if you play G on it you will be in Dorian mode if C, and it works well on this track. Better still if you mix it with C pentatonic minor.

That makes no sense at all... if you were in G Dorian you would be in the key of F major/D minor, or if you were in C Dorian you would be in the key of Bb Major/G minor. Try not to confuse anyone else with your uneducated comments. The description for this track states it is in C major... (which is also wrong!) It's actually in C Mixolydan (Chords are a classic I IV V - C7, F7 and G7 (all dominant 7 chords)). This would give you a G Dorian 'Shape' or 'Scale Position' but it not the in the same key as G Dorian.

@@megashredderofkate i know this comment is old one, but i dont understand, how you can play over all these chords with only one scale? Like C Mixolydian works for root chord C7, but F7 has Eb, which isnt in mixolydian. And its obvious that G7 doesnt fit in mixolydian either, because it has B, not Bb from mixolydian. Im pretty new for all that guitar improv, but i believe we should use different scales for each chord?

It's C7 you can play lydian dominant over it or mixolydian over it

Chris W I still have no idea when to know whether you play mixolydian, dorian or whatever scale. I totally need an ABC handbook on this whole subject!!!!
