Hello!
Me and James popped over to the Brent House Railway last week - to test out his new Class 23 ‘Baby Deltic’ locomotive!
We had a great little running session and i started to get to grips with the signalbox so we can operate the railway between ourselves!
The Deltic pulled all 9 choc&cream mk1 coaches with ease and performed well.
My pair of 20s also ran fairly well - still having issues with them paired up though so more testing needed.
Please enjoy the video, share it and leave us a comment - it means a lot!
All the best,
Eric

Excellent railway and video. My 5” railway is also fully signalled using a mixture of colour lights and semaphores. I use to tablet machines for control. Sooo much fun!! Every home should have one!!

@@rivergladesgardenrailroad8834 Completely agree. This set-up is way beyond "model railway" in every way. This is a proper full-blown railway system, just a wee bit smaller than standard gauge. I'd love to see a really full-on operating session, with signallers on duty and a good number of trains running.

Wow how much would it cost to build say a class 37/40/45) locomotive from scratch as I might build one over winter they're fascinating and definitely cool I loved all the locomotives the baby deltic is nice definitely worth the time it takes to build one!!! 😎👏👏👏

The model locomotive hauling the passenger rake does *not* look like a Deltic (Class 55). It *does* however bear resemblance to the later Class 37 (EE Type 3) locomotive. So don't know why you're calling this a 'Deltic'. Deltic's are characterised by having a longer 'snout', with driver observation through two-pane, split screen windows There are also six rounded, rectangular windows along both sides, unlike the Class 37's, which have two rectangular windows per side, with a three-pane windscreen at each end. Other aesthetic distinctions are the various louvered grills and air-intakes which are distinctly unique to each class. Thus, this model is a vague representation of a standard Class 37, which do *not* use the Napier Deltic engine as it's prime mover. The 'Deltics' (nickname) were exclusive to the Class 55, the prime movers being - the Napier 'Deltic' D18-25 motors (two-stroke - triple-crank, delta configuration) Whereas the CLass 37 used the EE 12CSVT diesel motors as its prime movers. Both classes use the 'Co-Co' bogie configuration (3x DC electric tractive axels x 2 bogies x2 prime mover diesel motors via 2x DC generators) whilst this model appears to only have two (tractive?) axles per bogie. So not expecially authentic then.... All very well having authentic trackwork, but the rolling stock lets that down... Not to mention the lack of concertina coverings on the passenger car, inter-carriage gangways. Which is the same glaringly obvious omission to just about every model passenger train I've ever seen. ===================================================================================================================== References [wiki refers] *English Electric/BR Class 55 - Diesel Locomotive* Prototype - DP1 - [Deltic Power unit One]. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_55 *BR Class 37 (EE/BR) - Standard Universal Diesel Locomotive (Note the resemblence to this model)* en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_37 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And.... (lol) .... I'm not even that much of a locomotive enthusiast.
@davidbyrne5623
@davidbyrne5623 3 года назад
Well. Sorry but as you say, it is not a Deltic, but a Baby Deltic, one of a few built with one Napier Deltic engine, where as the Deltic has two.
@davidbyrne5623

If in doubt, Google it!!!
@UndergroundEric

Deebz270 clearly you arent much of a locomotive enthusiast, agreed. As if you were you wouldnt have just wrote such a stupid comment and made yourself look foolish. If you READ the title rather than try to be a smartass it is a BABY deltic. A class 23 - which has a single Napier Deltic engine. As for the passenger coaches, where are yours then? As obviously you can do better! Dear oh dear........ 🤔🙄
