But Cullinan had a lot of time to think about his responses...Warnie put him back on the benches so many times it became a joke...affectionately known as Warne's Bunny.
Sledging doesnt always result in revenge mostly it results in falling of wickets of those who get sledged because they lose their concentration and give up their wickets
Not forgetting that sledging was adopted as a tactic in cricket after many good Aussie cricketers played a high standard of baseball. Niggling the opposition in baseball is a gold medal sport. Previous to that any carry on in cricket was something you'd share with a beer after the game. Doctor Grace was reportedly very famous for his dittties.
In the videos you have watched you have seen the reaction because that is what makes it funny or ironic. But sledging is the same as trash talking. It is just the act of trying to annoy someone enough to get them to loose concentration.
@@yash124 they aren't afraid champ its all because of the sandpaper incident. CA have put the Australian players on notice about sledging. Anyone who follows cricket knows that.
Steven smith shuffles his legs a lot for each ball that he faces. Ends up looking funny. Ishant seems irritated and starts to mock him to get him out. Virat is in splits :D
Freddie Flintoff: "Mind them windows, Tino." Meaning: try not smash the pavilion windows when you hit your massive six, Tino. Tino Best then completely misses the next ball and gets stumped ugly. The entire cricket loving audience of England shares Flintoff's shoulder-shaking amusement. The perfect sledge.
I'd take that sledge from Gilly to heart, because he never waited for the umpire to declare him out. If he nicked it, he walked... now thats integrity for you.
Gilly should have educated the rest of his team mates to do like wise, bit hypocritical when Gilly is having a go at Kaif and his team mates like Ponting and Clarke do not walk knowing they have hit the ball, add Symonds to the list!
Best sledging ever was Shane Warne to Daryl Cullinan, especially Warne's reference to Cullinan's sports psychologist. You should watch Warne's interview with Michael Parkinson where he describes this - it's absolutely hilarious!
How was Miandad vs Lillee not included by the maker of this compilation, It easily sits on #1 and is one of the historic cricket fights. A 10 Minute version is on Robelinda's channel if you guys ever wanna react to it.
Yeah sledging is just chirp largely although it can get out of hand. A couple of legend sledges that I've heard about.... Australia's Ian Healy to South Africa's Kosie Venter (who was a sizeable bloke) that was playing very defensively and not venturing out of his crease against Shane Warne. "Hey Warnie! Put a Mars bar on a good length, that'll get him out of his crease." And my favourite is Glamorgan's Greg Thomas against the West Indies master, Viv Richards playing for Somerset in English county cricket after Viv played and missed at several balls in the over. "Hey Viv, it's red and weights five ounces. Now try playing it." The best thing was Viv's response of hitting the next ball out of the ground for six and to which Viv replied... "You know what it looks like, now you go find it."
Sledging is not about revenge or a fight all the time. It is about, like you said, getting under the skin of the other person. They would say things so that may get the other side furious so as to unsettle them and not to let them get away with the game. Which eventually would result in frustrated moments and loading the game. It's all part of the team game. Australian team has been famous for their sledging tactics, which is also really beautiful. The one with the Indian bowler. H is s name is Ishant Sharma. It happened during a test that took place in India Summer 2-4 years ago. Whenever he bowls he makes awkward faces. It's not intentional it just happens. Smith till that too tease him. That was not actually sledging... The best piece of sledging in this video was the first one. That once was really beautiful. Also the one with 'Come On Fidy' that was between Flintoff and Bravo. And fortunately Bravo is still around 😅
Merv Hughes: "If I bowled you a piano, could you play that?" Or who can forget Healy (Aus) and Ranatunga (SL). Ranatunga has a habit of walking singles in One Day games, and at times would cop some sort of injury and ask for a runner. As a runner is requested, Healy from behind the stumps: "You don't get a runner for being a fat ****" Or Lillee (used it mroe than once to different batsmen): "Oi, you got some sh!t on the end of your bat" The batsmen invariably lifts their bat to have a look.... "Wrong end, mate"
Healy revving up Ranatunga was the best. Healy later claimed he called him "unfit" but I know what I heard in the stump mic that night and I'm still laughing.
