OMG! That "Scratch & Dent" store is Awesome! I would probably spend a lot of money there. Wish we had a place like that here in NYC. Thanks for the tour of these places. Loved it! 👍
A pleasure, Carolyn. I wonder if most of those vendors travel or live in RV's, vans or their cars as well? Good to hear you aren't going anywhere -- I look forward to each new video now, and slowly, will make my way through your past. Thanks!
When Quartzsite isn't heavily populated by RV'ers, it's basically just a truck stop. Go to Phx, Flagstaff, or Tucson and you'll find what you're looking for.
Woohoo! Glad to get a peak inside the scratch & dent store, thanks for that. I knew it was there, but did not realize it had that much or that variety. I sure have missed the Grocery Outlets and other overstock type stores that I shopped in WA & OR, saved so much $$ at those places! There are loads and loads of vegan eateries and groceries the closer you get to larger cities here in AZ, but I know what you mean as far as that area goes. Our home base is rural enough, in the Waddell area, but still within 10-20 minutes from anything and everything we could want, healthy food wise. Good to see your shiny happy self today Carolyn~XO
This is great! I'm a gluten-free near-vegan. I eat absolutely no dairy nor meat, but sometimes still have pasture-raised or local farm eggs and honey. It's getting easier & easier to eat well on the road, but I know just what you mean about fries and salad! It gets old. Thanks for sharing how folks are helping people find healthy food!
Thanks for this info. It really is a challenge to find food worth consuming when you are on the road. Could you maybe leave your text portions up a few seconds longer as some of us are not speed readers and miss out on that information because it passes by too fast. It would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again.
offthehook4u I FEEL EXACTLY THE SAME WAY! I have to rewind every time because I myself am a slow reader. I've been wanting ask Carolyn the same thing but you beat me to it!!
I'm so glad you are not going any where. Right now family situation doesn't allow me to be on the road. Watching your videos gives me hope that I will be there some day. YOU ROCK.!!
Carolyn, you are so radiant and beautiful. Your skin looks amazing!!! It must be all that natural, vegan food you eat. Stay healthy and most importantly stay on RU-vid. There are so many of us who love you but are not as vocal as the people who fill your message box/comments with negativity and hate, But that's always how it is. Those who are at peace with themselves have nothing to prove for and simply enjoy your videos and draw inspiration from them while those whose soul is burning with unrest need an outlet to pour out their negativity. But please remember that the hate that you recieve says nothing about you and says so much about the hater. These are unhappy folks! Many feel cheated by the system themselves yet feel powerless against it. They only feel powerful hidden behind the comfort of the computer screens spewing hate. Pity them as they are sad creatures who have given up on themselves and on humanity.
Great video. Glad you decided to stay! It was nice to meet you at the RTR. Looking forward to reading your book, so far so good. Thank you :-) Happy Travels!
Carolyn, I just wanted to thank you for sharing your life with us. I am so glad I have found your channel. I have been watching ur videos in order. ( thank you for setting that up) I just wanted to say thank you. 💖💖💖 Ur such a sweet inspiration!! I have learned, being entertained ( I love it when you let go and let the words fly lmao) and most of all, you make me laugh so many times at just the right moment!💖
I am recently gone back to a vegan lifestyle and I live in Southern Arizona. About 25 miles south of Tucson. We only have 2 Safeway stores; one at either end of town. However in the next town there is a Wal-Mart, a Frys, and this week they just opened a Sprouts. Now no shortage of vegan option s. I even go to the local 99 cent store for veggies and fruits; nut milks; coconut milk, cream, and water. You would be amazed what else you can find there. Love your stories. Keep on keepin on.
Carolyn, as a peer. I respect that you are doing what you want to do and commend you. I wish I was so brave. I thought I took a chance when I moved into a Mobile Home to live on a lake, being divorced and not wanting to buy another home. I made sacrifices but I am really comfortable and still work. I'd love to quit and have your freedom. Remember as Adam the Woo says, "there may be those haters, but do what you love and remember there are so many more the times who support and love you". You are welcome to visit and stay in Orlando, there will be a place for your RV.
I also enjoy eating vegetarian and vegan. Enjoyed your interview with Simian - what a sweet guy! Might as well load up on your food supplies while you're still in the area.
I'm surprised you don't have a nutri-bullet of something like that and have you own aquaponic herbs and veggies growing in the RV. I saw a Tiny House guy that travelled and that is what he had but he was a vegetarian and he had a chicken hutch built at the end of the tiny house. Got fresh eggs!
