About the batter not wearing helmet, it is common for batters to not wear helmet when facing spin bowlers. Spin bowlers usually bowl at ~45 to 55 mph so it's easier to move the head away or block it with the wrist.

Same in England and they are irresistibly drawn to cricket grounds. A few years ago, whilst we were having our traditional English cricket tea at my village ground on a lovely summer day, a gull swooped down and grabbed one of the bails. Another gull tried to get it off him, but gave up and came back, took the remaining one and flew off with that in the direction of the coast. You couldn't make it up!

When i was playing cricket once and batting , I misudged a ball that was being bowled at me ( due to the ball swing late off the pitch) I had copped one in the groin region . As I was wearing a protective groin guard and didn't get injured and felt fine i just adjusted the guard without checking it and i carried on batting until I got runout by my batting partner's foolish call of "1" which means we can get the one run because he could see the ball and I could not,. Just as i took off to run down the pitch i saw him stop and yell the dreaded words batsman don't want to hear "NO"...."Sorry Bro" !!! but it was too late to turn around to get back to the batting crease and subsequently i was run out. When i went off the field and started taking off my gear, i took the groin guard off and when i had pulled it out the guard was literally split down the middle in two pieces. All my coach could say when i told him was " So do you think we should just stick with that Brand of groin guard ??? to which i replied....well i don't sound like a chipmunk....😆😆😆

It’s actually so funny when it hits someone in the goolies but when it hits you it’s like the worst thing ever. I got hit in the goolies like 7,8 times in my 19 yrs of playing cricket

There is guard to protect the batsmen from getting injured.You can imagine where they put guard.So don't worry when they get hit below their belly and between thighs.
Don't know if you've ever been hit there with the provided protection, it still hurts like hell. I wouldn't like to feel the pain being hit there without a guard though. 😬
