In this video we had made the journey up north to fish due to our local beaches being closed due to the high levels of E. coli. After thinking about it for a while we decided to take a chance and drive up to Ballito beach to fish of the ledges to target any fish that would bite.
We prepared all of our tackle and packed the car the night before so that we could leave as early as possible to head up the coast. We had sources a variety of bait so that we could target almost any species that we would expect in that area.
We arrived at the beach at around 6am and after looking at a few different spots we noticed that the water was really flat with almost little to no wind making the sea very calm which makes edible fishing really difficult. Kam found a nice gully with some working white water which looked really good to produce a good fish
We had both decided to carry our KP's which we are really having fun fishing with at the moment, and we decided to try and get a good fish hooked up on it. Kam tied his general bronze bream trace and started with some prawn in the gully and on his second throw hooked a fish which turned out to be a zebra fish and a few throws later had a bite from a much larger fish which unfortunately came off the hook but a few minutes later Keens rod dipped, and line was flying of his KP.
He managed to stop the fish before it took him around the reefs and started to guide it into the gully. after a quick fight and using the water to bring the fish to Kam he landed an absolutely amazing specimen of a Pompano which is not a common fish caught by anglers on our shores. his fish weighed in at about 3kg's and was an amazing achievement on his first time properly fishing with a KP