With the Steve smith and Ishant sharma thing, they were pulling faces because steve smith technique is very weird so he made faces. And with steve smith charging at ishant sharma that is just how steve smith leaves the ball.
Steve Smith always makes elaborate gestures when he leaves the ball. And now another Australian batsman, Marnus Labuschagne, is doing the same sort of thing. Smith, along with Virat Kohli of India, are probably the best two batsmen in the world, but Labuschagne has roared up the charts in his two years of test cricket. His parents brought him to Queensland from South Africa when he was 10. Merv Hughes, from the 80s and early 90s, was a notorious sledger...a larger-than-life character who still gives food value on Twitter. That moustache is still in fine fettle, albeit greyer.
Sledging is simply provocative banter (some cross the line, some don't) 6:30 This was funny & reminded me of Wahab Bowling against Watson (I think), would've posted a link to a video but couldn't find one.
Sledging is the same as Trash Talk. It serves the same purpose to throw the sledgee off their game - it quite often backfires. No different to trash talk. Steve Smith has eccentric movements when he bats, the bowler was just mimicking him to try and make fun of him.
My favourite: Glamorgan fast bowler Greg Thomas to the "Master Blaster" Viv Richards; " Hey Viv, It's, It's red, it's round and it's fast. Now try playing it." Sublime response: Viv hit his next ball out of the ground at Taunton in England and told the bowler in his broadest Antiguan accent "You know what it looks like Man. Now go find it."
@@Hivernal miandad vs Lillie 😂😂😂 miandad got his little butt kicked by Lillie... It was a stupid act by Lillie though, very disrespectful but Miandad comeback 😁😁😁was Savage
Most of these one to one rivalries develop over long test series. Imagine playing against each other in a 5 match test series, that is more than 150 hours of play people within a month or so. It is bound to create situations to get on the nerves of players of either side. That's why tests are the ultimate form of cricket, really testing both the physical and mental endurance of players.
There is the apocryphal sledge between bowler and batsman, the bowler fizzed one past the ear of the batsman and said "it's round and red, if your looking for it", the next ball, the batsman hits the ball out of the ground and says to the bowler "it's red and round, if you want to go look for it"
The 2nd one that guy kept making faces and all this because Steve Smith is a person who can't stop moving he's always moving something and he's always making these faces while doing them as well
The big guy with the big moustache is Merv Hughes - arguably the best sledger of all time. Loved a bit of a chat to the batsmen. His best ? After being smashed for consecutive fours by Graham Gooch, Merv bowled and Gooch left it alone. Running down the pitch, Merv let’s rip a huge, loud fart. “Try and hit that one for 4, Goochie !”
RonnyDonny13 That Australian team began 20 years of Australia dominating the sport. Taylor, Marsh, Boon, Waugh, Jones, Border, Healy, Matthews, Hughes, Reid, Alderman. Then Warne, McGrath, Slater and Ponting came in and they were completely invincible.
Jeez, I hope this time my comment gets seen. But you really should do a reaction to South Africa vs Australia where SA chased down Australia’s mammoth score of 434.. and yeah, that was an ODI. Simply outrageous. You and Gabe must do a reaction to that. That match is deserving of a reaction Thanks.. hope to see that soon
I think if the original video had subtitles it would have been much more helpful for you to get context. Us purist cricket fans who follow the entire test series know the context and background behind it all. Thanks for the great video though!