You are looking so healthy! My son Jared gave me the link to this one. He is vegan. Maybe you can do a few videos on becoming a vegan. Really enjoy watching you.
I, too, am a vegan. A little different than you are! I eat raw vegan plant food. I juice for breakfast. a smoothie for lunch and a large salad for dinner. If I get hungry in-between meals, I snack on fresh fruits or veggies. Most of my shopping is done at Walmart or Whole Foods. No problem fixing myself healthy meals every day! Thanks for the vid! Happy journey!
dear carolyn, just wanted to say that you inspire me every single time I watch one of your videos. You are an amazing brave woman who always faces her fears in order to overcome the challenges and the result is that you end up finding out new talents you already had but were hidden. Thanks for helping me believe in myself more and fight for my dreams too and not simply accept what's been imposed by society.
Ellen -- your message means a lot to me-- yay!! Yes, believe in yourself. You too have hidden talents and maybe even depths of courage, you never imagined were there! I know that just the fact you can watch my videos and look inside at what you want and dare dream of you too are a very strong and brave woman... (some can't see/watch and have to be mean or loudly announce they're unsubbing).. So you. my strong sister can do anything you set your heart to!! Good luck and thank you!
Awesome. I'm always worried about finding vegan choices. I rode to WV and back to Dallas on French fries. And don't ask Wendy's to take the feta cheese off. I can't wait to see a grocery haul or something. Glad you're sticking around too. :-)
keep posting, you're doing a great job on everything. I'm learning from you so when I can get free from one tie that binds, I can become a rolling stone again. I used to move around a lot but never in a RV. I went through homeless shelters till I could get on my feet and get a company started. Good Luck and Keep on Truckin.......
You go girl!!! Thank you for showing up, daring greatly" and being bold enough to step into the arena every week. I'm going to tag every negative comment for now on, with "cheap seat"...lol. I'll probably get my ass kicked but I don't care...LMAO.
Linda - oh my gosh did you see that video?? Isn't it brilliant? Totally turned me around.. 'I choose to stand in Courage".. wow I appreciate you tagging negative comments. I hope our community can just flag them for removal without engaging.. I know it's tough, every once in a while, I get triggered and engage. I've been going through and deleting anyone who is nasty or mean - whether to me or anyone else in our community. I want this to be a safe place for all.. We can have healthy debate, but name calling, shaming and bullying will not be tolerated... Thank you so much!!! I am very glad you're here!
It’d be a lot easier for everyone to be healthier and plant-based if there were more places like this. More people would see just how good the food really is. We’ve been suckered into thinking we need grease and fat and meat.
scratch and dent was a great place to shop and stock up on some stuff that you need on the road it was one of the few places in Quartzsite I enjoyed everything else was little bit more expensive
I would love to see a 'what I eat in a day as a vegan RVer' video...I'm transitioning and have wondered what kind of meals you prepare for yourself on the road...oh, and you should have Bob eat a vegan dinner with you! :-)
LOL I could see you putting that T-Rex on top of your camper. He'd definitely scare away the haters. ;) So glad you found food that was more to your liking. The fast food salads are good but not as good as what you bought. Keep on posting. Love living vicariously through you, and Bob. You are doing something I have dreamed of doing for a long time, just have never had that opportunity come up. HUGZ
A great staple for non meat eating is black lentils (which you need due to the iron) and rice. I make a pot (crock pot) and then use them in everything. My favorite, a quicky, is in a wrap with all the goodies nuked or raw. Yum :)
Thanks for sharing this, Carolyn! Really enjoying your videos. As a diabetic vegan trying to be raw on the road, its good to know where the healthy options are.
I so appreciate this video! I am brand new to the youtubes and I just made a vid today asking for input on eating healthy in my rv, so then your vid came up next so of course I had to follow you. Thanks for this! :)
I like the smoothies. just can't find those places at truck stops where they are reasonably priced. everything costs 2 to 3 times more as everyone thinks truckdrivers make soooo much I would like it if people tried this life for a month but doubt most would last a month.
Try and get a plant based "vegan" powder to stir in a water. The powder will meet your nutritional/vitamin/minerals foods daily.....especially if you don't feel like making a meal. Glad you were able to video some of store items....nice options. Thanks Glad your here to stay making videos....take breaks when you need them....I am an introvert to.....take breaks ...re-group ...then come back. 🌞🙂
I'm not a vegan but there are vegan dishes that I do like. I am hoping to be able to be parked in a spot long enough to be having a sort of hanging garden and getting some of my favs from that to use in cooking and such. I do hope to be out at Quartzsite sometime in the near future. Good job Carolyn!!
