Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Review 

People are talking exclusively and ONLY about f*** CGI in a movie with such an inspired filmmaking, absolutely impeccable production design, costumes, sound design, outstanding action sequences, vibrant characters etc... We are living in really sad times for a film and all true cinemagoers and cinefilés 😢

I liked it better than fury road

Fun fact: Junkie XL was not only the composer, but also mixed the entire film along with Robert Mackenzie. Don’t think there’s ever been blockbuster where composer is also one of the overall audio mixers! Which would explain why it sounds so beautiful.

Road had cgi but it was intergraded so well...for the life of me i dont get why they made the cgi so in your face in this one. At times its almost sifi channel levels

Happy Memorial Day 🇺🇸 Saw the movie today with my sister and her bf Lots of things in here centering around love, what the side effects are of fighting for it, taking on the world in order to get home, how a wasteland can create a hero Miller and the creators once again bring a large scale to this apocalyptic world with giant sets, modified vehicles, customized weapons, elaborate costumes, convincing makeup effects, and a dirt filled aesthetic The film itself is definitely worth the wait It's quite long (probably could've been trimmed down and sped up its pacing) along with some odd editing choices and I didn't know it would be broken up into chapters although it is told like an odyssey It takes quite a while too for Anya Taylor-Joy to show up as a young Furiosa but she conveys a lot of expression through her eyes with visual storytelling And director George Miller wonderfully expands this Australian wasteland I also appreciated how they forge her character and leading right into the events of ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ right down to using familiar music cues Hemsworth makes for an entertaining warlord villain too The vehicle chases and custom war machines continue to be inventive The characters get crazier even when certain things stop making sense altogether then again this is a mad world for all involved ‘Fury Road’ was much more exciting but this is a nice side story to expand on the world Miller created 45 years ago

watched it today and really enjoyed it

1981s road warrior is my fav film.

The massive cultural impact that was the Road Warrior was felt throughout Hollywood. “Post Apocalyptic” became a thing BECAUSE of the Road Warrior and it seemed everything after that had a “post apocalyptic” feel, including Tom Petty music videos.

Saw it tonight, amazing film.

I get SOME CGI but c’mon guys. Mad Max was built on practical effects.

This movie is most likely going to be amazing. The CGI just looks too cartoonish for me. I don’t know if I’m in the mood to spend almost $30 to see a cartoon in IMAX. I really wish it looked grittier. Might seem like a silly reason not to go see a movie, but it’s a real concern to want to save money right now. There’s something about the way this movie looks that doesn’t sit well with me.

I grew up on the first three movies in the 80s. Great thing about them was how lean and bleak the production was. I can't stand the oversaturation of Fury Road, among other things, and knowing this thing has had the same with (even more) CGI turns me off.

Why is this masterpiece being attacked for fopey cgi and other things like length. Like every movie these days. Ignore petty critics. The film is amazing. Everything about it is crafted with skill. Real first class storytelling. Fans of action movies and epic stories will be awed.

yeah some of the effects were janky.

Some CGI takes U out of it the movie. first 20mins drag on with real twisted symbolism just in ur face almost walked out. then too many time skips, idk if furry used her mothers teachings and idk if old mate found the abundant land and killed the people during the time skips. The movie actually gets good when they find the war Boi and the two kings meet each other and this is where I'd start to rewrite some of the story but anyway we needed more bike engine chants that got me hyped up man. Some let downs that could be edited a bit better but other than that the rest is very solid. Then it goes into too many eras of her life starting feeling like it was dragging on again I really thought there was going to be this death race that takes place for order to be restored and end in a Colosseum like fashion

For me the soundtrack for this film was simply awful. While I wasn’t expecting it to be like fury road it took a terrible direction junkie hasn’t done anything good since mortal engines

It was very entertaining. a few of the special effcts shots were a bit funky. otherwise good fun movie. Hope it is not too long a wait for the next one.

Everyone complaining about CGI, it is.not a bad thing to have CGI The execution is great and I still think it is a wonderful movie. Y'all are missing out thinking this is a CGI crapfest

If anyone wants more Furiosa action I just dropped a new Furiosa 'supercut' video with scenes from Fury Road. Check it out if you want. If this new Furiosa movie is good I might make one for it as well.

Mad Max 1979 had a budget of $400,000 with a duration 1 hour 33 minutes but Mad Max 5 Furiosa has ended in 2024, with a budget of $168M with duration 2 hours 28 minutes Before the main character was a man, a young Mel Gibson, now the role-leaders are women Charlize Theron in Mad Max 4 in 2015 and Anya Taylor-Joy in Mad Max 5 in 2024

The original four movies may have had a similar turn of events but they were in different settings with different villains. This film from the outside looks like it has too many repeats of locations and types of characters from Fury Road but with more CGI cartoonyness. That's why people are more hung up on it seeming like a repeat of what we've already seen.

The people that were not fond of this movie were not looking for a retelling of the last movie that's the same dumb argument phantom menace fans said. granted, this film was waa far superior over that prequel.

There are two reasons I will wait to see this when it is cheaper: It's a CGI animated film with live actors in a cartoon, and more importantly, where is Max? As much as I enjoyed Fury Road, my sole complaint was that there wasn't enough Max in a Mad Max film.

I was really looking forward to Furiosa until I seen that bug-eyed actress was doing her. I cannot stand her. She is just so good at playing a conniving, evil woman that I can't like her.

The movie is not good. I say this as someone who was excited and rooting for a good time without expecting anything. Make up your own mind about it but I tried so hard to salvage what I could. I hate 90ish percent of it, the final confrontation/ending minutes barely save it and I like those, but it's a miserable boring thing that I wanted to end two hours before it did.

I think the awful looking green screen shots need to be talked about more, seriously.

Unbelievable movie. Best I've seen in years. All the "boo hoo CGI" and "ah a woman = woke" moaning is embarrassing. This is peak fucking cinematic insanity, if you're not interested in this then just shut up out of respect for the master. Jees! What do you want?

What a vapid framework for action

Ya know why I respect Steel Frontier, even with all it's faults? It stood on it's own, clearly taking place in the Mad Max universe but not tying themselves to the franchise is a cheap attempt to monetize the Mad Max Fanbase. Just wait for this to come to Streaming, or the High Seas, no reason to give money to this.

It's hard not to compare it with Fury Road - the story and characters are new but the action stuff -not that it's still mind-blowing- is familiar (bikes being crushed.... bad guys chasing the war rig). And it's too long... the end bit when Furiosa has her man and kill him....should have just killed him. Because he was able to film in Australia Miller got more dimension to the landscapes. Also it's pronounced Lockie, not Lacy

CGI flet like cheap 90's video game cut scenes...

It would be nice to get a Mad Max story since we haven’t had one in over 30 years. Fury road sucked and I’m sure this will too, but at least no bait and switch like fury road.
