in the last month I've gotten two like-new furbs that, after cleaning their battery compartments and in one instance getting a replacement battery lid, definitely work and respond to voice but aren't moving. it's so disappointing! I guess I'm working up the courage to disassemble them like you to see if I can get at least one moving again. great tutorial, btw--what exactly did you do to get it going again, just wiggle the bands you pointed out at the end?
Yeah so I just move the rubber band a little bit until it snaps back into place and that's worked for me 3 times so far. And disassembling them is definitely daunting at first, especially since the 2005's plastic is so brittle by this point, but generally it's pretty easy once you get used to it. I was really nervous taking them apart the first few times I did it, but once you do it a few times you get more confident in doing it. I end up breaking the plastic tabs and the feet screw posts usually more than anything else lol. And then I just hot glue the areas that won't stay anymore when that happens. I've hotglued many a feet back on lol
My new Fiesta 2005 has movement issues too, I've been looking everywhere but I can't find anyone explaining how to make the beak open and close again. It also can't dance. Do you know any way to fix that?
The dancing would be controlled by the bottom motor, and the only fix I know of is if the rubber band is off the motor you can just move the rubber band back onto the track. Otherwise I'm not sure, and I haven't messed with the beak as much so I'm not sure how to fix that.
The feet are on the bottom motor so if you try the rubber band trick on the other motor, not the top one, that might work, if that's not the issue though then I'm not sure.
