For those familiar with the HoBao name, you probably know them for their ⅛-scale offerings. They have a great selection of nitro and electric buggies, truggies, monster trucks and even on-road vehicles. But they didn’t have a trail truck in their mix… until now. The company has released their first 1/10-scale electric off-road ready to run 4wd trail truck; the Hobao DC1. We were among the first to receive a truck for review and we’re pretty excited about some of the trucks features, CNC machined aluminum frame rails, steel gears in the driveline, aluminum links, aluminum shocks, and a detailed body (with LED light buckets;) although it’s not modeled after any licensed real vehicle. We do our thing with this new kit and give you all the details about its features, then hit the trails for some action and wrap it up with a performance report. Great video. 👍 It looks like a really good stock truck. Love the 2 speed transmission. I'm looking forward to people putting them to the test and saying what broke and what needs to be upgraded and what parts they went with. Excellent job with the video. 👍👍 always look forward to the next one. I personally enjoy these longer vids. Better than what's on tv. Haha

The reason i watch your chanell, is that you describe everything on the vehicles and we know what is more suitable to anyone that want to buy something. If you can, keep your character , you speak nice , you know what you say and i like it. Don't stop to describe everything on the vehicles, you doing more than perfect and this is we like it .

Sweet truck, love the features and the price is right for what you get. This kills everything close in price, the detail, aluminum, links, cv joints, roof rack, spare tire holder, metal shocks, camber adjustment, two speed tranny, inner fenders, floorboards, molded body parts (grill, side runners, door handles) oh my. It certainly isn't a comp truck, nor is it just a backyard truck. I'd say for the money it's the best out of the box trail truck. :)

Last year I bought a trx-4 one of the first to have one lollll and trills with all it can do and the look of it . When I saw the first add for this hobao seriously never ear of this and immediately I that of a Chinese knock-off But from what I saw on your video ..... man was I in the wrong guessing it look astonishing and the body I just won’t stop talking about it it looks wonderful 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

I've got one on pre-order in grey, love the look of the body to me it resembles the Mercedes G Wagen more than the Defender. Great in depth video, Keep up the good work.

You're right it's definitely inspired by the G-Wagen rather than the Defender. It was the first thing I thought when I saw it.

True. I don't know of any Rc vehicle that does not need upgrades. That's part of the hobby. What's important is the build. This crawler looks really solid. My Axial's fall apart just looking at them wrong.

Excellent review my dude! Properly in depth. I'm subbed now!!!! I'm about to take a 1.5 hour drive over to the Sussex Model Centre UK and check one of these out. Though it will be up against the more expensive FTX Outback GEO and Texan trail crawlers. I appreciate the Land Rover style body shell as I love the older more squared off type.. I've owned Ho-Bao before, had a 1/8 truggy way back. LoL, I converted it to brushless from nitro and stripped all the wheel hexes out in some clay type mud! Was fun though! 😂

I would rather have the option to pay less for a BND kit and have one less crappy spare radio. Are any of these cheap in-box radios/receivers even compatible with any name brand systems (like the losi DSM radios before they started just shipping with Spektrum)? Nice acoustic version of "I will get by" during the crawl there.

What a great looking trail rig. That servo to give you an idea the stock tatic that comes on axials are 140-150ish oz of torque not bad for an rtr. Odd shock setup though about the only thing thats odd to me.

Looks like a pretty great rig! Definitely think they did a good job with this one 👍👍👊👊📹📹I thought it looked fun,idk why the disappointment but it’s gonna take some tuning like u said if ur way into it,but out the box seemed ok, I still would buy the scx10 2 or the trx4 over this rig even though it’s pretty sweet looking, being a paraplegic stuck in a wheelchair I can’t go on many trails but love the customizing n everything that goes with crawling so my backyard n indoor tracks at hobbyshop r only options

RcDriver Thanks for the review. Awesome as usual. Can you please tell me what the "Mount Hole distance" is for the front and rear bumper in millimeters? I have my eye on a particular set that has a winch placement and trailer hitch and would like to order it before I get the truck. Thank you so much.

As usual, great video and lots of detail....but in this circumstance,I can say I disagree with you, it actually seemed like you were cutting this rig short.. As a scale crawler or trail machine, this thing looks awesome. I think to many people want realistic looks with comp performance and when that happens..sign me up. dollar for dollar, I would take this over the traxxas or axial any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Your not gentle with your cars and the most you came up with is a couple loose screws!?!?!?!. Tuning your rigs all part of the fun... I like this rig, Thanks to your video tower with be getting more of my money!! :o))

Of coarse they are getting into the trail / crawling scene,reason being is the whole racing scene here in PA,is all but gone,so yeah i think they feel without this type of rc they would probably go under.Not sure if the racing scene in other states is the same or not.

What do u do with the rc’s that u get sent to u do u either keep them or sell them? Seeing if u have any rc’s ur selling? I can see myself getting a Traxxas chassis kit and fitting that body to it. It can't be any heavier than my defender with all the scale stuff on it. At least I can make the Traxxas chassis bottom heavy and wider.

The dirt portion was filmed behind the Wolcott Hobby Shop in Wolcott CT and the Rocks are at Lovers Leap Park in New Milford CT.

It looks like a well-constructed rig I am pretty impressed with the chassis I just wish something different would have been done with the body the defender Land Rover body is just over done in my opinion. And all my days of trailing and crawling I can't even remember if I've off roaded with a Land Rover Toyota pickups Jeeps Land Cruisers this is what would be truthfully more scale in my opinion

Ok look great but I saw some flaws fixable flaws but anyway the tires on this doesn’t look very sticky and the suspension look stiff as a titanium shaft lolllll It doesn’t absorb any of the rocks on the trails it’s bouncing out of it but look great anyway

The body looks a cross between Traxxas Defender and Mercedes G 500, The ride is poor, and, HoBao, isn't that Chinese for, what the----? Traxxas wins. . . I noticed you would run a comparison between, what's it called again---? HoBao, and Traxxas, well that's because there's no basis for comparison. . .

Hobao are from Taiwan and have won dozens of RC world titles, they are a premium brand. Had a lot of their nitro buggies and they are almost unbreakable. They used to be sold as 'Ofna' in the USA.
