Longbows are my go-to unit for wiping out bands of rebels in the open world. Without mastery, using nothing but longbows, you can beat the rebels in about 5-6 minutes while suffering no damage / losses. With mastery, you beat the rebels in 3-4 minutes in most cases. Outside of a few maps, I don't use longbows otherwise. Most maps don't have the unobstructed lines of fire to really take advantage of their range advantage over most other ranged units without putting the unit at serious risk of getting charged / dove.
I wish they rework the Pavise Crossbow, return their glorious machine gun. They are worse than Rattan Marksman right now, which is ridiculous for a GOLDEN unit.
To be fair they are now a bit more than just anti range😅 they even kill cav and many things without shield fast if people are not aware(personal experience)
nice video as always, would be interesting if you can do maybe a mastery tier list or smth similiar due to many units now having one and would help out great to see which units are worth the time leveling and unlocking etc
I have the the double string doctrine instead of arrow rain. It function like double shot shooting 2 arrows per volley for 12 seconds on 45 second cooldown for archers(It only works on Longbows overwatch ability). Also been running bot line since they killed range easily and focused on shooting medium to low armor melee troops without a towershield.
I wish that's how they work or at least mine. How many times I make them attack area on range when there's a closer battle going on but my guy will target the battle instead of their range, then guess what they range will delete my longbow. So sad
i said this 3000 years ago and i will say it now --there is nothing wrong with longbows if you use them for what they are supposed to be used.Units without shield .Just now they are even better especially with artemis doctrine.
My longbows went from just an anti-archer and gunner unit to anti everything, the slow is actually impactful on troops trying to move around or retreat. Mix it with double string and glaive buff and they kill anything but tower shields in short order, from good distances and without needing direct line of sight. Need to go bottom line if you want actual success, they already kill ranged without top line at all, and the 12% more against cav and infantry helps a lot. I've even been catching out heroes, just need to intercept them and hold them still and two volleys will shotgun anything but a shortsword.
The problem with longbows or any archer units in general that most heroes can jump on and wipe them easily while being immune to CC. And since they are back of the line, very low chance that your teammates will see and help in such situations. Also if you try to bring them closer to your teammates and actions, they get wiped by 1 musket flame/ulti. Not to mention random cavs wandering around... They must add some sort of protection/counters to these situations.
Also used the Artemis doctrine instead of the arrow rain, it's quite crazy the damage they ditch out 👌, of course being a longbow myself lets me do something during the battle 😅
Hey Plumsion I'd like to learn your opinion on this game currently. Do you have hopes for the future of this game? Do you think the cycle of "New season new OP units" will continue on forever, and do you think that developers make some season units on purpose just to make it sell more? Do you also sometimes get frustrated by someone kamikaze-ing your troops and not being able to stop it? Do you ever get games where your team cant even push once/can't hold for not even 2 minutes? Also one last thing, do you think that currently almost every unit dies too fast?
well the kamikaze happens way too much, this is why i only have iron reapers, man at arms, and other tanky units, but noting squishy at all, so no ranged as well.
ill say the mastery is seen buy a lot as mid but i find its well thought out the extra hp stops low damage heroes from 1 tapping then (in first clip) wish longbows were always seen as 1 tap units but pls now that the mastery is out arrow rain is way worse on them now since it doesn't trigger any of there mastery effects at all but just having them do better at things they were meh at is kind of only thing they coude have gotten since they already beat most range anyway no point buffing the range matchup if they win it anyways
i dont mean to offend anyone but playing range units like this is only going to make the game more boring standing there pressing 1 and being completly afk with hero isnt contributing anything to the team for the leadership of t4 units you can pick so many good melee units who would do so much more
If that's what you simply do, I play glaive and have the ability to buff my ranged units, which makes it better than other users using ranged. Using melee isn't going to help me win in an outnumbered scenario, I can rush in with my iron reapers but it's an even trade at best. Meanwhile, I've literally won outnumbered scenarios because my gunners were unchecked and wiped 100+ units, landing 7-9k shots per hit with glaive buff and full tier 5 doctrines and masteries.
welp ppl like ranged units cause they kinda kill units for free which is very appealing BUT creates toxic situation when heroes stay idle and team is struggling on points. egoistic, egocentric western play style. on the other hand there are braindead cav and maul spin to win players or heavy armor sitting on walls shooting mortars. so ye dont blame player, blame the game I guess
I disagree, useful range units creates dynamic -> a need to counter them(bringing shields, diving them) as if you ignore them they might simply shred you, there is a a reason historically wars was won by archers and of course it doesnt necessaraly has to be the same, but saying that it makes it boring is simply wrong. There is people who enjoy that playstyle and that is fine.
Bro ur targeting them at the sky and wonder why they shoot in random directions XD. They shoot at the nearest target to the shooting location so if u dont set any location then they just shoot at whoever they see closest and in sight.
