Try actually reading the scriptures where G_d gave the Torah and the 10 Commandments to Mosche and the Children/Nation of Israel on Mt. Sinai. In my opinion one should first gage whether the other person is willing to reconsider his beliefs before trying to convince him of anything. Jews believe that anyone who carries out the human commandments and doesn't do evil (or repents of any sins he already committed) will merit an afterlife. The specific requirements are codified in the oral law as the 7 Noahide Laws, but they are found in scripture as well. These laws include not worshiping idols, but don't include a specific requirement on what should be worshiped, if at all. Thus a Christian will be in trouble if he believes in the divinity of J, but a Muslim would not because Muslims believe in the one true Gd with no hint of idolatry. Atheists would also be okay with regards to this requirement. Of course, you also have to keep all the other requirements as well. French and American people might be in trouble for cooking frogs and lobsters while they're alive. Terrorists are in trouble for murder. However most people, if they're aware of the rules, should have no problem being square with Gd.

From an academic standpoint, no one really knows. Modern Hebrew has vowel markers (although they're mostly used for kids when they're first learning) but Ancient Hebrew does not, so the word was lost to time and we have no way of knowing how its pronounced. Religious Jews would never pronounce it anyway, that would be extreme blasphemy.
