Furfrou: Left Behind and Finally Redeemed

It was criminal to not mention Furfrou's incredible shiny. Black shiny pokemon are already beloved in their own right, but it's basically a black poodle coat and its trims look even better with it!

3:55 Pause. You say there isn't much else to Furfrou in GO when it's actually WAY more complicated and frustrating than that. While the base form isn't all that complicated, the trims are. GO is the first time the Furfrou trims can be deposited to HOME (and since Z-A isn't out yet, we don't know if this will be the case there) and many of the trims are regional exclusive: Matron and Dandy are not exclusive Deputante is exclusive to the Americas Diamond is exclusive to Eurasia Star is exclusive to East Asia and the Pacific Heart is exclusive to Valentine's Day events Kabuki is exclusive to Japan ONLY La Reine is exclusive to France ONLY (and I'm pretty sure it's just Metropolitan France) Pharaoh is exclusive to Egypt ONLY The latter three (really the latter one) is a massive issue for people with a living dex with all forms, as either you have to travel to these countries yourself, know someone from those countries, or rely on the GTS to get these. While going to or knowing someone from Japan or France who plays GO isn't all that bad all things considered, who the heck in Egypt of all places plays Pokemon GO? Egypt isn't exactly a safer place to be in than Japan or France. Meanwhile, the GTS between Furfrou's GO release and Legends: Arceus is filled to the brim with requests for La Reine and Pharaoh Furfrou, to the point of those forms being used to show off shinies while still technically being possible trade requests. Now that's Enamorus, but La Reine and Pharaoh Trims do still show up.

Imagine if the different styles of Furfrou changed its type or added a type onto it. Like Normal/Fire or Normal/Electric.

It's hilairous that the first Ultra Recon Squad battle with the Furfrou was way more difficult than fighting Poipole the Ultra Beast. Plus that Furfrou double battle outside of Parfum Palace in X and Y was traumatising. They have shockingly high defence in the early game

I honestly really love Furfrou. It one of my favorite Kalos Pokemon. It's sad how underrated it was, but I am happy we'll be having Furfrou back! And I hope we also get some new trim styles along with the older ones! I just really love Furfrou.

I used to think Furfrou was a llama in a Pokemon X&Y trailer before it was revealed My favorite style is the star trim

This pup is fun but I do wish it had a signature move where the move type was based on the style. It may not be very viable in competitive because your opponent knows what type move you have but in a play through of the story it would be fun.

Furfrou is actually one of my favorite Pokémon of all time. It was my Partner Pokémon in Kalos, to the point I LITERALLY went back to the starter town with just Furfrou on my team so I could play with it from the beginning.

Ah yes, my first ever Poke Radar shiny. I immediately gave it the debutante trim and Furfou's been one of, if not my favorite shiny Pokemon since then. Also, fun fact: Furfrou's name is a combination of the words fur (obviously) and froufrou (the noise made by someone walking in a dress).

I actually really like Furfrou. I used one on my team in USUM. But there's one problem: I actually don't really like any of the coat patterns. I just like normal, bland, regular Furfrou. I just like its scruffy fur, I think it's a fun look.

It's probably my favorite Kalos Pokémon, despite its simple design. I first started training one on my copy of X version during a very special vacation trip to Valdés, Spain. I made a music playlist on my phone featuring the Dalmatians from the Disney film, and Furfrou (I gave him his Japanese name back, ''Trimmien'') was featured, with Parfum Palace's music being a part of the playlist. What's an even more funny coincidence, is the fact that a couple months later, I visited a café in Lumiose City and discovered an NPC who claimed that ''he kisses every one of his 101 Furfrou good-bye''. That's such a nice coincidence!

Because of Furfrou 's whole style thing, I spent ages trying to shiny farm it, the first Pokémon I ever specifically shiny hunted. Took over 800 Furfrou to get my first shiny, all black furred and pretty. Thought it would be cool seeing all the shiny styles. And now that shiny has been languishing in Home for ages. Maybe I'll finally be able to free it when ZA comes out.

Related to the topic, Blitzle and Zebstrika also had the same case until Indigo Disk. The only time it was available on regional dex was the generation they debuted in which is Gen 5. After that, they're strictly a post game expansion.

That reminds me, I got to see if people are offering anything good for them before Legends ZA comes out.

Furfrou also appeared in the sun and moon anime in the episode were kartana appeared.

Loved Furfrou, used it on my team when me and my buddies were doing runs of X and Y where we tried to keep pace with each other and we battled regularly. If give it a different trim every time I won. Good fun

The way pokemon home users want to trade shiny legendaries for this Pokémon having it be either in its regular form or in a specific form. Now they won’t be able to do that anymore with the return of Kalos.

Forfrou is such a beast in USUM and you get it so soon! The gimmick tho... You need to go too much out of your way to properly use it really. They make it hard on the player, I guess since it is supposed to be a luxury. Hence clearly the best forme is the default one 😂

Just gotta say that furfrou came CLUTCH in my first nuzlocke. the ability combined with cotton guard made it a speedy tank for my team and got me through most of the late game fights. Yes it’s movepool and such are lacking but damn i still love my doggo 💕

You forgot to mention in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Furfrou is the Pokémon first used by the Ultra Recon Squad in their battles against the player before replacing it with Poipole.

Not giving it a second typing depending on the style was a missed opportunity

It went to Pokémon GO. That's why. That Pokémon is very common in that game and the trims are all regionals and hard to get! 🐩

I wish there's at least a move based on the form, like how Rotom forms get an extra move they normally can't.

I might get that new Pokémon game coming in December just to grind it so I get good at the old/new meta game coming out. Me personally I mostly forgot about Furfrou maybe it will be an obstacle to beat but for now we shall see.

