This was a really fun project. We will mix colors that granulate and do fun dripping, lifting, spattering, latering and erasing techniques today! Let's paint!

I love loose watercolor. It is my favorite. I feel like it is just soooo fun to color outside of the lines and yet it looks so elegant. Thank you for sharing Lindsay! I love watching you do watercolors - always turns out so beautiful.

Years ago we had a chihuahua/terrier mix named Poppy. She looked like the Taco Bell dog, she would catch flies and actually eat them. We called her our Venus Fly Trap. She would also sit in the back window of our car, when we went any where. I don't know how many times people thought she was one of those head bobbing toy dogs. They were always amazed because she would lean into the curves when we drove anywhere. She never once fell off. Miss our Poppy, she lived to be 16yrs. old. BTW I love this painting you did! TFS

Lindsay this was wonderful! I love the long format and you using watercolor. The bird on the right is my favorite - looks like he’s just ready to do a fluff-up, and is saying “do you mind!”, lol! Thanks for this 🌺

Such lovely birds! Adorable! Birds are little dinosaurs and I love them, all of them. My cat likes to help me paint sometimes, especially during the colder months when he is not outside as much. Then he usually starts to bite my legs and hop on my desk the moment that he sees me grab my brush. He's an old little guy, 20+, but he is still as annoying as a 1 year old. I hope that means he is still very healthy and will stay with us for a long time.

Love to see you doing some watercolor again. Very calming and relaxing to watch and listen to your process. I didn't realize Mission Gold were so granulating. What wonderful colors, especially that reddish brown shade. I don't have the pans but I have the tubes. I will have to give them another look. I really like the way the bird on the right turned out. He's like, "What? You never say 3 birds on a wire before?"

I love painting birds! They are some of my most favorite things to paint. I don't really watch your videos for the tutorials but more just to see you paint, or I put you on in the background while I paint. It's just nice to listen to someone while I work.

Supper excited to see this today. This morning while I was cleaning I looked out the window and saw five kereru (NZ Wood pigeons) on the power line. Thankfully I had my phone in back pocked I got quite a few snaps of them. Then some normal pigeons walked down the berm yippee snapped them as well. I be in bird overload. I am so gonna try and paint them after seeing this tutorial. Thank you Lindsay. Very cool picture love the splatters.

Absolutely love this Lindsay! I enjoyed the longer format too. I made sure to wait until I could watch it all the way through so RU-vid doesn’t penalize you for me stopping and starting. That palette was my first professional set, many watercolor dollars ago! Still the one I grab the most often. It also started my love affair with PY150 and PG36, not many starter palettes include those, and I use them all the time.

Love this. My Mom's funny story about my cat, Willoughby, "helping" her paint. He was my cat but I was away for a year. Her studio was in the basement. She was home alone and painting. Willoughby wanted attention. He twined around the easel, she ignored him. He twined around the projector stand (she painted from slides), she ignored him. He twined around her legs. He talked, she talked back but ignored him. He got up on a table near her, she ignored him. He made a flying leap and landed smack dab in the middle of her palette. THAT got her attention! She said he purred madly the whole time she was cleaning paint off his paws. I wrote back that part of his problem was that the basement floor was cold. She needed a cozy spot up off the floor for him, and to put him on it while petting him, and he'd just sleep while she painted. It worked. Details. The table was full of supplies, no room for a sleeping cat. I was an exchange student.

I enjoyed this story, but it made me think that maybe we'd missed a cameo from one of Lindsay's cats! I was disappointed to reach the end of the video and see zero cats. haha

I Love this painting!!! You seemed to really take your time and enjoy it. The color palette is so pleasing and slightly unexpected- it’s very interesting and beautiful!!!! Those birds are adorable! 😆 reminds me of a school poem we had to read “eavesdropping Birds”(about 17 years ago so forgot half of it) and apparently Phil and Lucy were eavesdropping while sitting on the telephone wires📞

I like the size of that paper. I have some larger Canson Watercolor pads I got on clearance at Walmart. I am going to cut one in half on the guillotine at work and try this pretty painting first.

I was really interested in your concept of 'doneness'. I hadn't thought of that as being something so personal but you are right. I keep trying to imitate other artissts but I actually think my personal taste might be more minimalist. I'm going to try keeping things a bit simple and see if I am happier with the results. As always I thoroughly enjoyed watching you paint Lindsay!

Birdie conference! LOL I love these little guys and can't wait to try this.. Yep one of my 5 cats, loves to paint with me, dips his paws in the paint or sits on the paper and tells me that's enough! Another one loves to throw everything on the floor. LOL Can you show us how to paint tabby cats? You painted a black one years ago, I did paint that one it was fun. Makes me want to paint some now 👍Also re: wc paper…when I didn’t want to spend the money or have the money for an expensive pad of 100%cotton paper, I’ve bought one sheet of the good stuff that gave me at least SOME of what I wanted when using “the best” is important. I don’t recall what I paid at my local fine art supply but just looked at Blick’s for instance and they sell individual 22x30 sheets of Fabriano 100% cotton for $6.28! Yes, you have to cut it yourself, but that shouldn’t be too bad.

Those magic erasers are expanded or foam melamine. They have sold them in bulk on Amazon probably other places for really cheap!

I recently picked up a mechanical eraser... I'm on the fence about the actual motorized erasing but I adore the eraser itself.. it's a white rubber but the cool part is it is extremely thin. You can get right in there and erase exactly what you want. The handle is wide enough to be comfortable to hold and accurate to use... it's also refillable. I find myself reaching for it constantly.

I cut the magic erasure to a small size with a scissors. I wet it and wring out the extra water, then I fold it and grasp it with a tweezers. I have a pointy point then or a squared area controlled by the tweezers. It works real well for controlled and small lifting.

Making one with a heating tool and plastic. As soon as she said see through. I have an idea on how to make it I would need the original for sizing and measuring but I believe I could do that with a soldering tool or wood burner.

Sounds like the sizing send bad. You can use it for gouache or pastel.

16:57 Totally agree! 💚 Somewhat surprised by your pencil "technique" (by lack of a better word). As far as I know we "write" and accentuate with the point of the tip of the pencil? Drawing, especially sketching, is done with the side of the tip? That's how I was taught... what do I know? 😸 Seriously favour the granulated bird at 16:57. Thanks!
