According to Oxford English dictionary: BONER noun 1. N. Amer. informal: a stupid mistake 2. N. Amer. vulgar slang: an erection of the penis 3. NZ a low-grade farm animal... Regarding collocations, boner is usually preceded by pull (pull a boner), meaning making a mistake. I think that because of the second, vulgar meaning, the first one may be "left aside" nowadays, you know, just in case.... :-D Thank you for the lesson, some of these words are new to me too. I have looked it up in the dictionary and many of them are considered to be used mainly in the US.

"I will fire you if you make another boo boo." - This would never, ever be said in a professional setting. Perhaps it if it was said in jest, but... "I really bonered that date." - Is this British? I've never heard of it, and my mind jumps to the sexual meaning of the term. I get the meaning from the context, but I would NEVER think of using that word as a native due to other uses.