I've only ever played through the Kalos region once, back when I played Y, amd I didn't use a furfrou in that playthrough, but I've always wanted to use one ever since. Its default design is so cute. The fur coat ability sounds so cool too. I wish stoutland got it!

Just finished my Furfrou collection on home, ready to go to Z-A if it doesn't get rid of their styles, else i guess they'll just be trophies for exchange in case i need a very specific pokemon that may or may not be worth the hassle of catching it to have a Furfrou form (people who want their exchabged mons to be a specific language and level will understand)

Furgrou is my fave from XY gen. It was the MVP of my team and I prefer the vanilla look as someone who never cared about my own haircut

I caught a furfrou in X but I was deep in the game by that point so grinding exp was a drag, Iwas surprised it doesn't have a signature moves or abilities but I guess that makes sense since grooming a poodle is mostly aesthetic.

This is the first time I see the other forms! I didn't know that was is gimmik! I always liked the default and still do, because of the cool fur ears and body that it get's as well as the spiky mohawk that it has going on! Kabuki trim tho is my favourite otherwise!

Imagine if Fur Coat affected the Defense Stats instead of reducing Physical Damage taken, wouldn't have been as good in the past but then would've made Body Press put in some work nowadays.

Everyone was so hyped about Skiddo and Gogoat appearing in Gen 9… but they forgot that Litleo and Pyroar were gone for the same amount of time. Also. Furfrou is so cool! How could GameFreak not add it earlier? It would’ve fit perfectly in SWSH! Justice for this doggo 😤

My favourite furfrou is the arceus and alolan ninetales trim. I will be very disappointed if legenda z-a does not make these trims available

I remember playing Ultra Moon after beating the game and finding a Shiny Furfrou and Shiny Granbull. On the same day and same route. Can't wait for Z-A so I can reunite with it.

I had one in xy but even though the ability is nice defensively it had no way to deal proper damage and was my weakest member on the team lol

Furfrou is a fun little dog. Got 3 other Pokémon in the "Home Locked" on switch camp that I always see forgotten (Spinda less so). Alolan Rattata, Raticate and Spinda. You can get them on Switch games, but old generation transfers are stuck in Home all the same. I want to free them from the Home boxes! Could easily see Alolan Rattata/Raticate not being in ZA... Hope they all make it.

I imagine it wasn't included in Gen 8 and Scarlet and Violet because it needed a whole building (a grooming station) for its gimmick to really work, and neither Sword and Shield or Scarlet and Violet were going to do that for a single Pokemon.

If there are any Pokémon that I feel are the most forgotten it’s Glameow and Purugly. Think about it like this, you could only get them in Pokémon Pearl, but then never again. Well they could show up on the Pokédex if you transferred, that was the national Dex.I’m fact the first game in FOREVER!!! That they could be found in the wild was Pokémon Legends Arceus. Which was 15 years later!

Furfrou is so underrated it's hurt and it's thanks to Pokemon go that it's memorable for ruin the GTS trading in the pokemon home app, Well at least it's isn't forgettable.😮‍💨 Still I can't wait to see Furfrou again in Z-A especially hunting for it's amazing shiny in the wild to see it black color forms again!✨🐩

I initially thought Furfrou was a unique concept because the Pokédex said it would become more swift when it got a haircut, and naturally, I thought that ment it would become stronger when if I gave it a hair cut, needless to say, I was a bit disappointed that it didn't become stronger when I gave it haircuts. But that didn't didn't stop me from liking it afterwards, I just didn't use it on my Kalos team. The Grooming Furfrou episode was actually one of the first Pokémon episodes I watched in Japanese since, at the time, Pokémon XY wasn't released in the US yet, and being a big watcher of the Dub since Gen 4, I wasn't entirely sure if I would like the original Japanese voices for Ash and Team Rocket. And good thing I was wrong because the Japanese cast is very talented. I'm surprised you didn't talk about how it was actually revealed much earlier in September 2013 during a Pokémon Direct showing off Mega Evolution, I remember it being a big deal and every one try to guess what the Pokémon could be, with a Griffin Pokémon being a pretty popular opinion on what it could be. I think maybe a week later, they revealed it was Furfrou, but I'm not quite sure. Can't wait for this Pokémon's return in Legends Z-A!!! It was about time!!!

what made me sad is that the forms are temporary. would of been so cool to have all 10 forms in my PC and transferred between games.

I'm still baffled Game Freak chose NOT to include the last few Pokemon in the Kitakami/Blueberry Dex. We only need five, and their evolutions, so nine. Furfrou, Patrat and the three elemental Monkies. Come on Game Freak was it too much to add these last ones? They are so far the only Pokemon never to have been available on the Switch.

Tbh i wish it was still gone. Every pokemon fan has that one pokemon that they absolutely despise...and for me its this bad excuse of a poodle. I'm a huge fan of the dog pokemon! But this pokemon fails hard. It feels like an unfinished middle stage mon for a good three stage! But instead we get this...thing with bad stats, no pre and no evolution, poor design, and useless "gimmick" heck it's not even a gimmick! A gimmick does SOMETHING! cosplay Pikachu does a better job than this mutt! Gets costumes and a new move! What does furfrous haircuts do for it? What's that? Nothing? Wtf. It COULD have made each haircut give it a secondary type or a different move or ability...but no. And whats worse is after you buy the haircut and put the mutt in a box? The haircut is RESET! also we already have a normal type doggo! The lilipup line! That line is so much better than "edgy" mop mutt over here. If it had a toy poodle pre-evo and an evolution that made it look actually fancy then I'd understand why people like the line but it just sucks. Like really, REALLY sucks. This is genuinely the only pokemon that I absolutely DESPISE with a burning passion.

I wanted Unova. Don't care for Kalos. Mega evolutions are the worst gimmick.
