I'm pretty sure the reason the machine gun doesn't do that much damage is because the splicers at this point are so spliced up they are way stronger than any regular human

53:26 If you sneak and wait to kill those three splicers by the fire barrel you'll hear them talking about Jack and the two possible endings in Bioshock 1. One splicer says they heard he's living it up on the surface doing whatever he wants because everyone knows he'll destroy them if they step out of line. The female splicer scoffs and sneers that Jack is up there with his "little kindergarten full of brats living happy ever ever". The third splicer just tells them it doesn't matter what he's doing because he's gone now and Lamb's in charge.

Since your an older version of the big daddy like Tennenbum and Sinclair mentioned, your suit is very different since parts are removable. When you wake up it implies that a Vita chamber is what revived you. Also yeah we all didn't trust Sinclair after what happened in the first game.

@Arthur_url

@@clasher138 True, but just out of curiosity, yes, Sinclair was technically in the first game. There's an audio log from Suchong right before the final confrontation with Ryan where he mentions two people named Sinclair and Alexander (when talking about the development of vita-chambers or something). Of course back then it was probably just random background names Irrational Games thought of for the worldbuilding, but the team that made Bio 2 took them and turned them into "real" characters. There was also a liquor store in Bio 1 named Sinclair Spirits.

I was so excited to see this up; I just finished up your playthrough of the first game yesterday. Some things: bioshock 2 is, or at least used to be, rather disliked by a lot of people. I think they took issue with ways in which the plot was shoehorned into the pre-existing lore of bio shock 1? I’m not sure. Maybe it’s also that it’s a bit more linear, and there’s a few things that I think some people find tedious. Personally, I like it a lot. There’s a lot of gameplay stuff that is just simply better. The hacking is faster and simpler(though do note if you hadn’t yet, hacking in this one DOES NOT freeze time), being able to use plasmids and physical weapons at the same time is so much nicer, and the auto reloading of Eve makes things faster. One of my biggest pet peeves with the first game is having to wait for the reload animation to finish, for both Eve and guns. So many times I accidentally switched before it finished, leaving me stuck in a reload animation when i next hit combat, leading to taking unnecessary damage. And despite its problems, I actually really enjoy the plot and lore of this sequel. Speaking of which, tapes are as important as ever. Like the first game, there will be a number of tapes from the same people, so there are little background storylines to learn. Can’t help you with missing them though, it’s been quite a while since I’ve played. The biggest thing I’ll point out is that you CANNOT return to previous areas. It is unfortunate. The underwater stuff is cool, but very linear and limited. One other thing that won’t be relevant for quite a while, please do play the Minerva’s Den DLC afterward. It’s a story focused dlc and it’s great. As far as taking your time and looting or backtracking, i like it. I’m here to watch someone enjoy playing the game their way, not just rush through main story beats.

Bioshock 1 has better story and is more intriguing because everything feels new while Bioshock 2 certainly tried but the story is not as good imo, and we already know Rapture from first game so the bar is set high already, though the gameplay is much more polished and balanced.

Like back in the day like way back, there was a case in a village of people dancing till their deaths or something, I can't pinpoint it because I read about it a long time ago. that might be a bit dramatic compared to Lamb, but I think that what it is called. it's usually called mass Hysteria, buy it is where a person is dramatic and emotional, and it can affect others around that person. so maybe Lamb has that or is using Hysteria to use the people of the city.

people have talked about Bioshock going "open world" but the problem is Bioshock has always been very story driven what with the audio diaries and often being guided by a secondary person like Atlas or Tenenbaum or Sinclair...if the Bioshock series went open world people would expect you to be able to go wherever you want...whenever you want. and that would result in people losing grip on the plot. technically it's not the first time we've seen little sisters age...the ones who went to surface with Jack aged too.

Bioshock 2 is the action and consequence to the GOOD ending of Bioshock 1 (which is the one you got if i recall, where Jack goes to the surface with the little sisters and he dies). Let it be noted Jack did not see all of Rapture...not by a long shot...and Rapture is now under new leadership with a different belief system. But what has happened in B2 BEGAN before B1...you could say these consequences developed over time... 1940's = Rapture was established/ built 1958 = the cutscene of B2 1959 = civil war began in Rapture (sort of war though there was riots and stuff before too) 1960 = Jack came to Rapture, Ryan and Fontaine perished. 1968 = Bioshock 2

