Funk use to be a bad word! earth hot air and no fire, Goerge called them all out. I was 14 when this album hit and my mom said oh no, you're not listening to that stuff. By time 1975 rolled around and Parliaments Mothership connection had landed. Iwas a full fledge Funkateer. George had a contest to name the mothership. Me and my brother called it chocolate Rainbow won 3rd place. won albums and free tickets to the mothership connection concert Shrine auditorium 1975 .

I'm puttin' my hands together for ya' my Boi! '72 was my introduction to THE FUNK...... muh Boi-(name withheld for copyright infringements assumedly....) was boppin' down THE MAIN HALL RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE PRINCIPLES' ORIFICE(!!!) skippin' classes with a tape deck circa 1972 now, when I accosted him asked him who the hell was that. He says " it's Funkadelic, man". I asked him again "What's a Funkadelic?" Well, since you're a Funkateer then you know the rest, right?

And they remain to this day the God(zilla)s of Funk. The baddest mothers in the land. Badder than Mr. Dynamite hisself. Prince got real close. Stevie too. There is an argument to be made for Rick James, I suppose. Sly, of course. But none can compete with the Funkadelics. Full stop.

@@ryanbiddle6006 very well said... although I feel that Sly had to tone down the funk in order to be more mainstream, ( I mean that's just my theory I have a high regard for Sly,s music) George and Sly studying the essence of Funkology but different approach. One of the most interesting and underrated albums funkadelic did along with "the electric spanking of war babies " (doesn't that sound like a title zappa would come up with,? ) . This whole album is just a smoker start to end . Clinton and company definitely lean into there more sarcastic/cynical side. The guitar work is scorching, unique and sounds effortless really unique compositions pop up everywhere. When I'm in the mood for some guitar-centric p funk rockers this is always my #1 choice

I've been listening to funkadelic since forever, my father raised me on a lot of music. Only now do I understand that true melancholy that The song is Familiar has always given me just a taste of. The song is very familiar. I didn't realize how applicable it was until I was halfway through, and that blew me away. Funkadelic: A dictionary of emotion.

Funkedelic was Psych. It was in the name. It was Psych with a African American Beat though. In many ways this was the ultimate rock music. A guitarist who veered into Metal and maybe Southern and Latin Influences too. It was what Rock meant in a African Ammerican Context in The 50s but it was also what it meant at the time and what Funk (largely an extension of older less Whitewashed rock) meant at the time and Prog in Europe. The Guitarist was obsessed with Black Sabbath too. It was all The Rocks that existed at the time condensed.

I remember Tiki Fulwood living in S.E. DC when I was in my early teens, around 73"-75". My buddy and myself used to say, I think he's a Funkadelic, then someone told us he was. George and some members of the group lived in DC I think during or BEFORE the Chocolate City album years. Tiki used to wear jeans, jeans jacket, a floppy hat and boots with drum sticks hanging out of the boots (all the time), so we assumed he was the drummer. As a kid we thought he was (WEIRD) and weird looking but he fit right in with the older teens and trippy weed smoking/acid adults in the neighborhood who was into rock music and other funk bands like Mandrill, WAR, etc. Tiki Fulwood created a band in DC after he left PFunk I remember. I read that he died in DC also.

original dis track peep the line about James Brown and Earth Wind and Fire ... Earth hot air and no fire...😂 God father more like the God mother... Bootsy left James Brown and came to work with George Clinton. at that time all 3 were funky but they claimed to be the best I love James Brown and Earth Wind and fire but George Clinton changed the game with what he could do with music... just my opinion. once my dad introduced me to the funk I was hooked and never looked back. one comment said this should be religion it was in my house we all can recite funkadelic lyrics like Bible verses real talk.

I have a Bass playing Funkle who I roadied for when I was 19. He put me onto the Funk. I realized that the nastiness in all the metal breakdowns and nu-metal riffs was ACTUALLY the funky pocket they were attempting. The early Funkadelic records are hard hitting, but have the slick funky bounce and psychedelia...the bands that attempted to copy it (Red Hot Chili Peppers etc) do not come close.

That scary album cover looks like *a 'The Exorcist' parody* when the demon Pazuzu wrotes messages on the belly of the possessed girl Regan (performed by actress Linda Blair).

Feelin better by the pound is my shit. Makes me think about how all the human race does is bone bone bone bone. Is there anything else to life? I sure hope so. Funkadelic seemed to hint at it and that's why i love em and this album is the best of the best of the best. Copulatin reproducin babies babies mo babies mo babies. WTF right? Don't we have enough people on the planet at this point. I never had kids. Used to eat me up inside. Now I'm thinkin I'm right where i need to be. Attachment free and McLoven every god damn minute of it.
