A good fun ride following Karl on his new 2011 Speed Triple in the Italian twisties. Some mixed surfaces in the dry in the middle of a 9 day trip in The Alps. I want to go back! Find this road in Google Maps searching for "SS52, Forni di Sopra, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy"

You just cant beat Southern Germany /Austria / Italian Alps, best roads ive ever been on, cant wait to go back!! great video, i dont know if i could cope with living somewhere like Australia, like the chap above says, twisties are few and far between...

Nice Vid.........and those italian roads WOW!! I have ridden around the italian lakes, Maggiore, Como & Garda.....fantastic. Also the 'Route de Grandes Alps' from Menton in the south of France to Lake Geneva was superb, as you say its a 2 day hike on some boring motorways to get there, but when you do.............its worth every mile.

Nice work MrEunuch :) I would probably have to ride 6 - 8 hours before i could get to a place where i could record a 14 minute clip that didn't need all the boring places edited out! very jealous. Great riding, great clip. Ride safe.

@MrEunuch Thanks! I spend half my time in the Alps, just south of Simplon pass in Switzerland. Have found several very interesting streches of winding and scenic roads, Posted a couple here filmed with the gopro. But I'm always on the lookout for new ones. Yours is super. Cheers!

Hi. I've had 6 great years on GS's covering 50K fun miles (no commuting or work) and at some point I'll go back to them, but I just wanted something with a little more sparkle for a while. In reality there's very little between them in the twisties BUT the KTM smacks a great big grin across your face every ride. Feels more like the kicks I got when I was 18. BMW is more polished and I have yet to test what the KTM is like on a 3K mile tour of the Alps - time will tell. New baby is 990 SMT ;-)

@timothemad Thanks. A great stretch of road and was about 40 mins in total. Bit of a jaunt to get to the real fun bits across the Alps from the UK but well worth it, especially when you're there for a week. Some of my local haunts are pretty challanging but they aren't as empty and these remote places midweek. In Italy 'progressive' riding/driving is actively encouraged .. I've even had a passort control guy ask me to do a wheelie as he handed back my passort. Yes really.

@hazelwoodmtb Thanks. And I hear ya about having to travel to find the fun .. no pain, no gain ;-). We take best part of 2 days to get from UK to the heart of the Alps where you can ride roads like that day after day. Makes a 9 day trip worth it. If it wasn't already a really long day (8-10 hrs) to get to the next hotel I'd want to go back and do some of them again and again. BTW, I have hours of boring video I never load up too.

Many thanks. All I wanted to do at the time was go back and do it again. I could have spent the whole 10 days just doing that!

@MrEunuch :-) oh no, just a clever use of the pause button... I actually don't know the northneastern portion, but i have always heard rage reports and now your videos, will definitely have to plan a ride there sometimes next spring or summer. What part of the UK are you from?

@MrEunuch I rode to UK in 2008, visited Wales and Scotland and London to see friends, unfortunately only passed quickly through the south, will come again. I live in Rome but work west of Milan towards the lakes, and when i'm up there for work I stay just south of Simplon Pass near Domodossola. I try to take advantage of any spare time by riding around discovering new roads, and there are plenty! Should you plan a visit around here, definitely give me a shout, will show you around.

@biziomd11 I'm conscious a few people have asked about this road and I'll have to dig out Garmin route maps to check (bad memory). Will get back to you.

Oh, quite good video, where in Italy is this road?
@MrEunuch
@MrEunuch 12 лет назад
@biziomd11 Hampshire on the south coast. Getting over to France is pretty painless so better roads (not too bad here, just poor surface and not a lot of hills/mountains unless you go to Wales or Scotland) and the mountains not too far away. Whereabouts are you?
@MrEunuch

@biziomd11 Hey. You live in a great part of the world, and my Ducati owning friends will be very jealous ;-). Have been to Italy maybe 5 or 6 times and apart from skiing there with the school once everyone otehr time has been by bike. Only really in the north and around the lakes otehrwise distance starts clocking up. Very beautiful area. Thanks for the offer to see some loacal roads. May well take you up on that kind offer some time :-). Cheers, Darren

A "fun ride" can be had also by not braking every rule in the book. Your riding style would be much more appropriate in a racing circuit; definitely NOT on a public road and your hands would be much better off holding the handlebar, rather than gesticulating "OK" and thumb up signs to yourself in the mirror. Your riding is highly inappropriate and I think that to display that sort of riding style you should go to a racetrack where you can't hurt anyone.
