Hello friends,
you have landed on this fun area where you will learn a little bit about Autism and how the world around it is discovered.
Our daughter was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at the age of 2 with level 2 in both areas (communication and social) the levels can change during her lifetime anywhere from 1 to 3 with 3 needing the most support. She can be reevaluated at age 5 to see if anything has changed especially since she does receive therapy. She is verbal but has Hypotonia (low muscle tone) and has displayed signs of Pica (mouthing or eating of inedible items) which has fortunately become less and less. We share what we know and hope you enjoy with us these magical moments as well as learn a bit about autism yourself. Come along and learn how she interacts with these toys which are not necessarily specialty toys. She loves all things cute and girly. Being on the spectrum we never know what type of toy will be overwhelming or too much to process sensory wise. She was attending preschool and is now doing ABA therapy which has helped her make amazing strides forward.
Today we are getting new toys and visiting the dentist. These are her first toys of this kind and she was the one asking for them. We were not sure if these are toys she will actually play with or leave them in the corner. She watches the show Numberblocks (NOT SPONSORED) all the time and we gave in. The reason we were skeptical is the fact that these do not come apart like the actual numberblocks that you use to count. The plush one makes sounds and being on the autism spectrum you never know how well they will do with the sounds, the textures, the activity itself. Supposedly you have two settings and two different volume levels. Let's see how it goes for her. We hope to give you an insight on what type of toys a child with autism likes to play with and how she handles new toys.
We also have our dental check up today which is always a tricky thing as many children on the autism spectrum are not very fond of going to the dentist or brushing their teeth due to the sensory overload that can occur. Wish us luck. Our lil one is 4 years old level 2 and this will be her 3rd time with this new dentist.

The pieces are quite large and for ages 3 and up. If the sound gets to be too much you can always take off the batteries. Nothing else comes off the pieces.