Here we go to the next game. Let's see if I'll manage to catch up before you finish Infinite. 6:12 Presumably the helmet is removable even if the rest of the suit isn't. It's a nice detail how Rapture in BS2 looks even more dilapidated than in the first game, showing how time has passed. In the first it was just small leaks and broken machinery here and there, now it is on the verge of collapsing entirely. The splicers are more deformed too, showing that their deterioration is ongoing. 14:00 Interesting that the comment about "daily regimen" seems to imply that splices have a limited duration. Guess that explains why only a few splicers demonstrate any special abilities, despite having spliced enough to completely ruin themselves. 18:40 Tenenbaum looks very different from how she looked in the first game. 19:25 I like the detail of Daddies performing maintenance on the city to keep it just on the better side of falling apart. 20:50 The suit probably includes a waste collection system, much like real diving suits. 40:37 I generally like BS2's hacking minigame more than the pipe thing from the first game, but its design is a textbook example of lack of concern for accessibility. If you're colourblind the ones with red sections are completely unplayable. 48:58 They made the Alpha series helmet's viewing aperture a lot wider, presumably for playability's sake. You can just barely see the edge of at the corners of the screen. 1:12:08 Dr Hollcroft's advertisement is quoting one of the PSAs from the first game. 1:31:48 I think the machine gun is just a reskin of the first game's Tommygun, sadly enough.

What do you mean Fontaine and Ryan weren't totally evil? You specifically said Ryan was all but a nazi, and Fontaine kidnapped you, experimented on you, and brainwashed you to destroy Rapture and kill Ryan, not because it's the right thing to do but because Fontaine wants money and power and doesn't care how many people he has to kill to get them. Lol But you were also gonna just let Sander Cohen live. Seriously, what is with people cutting that guy a break? He's OBVIOUSLY a violent psychopath. They know why he came to Rapture, right? Because nobody on the surface would tolerate him [[encasing corpses in plaster and calling it art]]. When he talks about "doubters" he was talking about people who have a problem with him using dead human bodies as a medium. He's murdered dozens, if not hundreds for his idea of art, and he even tried to kill the player because of one imagined criticism. But since he didn't kill them, you let him live until you accidentally aggroed him in his apartment. I watched another streamer who took a rather distressingly long time to figure out that the statues weren't statues, and even after she did figure it out kept going on about the beautiful scenery. But at least she had the good sense to beat him to death with the wrench before he even got to the first landing of the stairs. Seriously, why does everyone want to cut Cohen a break? I filled his brain cavity with bullets the first chance I got.

All valid points ;'D I tend to lean away from just murdering NPCs in games because often there is more dialogue and story etc to see if you don't. Not always ofc, but enough times in enough games that it definitely makes me think twice about killing one.

@@LiquidBlitzPlays That's fair, and honestly I was pleasantly surprised at the interaction in Cohen's apartment, I never would have guessed that something like that would occur if you let him live. It just never occurred to me to just let a monster like that walk away, and it surprised me that you did, it didn't really fit with what you'd said up to that point. But that does make sense now that you mention it. Also reading back, I'm sorry if I came off a bit abrasive up there. I'm stuck in bed sick all week and binging this series and I'm really enjoying it so far.

Hope you feel better soon! I really enjoyed Bioshock 2, arguably I enjoyed the gameplay more than the first because of one reason, the drill :P which you'll witness soon if you keep watching hehe.

It sucks when someone’s language and using gods name in vain ruins what could of been a fun walkthrough.

Apologies you don't like my language, if you prefer a more family-friendly style I heartily recommend Benjamight Gaming: www.youtube.com/@BenjamightGaming who has also done all of Bioshock. Enjoy!

Idk if anyone's already filled you in on this further down the line, but in case they haven't, those audio diaries from Mark Meltzer about coming to Rapture searching for his kidnapped daughter? That's actually a continuation of a sort of online game/story thing that was done as part of the Bioshock 2 marketing, called There's Something In The Sea. It followed Mark's investigations, starting with him investigating the disapperances of young girls all along coastlines, allowing him to work out a pattern, stakeout the next area the kidnapper would hit, and snap a photo of a Big Sister, who promptly retaliated by kidnapping his own daughter, Cindy. Mark then kind of went apeshit searching for her, not helped by the fact that the police decided he was the primary suspect. He tracked down rumours of Rapture, got a boat to search the Atlantic ocean for it... then the whole thing abruptly ended with a final update just showing his cabin on the boat half flooded, with blood splatters all over the desk, a dead spider splicer visible in the mirror, and a radio transmission of the coast guard trying (and failing) to raise the boat after they sent out a mayday. So the Mark Meltzer tapes are the continuation of that storyline; it confirmed that Mark survived the attack on his boat, and finally made it into Rapture to find his daughter. That's also why he's the only character whose audio diary picture is in colour - Rapture's a sort of time capsule at this point, everyone there is still stuck in the 1950's. Mark's the only character that's actually been part of the world this whole time, so he gets a colour photo to reflect him being much more modern.