I cant remember who was involved but the best cricket sledge I've heard is: Bowler says to batter "there's a piece of shit on the end of your bat" *batter looks a tip of his bat* "Nah, it's on the other end"
I haven't seen one but I have read somewhere... but it's most insane till date .. it's in ashes in 80s .. Ian Botham had just walked to crease and Rodney Marsh is welcoming him by saying - how are my too little kids and ur lovely wife...😄😄 Botham got completely disturbed and got out very cheaply ... My personal best was Ganguly hurling his Tshirt at lords after winning NatWest 2002 final against England.. after Freddy had done so earlier in ODIs in 2001
Just to clarify, sledging is only the term for the trash talking, the revenge is just a bonus. Unfortunately with most of these (and any sledging video) you kind of lose the magic as you can't hear what they're saying for the most part.
Sledging is just trash talk mostly humourous to get under the opposition's skin so that they may lose concentration and commit a mistake in the game. Players usually don't get personal but there have been some cases when they cross the line and get abusive. It also depends on the opponent or the person who's been sledged that he should take it sportingly if done within the limits. One of the most famous sledging incidents is the MonkeyGate in Sydney 2008 between Andrew Symonds of Australia and Harbhajan of India. Also check out Amer Sohail vs Prasad in quarter final match of the 1996 Worldcup between India and Pakistan.
Harbhajan was banned for two matches to show his finger to Ponting to go to the dressing room. Ponting was let go even after making physical contact with Harbhajan which is against the laws of the ICC rules. That's ICC for you.
Apparently a young bowler (I originally heard Merv Hughes, but more recently discovered it was an barely heard of Englishman) to Viv Richards after a swing an a miss "See this little red thing? It's called the ball, and you're supposed to hit it" Next ball goes over the fence for a 6, and Viv: "You know what it looks like, go find the F#^%ing thing"
Sledging is just talking trash to get into the mind of the opponent. It can be verbal comments or looks but as long as it does not get personal and have too much offensive language. A lot of the time the batsman won't respond or it will show the bowler/fielders that they have got to them and distracted them for their game. "Mind the windows Tino." Was the best.
In that steve smith incident, ishant sharma(bowler) got frustrated by smith as he was not getting out in that series and was scoring loads of runs.. Smith is very fidgety while batting he moves alot in his stance and makes some weird faces so the bowler was immitating him... You will get to know more about smiths fidgety stance in the upcoming eng vs aus t20 and odi series starting this friday!!
test cricket is full of sledging England, Aussies were too aggressive back then but presently india and aussies are somewhat aggressive. odi and t20 is more trending nowdays.
Sledging is mostly stupid inane chirp. Sometimes it is hilariously funny. It’s rare for seasoned pros to be affected by sledging. In fact, some players ‘fed’ off being sledged - Steve Waugh being the premium example, whilst others were known to ‘lose it’ if sledged well - Glenn McGrath and Michael Slater fell into this category. As long as it doesn’t get too personal (race, religion, family) - sledging is fine. Incidents like “Monkeygate” are not.
Sledging in cricket is the same as sledging in other sport. It’s just chirping. In Baseketball “I heard your mom had sex with Squeak!” - that’s a sledge.
Please react to t20 world cup final between westindes vs england... It is a emotional match... Full of emotion... Carlos Braithwaite smashing 4 sixes in one over of Ben stocks
Sledging is not what you understand....sledging is just the first part where you get under someone's skin by commenting on them, that's it. Now the purpose is to make opposition player angry and get them to make a rash reaction, mostly done to batsmen to break their concentration...it's a double edged sword sometimes batsmen get out ant sometimes they can hit you for 4s and 6s
Why you uploaded 2005 ashes on Boring reviews? Re-upload it on this channel; just cut BR intro and add CFA intro.. Because traffic on this channel is different than BR
Hi Bro the first Sledging. You should a rechercth On Kumar Sangakkara. We Sri Lankan never use filty words to intimidate other nationions . Respected words but really heat the Opition. Once I have learned South Affricans so badly sledging Sri Lankan team. But when the Sri Lankan gave it back to them, they didnt wont to come to batting. Best Captians of Sri Lanka, Arjuna Ranathunga, Mahela Jayawardena Kumar Sangakkara resarch them .
