For the RPG-2: strapping wood to the outside of the vehicle isn't a dumb idea (surprisingly). The RPG explodes on contact, but if the contact is a soft wood instead of a hard steel it may actually fail to detonate, saving the vehicle. This obviously only works for the RPGs though, as conventional rifle ammo will breeze through it, so it's a very niche solution.

Emu's(EM U U U-pronunciation) are not only tough and cunning, but their highly erratic movements make them nearly impossible to hit in the first place.

The wood detonates the weak warhead of the RPG pre-maturley at a distance from the armor, potentially saving the soldiers inside the vehicle. So, wooden planks are the PERFECT defense for shaped charge warheads like on anti-vehicle RPGs. The wood doesn't melt under the high pressure stream of liquid metal shot out of the warhead and absorbs a large amount of the blast. Wood is also very cheap, easy to install and light weight. Soldiers in WWII on both sides used to place wooden logs on their tanks to stop panzerfaust and bazooka rounds. And it worked great.

Justice for the Philippines . It was because the rounds of the RPG was explosive or anti-personal we used wood and others to make explosion go first to not make it penetrate the weak armor of the vehicles/APC. that's why now make this go fellow Filipinos 19:21

20:00 - A thought about that dodgy wooden tank-armour: it WOULD be effective against magnetic mines and other similar 'infantry thrown' magnetic explosive devices. Also, I think RPGs explode on contact, so having the warhead detonate against the 'wooden ablative armour' as opposed to the vehicle itself might dissipate a lot of the destructive force. Or not. I don't know. Whatever.

The great Emu war was only 3 Royal Australian Artillery men trying to cull 20,000 Emus , and being shot at the Emus scattered in all directions so the Emus won but they did loose a few of their mates .

I remember when I was in Coast Guard basic training (US), the driver of a bus of new recruits backed into a sign while parking. All us old new reruits were watching and laughing from our barracks as the CCs came running and yelling, "Stop, stop!"

The wood boards can actually serve a purpose with helps a lot against heatfs or heat weapons which can cause the round to go off early and do minimal damage

To be fair to Caligula, a lot of nations of that Era participated in "slander records." It wasn't uncommon for the next leader to claim the successes of their predecessor for themselves. Egypt's Pharoahs were particularly notorious for that; literally having guys chisel the names off of walls and monuments, and replacing them with their own.

Actually, the wood helps a lot against RPGs. RPGs work by concentrating the blast to 1 small point, making them really strong. But the same as laster cutters, the farther it gets from the main target, the less effective it is because the light or in the case of RPGs spreads from that 1 focused point. The difference is day and night by just adding those pieces of wood.

As a Filipino the one is 20:00 is well ill informed, the rockets used against the tanks are 2 stage detonations. 1 to launch, and when it impact it detonates using a trigger at the front. Which launches the front part even further to pierce heavy armor of tank... Which is why it was actually embarrassing for the ones with the rpg, since just by adding wood... It practically countered those rpgs which eventually let us win the small war. (As detonating the 2nd trigger early, causes the explosion to be on the outside and minimize the chance of the tip of the round to fully penetrate the armor and incapacitate the tank/crew inside it)

But one day out on patrol, we walk by a water hole, and one of them is lying on its head, where it had slid into the waterhole from the mud road. It took them 6 hours to get it out.