Yay Carolyn, love your " NEW" confidence and I am happy you are rising above all that shit and moving on with what makes you happy.. Like i said in my other post the other day, rise above, ignore the negative ppl and be happy.. Hope you have a happy day.. xoxo
Christine. I have been telling myself that I must be doing something important if it's so hated. I decided the more they hate, the more real I'll be and realize the more hate I get the more successful I must be! :-) thank you so much for being a true Friendly!!
Im proud of ya Carolyn.. I so much enjoy your videos and I dont like to see you falling in that rut of worrying what others say.. One of the reasons i like you so much is because you are real, honest and caring.. and you are absolutely right when you say the more they hate the more real youll be.. If you always stay true to yourself all other things will fall into place.. give Capone kisses for me and always be happy..
So glad to see something on veganism and RV life. I will be retiring in 2 yrs and plan to RV a lot. My number one concern is finding vegan, healthy, preferably organic food while on the road. I am delighted to find more and more healthy vegan options out there! Thanks for the great info!
Good to hear you are sticking around - I saw you getting sucked into the "hater" thing...anyone who had made videos for RU-vid knows that you just have to ignore them - "don't feed the Troll" and all that. Easier said than done sometimes, I know :-) I am also incorporating more plant-based foods into my diet...it will be a long haul for me...but it's the right thing to do if you don't want to wreck your own body and want to be kind to animals...
Omgosh when you went into that discount grocery I was in heaven and so jealous... I am addicted to Luna bars and Tazo tea expecially chai.. and when it showed the flaxseed and the Chia seeds I have a great recipe for chia seed pudding... oh well maybe next year... and dang it girl you better not go anywhere I enjoy my videos then your points of view and even though I am a trump person... is several friends that aren't and I'm certain forums in our lives we always agree to disagree but that does not mean that we don't have heated discussions which usually ends up with us laughing at each other that's what makes us human we have a right to be passionate about what we feel... anyways be safe give Capone a hug from me... I so hope to see you next year... and I'm glad you brought up in that discussion the true meaning of an introvert my friends don't believe me when I tell them that's what I am...Blessed Be
Yay!! I'm so glad you're sticking around. Lol, your RV most definitely needs a dinosaur, right up on top where he can guard your rig and your campsite. The scratch and dent store looks amazing! If this store is a small business, I bet its someone's livelihood. A lot of the times, business don't want people filming because it can be more of a legal issue, especially for smaller businesses. If something were to happen and someone decided to sue, they might not be able to afford it and would have to close down. I could be completely wrong though. However it's sliced, as you said, it's probably better to just ask first. As for the comments you get: I've scrolled through some of them and its disheartening other people think this is ok. I agree with you that those kinds of comments certainly comes from a place of misunderstanding, narcissism, jealousy and/or resentment. Or all of the above. The people making those comments may not even be aware of the reasons why they are being so hateful. As the saying goes: They need to check themselves before they wreck themselves. And now back to the more uplifting things... the RTR looks like a lot of fun. A lot of people in one place, but also lot of fun. I'm an introvert as well but I'm also fascinated by people and the stories they have to tell. I'm looking forward to coming next year!
I think Capone could still take on Rex, if he was inspired to. Enjoyed seeing him curl up in the seat behind you. Glad to see you looking happy and healthy.
Hi Carolyn you are looking fab, really settled in your vlogs. You seem to have found your place and you are being real and being you and hey If someone has a problem, they could take a long walk of a short pier, they can just go in a different direction from you? Without being rude obviously. I am truly happy for you it's so cool seeing you content and other rvr's also. Keep on keeping on, love to Capone xXx
dont feel guilty about the fries, ok? the grease keeps our skin young and potatoes are the perfect food. salt for hormonal balance, but i am partial to lite salt----70% potassium ? other foods good for emotional balance are olives and peanuts--i learned this goin thru menopause and breakdown at the same time.
THANK YOU for promoting this guy's/(Simeon's) small business! too pricey for me, but i know the money'd go to bigger plans of his! and he travels around with this business!!! what a determined 'go-getter'!!!!......... yesterday, i was gonna tell you about these 5-ft. tall TEDDY BEARS at Safeway, but decided you already have a dog and wouldn't be interested in driving around with 3-5 large, stuffed bears! $60/each!!!! (lol)/now, you're dreaming about having a HEAVY METAL DINOSAUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-0
