This may be more of a DPG but you mentioned that the Woox chassis could accommodate a 1.250" barrel, Woox says they can only free float a 1.20" barrel. Did DPG have to modify the chassis?
I like the smooth sides with no brand logo on it. It leaves it open to do some engraving as you did. Very nice looking chassis. Looking to get one very soon.
The action/barrel not being centered might have something to do with the Origin action. I've had my Origin (also setup for .223 AI ironically) in an MPA BA Comp, MDT ACC and a Manners T4A and in all of them, the barrel favors one side more than the other. I'd say try another action first before totally blaming the chassis. Other than that, thanks for the review. I've seen the Woox chassis and thought it was a nice combination of wood and metal but just never tickled my fancy too much. I do like the push button release for the cheek riser so I might give them a try.
youtube.com/@XRING I know this is a bit of an older video, but I was wondering if you could give me your feedback on how the Woox stock/chassis feels? They are marketed as a Chassis, but they seem more like a hybrid design similar to a Manners with Mini Chassis (which I really like). I know you have a lot of experience with a variety of different stocks and chassis. I would mainly like to know if the Woox feels a little more like a hybrid stock in terms of recoil feedback, shot resonance, etc, or if it will still feel like a giant tuning fork (like many chassis)?
I hope to see you do more with the 223 AI, the economy(price wise), availability, and range of the caliper make it a caliber I am really interested in.
Great review Ray! I'm in Hickory too and didn't know about this company. I gotta say it's one of the prettiest looking chassis I've seen. I love the wood and metal combination! Just a beautiful rifle!
Yes, I'd be SUPER picky about the barrel NOT being perfectly centered in the barrel channel. I'd try to ignore it, but I know my OCD will kick in and it will drive me nuts to find a solution. That, and the bag rider wood not matching the rest of the rifle.
Between Woox’s “Cobra” and “Furiosa” stocks, I can’t tell which one I want more!! Can’t wait to see them make both those types of stocks for poppular, older models that are still commonly used like rem 74xx and 76xx series’.
Whats your opinion the zermatt action. I havent played with as many actions as you have but love how smooth they are and i also prefer controlled round feed.
Great review. I am a fan of Woox. I couldn't help obsessing over you putting rounds through a new barrel without breaking it in. Maybe I missed something....
Barrel break in on a high quality precision barrel is completely unnecessary. Just shoot it, clean it, and then keep shooting it until the copper deposition/velocity climb stabilizes around 150-200rds in. Then just clean out carbon as necessary to maintain accuracy
i saw one of those a guy was walking around the shoot with an empty chassis on his buggy,, it looked awesome.. i love the wood,, so smooth and classic.. :D
