can keep it at LP with the same settings to tame the treble and volume a bit for an even more smooth break up to just sort of use throughout a song to add some texture. It's great for Lemmy/Burton style distortion too on HP with the gain and tone cranked a bit, or if you want more of an Entwistle/Butler style overdrive, you can keep it on LP and boost the gain and volume just a tad, then roll off the tone a little and really dig in with your fingers.For more of a Geddy/Claypool type grit, you can get that kind of texture from setting it at relatively low gain, higher volume to compensate for it, and slightly rolled up tone, so you can really hear the strings crunch but are able to back it off with just your pick attack when you need it to. This pedal is awesome at doing that. Or as demonstrated, you can let the thing loose to wreak it's vengeance on the world with a massive wall of fuzz, explosive volume and low end that makes it sound like your bass took a dip in the GOOD kind of radioactive sludge that gives you super powers that will make any mix it's bitch. That's a lot of room to play around with for such a simple pedal design, and it all feels real because of how dynamic and less harsh the clipping is.

I bought one these pedals for my bass because I tried my guitarist brother's OCD. I can confirm it's an awesome pedal. You may need to EQ the bass frequencies to compensate for any losses

Great video! IMHO, as bass distortion the OCD has a great application on Bass as you can hear but that is it one trick pony. However in the guitar the OCD works wonderfully well without cutting the lows of the instrument.

I've been looking for a distortion pedal to buy for my bass rig for ages now, and I'm pretty sure I've now found it :)

Be aware though of the Joyo Ultimate Drive, which is an OCD clone, also great for bass. If you want a less smoothp, more grungy, vintagey (Jack Bruce) drive sound the Joyo is better. And whole lot cheaper.

if you like the OCD you should check out the DEMON , based on same kinda tone kinda better harmonic connect for bassist , such players as , brain cook and bassist of every time i die use it and MYSELF

Great demo, I really want to pick this up for my bass. Can you tell me how it compares to other overdrive pedals that are made specifically for bass? Aka is there any limitation on it for bass.

This is by far my favourite bass demo for this pedal... I had the pleasure of recording with this pedal into a vinage Ameg B15-N a few weeks ago and now MUST HAVE IT. 'The Internet' seems to think that there are better versions of this pedal than others. Do you think there's really much of a difference between them? Is there one to avoid?

Second, I'd appreciate your help: I want to get a distortion pedal to combine with my (fabulous) Sansamp Bass Driver in a few of the songs I play... I'm between the Fulltone OCD or the Darkglass B3K. I've watched your two videos about these pedals and they both sound amazing, but I don't know which one would fit better with my samsamp...I've found my definitive tone with it! Thank you!

I got a Bass big muff for fuzz and a marshall gv-2 for bass which I actually think sounds good with bass I got it for low $ from a friend. And I also got a sansamp bass driver at the end of my chain. I just need a legit overdrive pedal! So i'm thinking of getting one of these! Would you recommend it after hearing what I got as of now? I got more pedals it's just that these 3 are the only ones of there nature compared to the other not so distorted or fuzz style pedals..Thanks for any input you can give me!
