Those pop protectors doesn’t look too bad. I personally like the ones from GameStop, but I gotta give those a try. I agree with you with the tab. The tab should fold in the back, not the front haha
To me... They aren't budget friendly, from an economic perspective. 20 of these at $6.88/1-5pk (4 packs) =$27.52. You can get a 20 pack of PopShield protectors .45mm for $19, with Free shipping 7bucksapop... (Not including taxes for either, just retail price.) Minus having to wait for them, you get more bang for your buck, so to speak, to go with a different option. Thickness and pricing, it's a better deal. Plus, these 5 packs, if you are buying 1-2 at a time, with taxes, you are spending even more money each time you purchase. I wasn't that impressed with the Funko protectors. Easy to assemble, I will give them that. But, mine have fingerprints all over them. They don't seem to have any protection from that. Great idea for shipping or to try and keep rips/tears from an already damaged box, from more damage. Or, just to use for the ride home, to keep them from getting knocked around. They aren't terrible but, I think they could have done better considering that they would know exactly what was needed, precise measurements, weight load, minimize damage risks...to make the best protector available. As far as thickness of those Funko protectors... I'm a Diecast car collector as well. $1 Hotwheels cars, have thicker plastic protectors covering their cars... They aren't fully immune to dents and breaks however, the vast majority are all dumped into cardboard or wire dump bins, shoved on pegs... Check out a dump bin full of those cars sometime. Guarantee you that you will find less damage to the shell case, than you would expect. Majority end up unscathed, unlike the cards they are attached to but... I digress. I'd trust that plastic protector to keep my stuff protected over the Funko brand protectors. Just saying.
