I like the sofa where you originally had it. More privacy you may not want people in the other buildings always looking at you and you had space for a table 😊

The couch looks so much better. The view is definitely a winner. Low sofa table would look great behind the couch.

Use an automatic projector screen guys. That you can lower whenever you want to watch something.

Don’t go for minimum coverage for car insurance. You will want collision and comprehensive. Also, uninsured drivers are a big problem in the US, so make sure your insurance has uninsured driver coverage.

Only change I’d suggest you pull the sofa back toward to kitchen area about 2 ft. Appears too squished at the window area.

If you are able to swap the sofa sections around I would put the ottoman on the opposite side and move the sofa closest to the wall..still facing the view. I would then get a small round bistro style dining table and place that on that wall near the balcony door.

My uncle used to sell car insurance policies. He told me most people with cars above the coverage limits buy an umbrella insurance policy to cover anything above your car or renters or homeowner insurance limits. It’s actually pretty cheap to get a $1 million umbrella policy.

As far as what to put on your balcony I would just go shopping for outdoor furniture. You're in the best city to find the best to get some ideas. One thing to consider though during hurricane season you would probably need to bring that furniture indoors.

You both are the only RU-vidrs I could watch for hours without getting annoyed or bored. You two are so genuine 😊

You should arrange your furniture however you like it and in a way that works best for you, because, after all, it's you that is living there

I really like the apartment, as others said the couch might be too big for the room but I also love those couches so I would live with it. LOL. I would have left it the way it was, I live on the water and I look at my TV more than I do the water, you can turn your head to look at the water anytime. I would get a nice swivel boucle chair or two that faces the water and leave the couch facing the wall. With regards to insurance I would just talk to your friends from the UK that live here and just get their advice and use who they use. Being downtown Miami I would say for a vehicle with excellent coverage you should probably be around $200 a month which would be double say if you lived somewhere in the Midwest. You should also get a discount if you pay it all upfront as opposed to month by month.

We have a separate million dollar liability insurance plan that covers lots of problems. We also have comprehensive ins plan on our vehicles. You need renters ins to cover your items in your apartment.

Everyone saying the sofa looks so much better facing the windows has no clue about interior design lol it was perfect where it was before. Divides the lateral space into living and dining area, faces a wall where you can put tv + unit, not to mention the good feng shui. Where it is now it’s quite silly, you walk in and see the back of a sofa, any sort of unit up against that nice window is a crime, and makes the space a lot smaller this way.

You need to get an umbrella policy for coverage of 1M plus this kicks in when the auto cover max out, your insurance agent should have suggested this.

I believe they make an easel type stand for TVs. And if it's on wheels even better so you can move it out of the way to not obstruct your view.

Yes where you have the sofa now is perfect, dining room table and chairs behind it, and get a automatic screen on the ceiling, so you can move it up and down and still be able to look at views when not in use. If theres not enough room for the table and chairs, get an island with a breakfast bar/table and chairs on the end, you can always return the table and chairs. xxx

if you finance a car, especially in Florida you need to get what is called Full Coverage insurance. The best insurance companies in Miami or in Florida are Geico, Progressive, State Farm, Nationwide

The location of the couch is much better and No need for a TV just get motorized blinds and with your projector a perfect blend. then get a compact round dining table, btw. Is the coffee maker fixed? LOL Yall like food, Geeeezzzzzz.

Insurance rates are also related to your credit score too - so once that builds your insurance rates will go down. Personally speaking, make sure you go for good coverage (definitely not minimum) & possibly add on some umbrella insurance too to protect your assets. Do insurance 6 months at a time then shop around again. Good luck!

You could put your dining table long ways in the kitchen and use it like you would a island

U can't beat the cosyness of a British home....great big rooms & giant sofas doesn't necessarily equate to style & class...& a cosy vibe..needs some warm tones & a POP of COLOUR so it looks less clinical. Great view though!!

You’ll find BIG DIFFERENCES! You do nothing if someone hits you that’s uninsured!! Which a lot of people are uninsured! Drive defensively!

the way it work for car insurance if you get a new car you have to get full coverage and that may cost you 1800 but you can pay that by the month the same way you pay your car note if you don't pay it in full.

I agree with Matt, that there needs to be some transition between the kitchen against one wall and the seating area. Many luxury condo kitchen layouts include a center island, which is a narrow marble-like table with bar stools for seating. One option would be to channel this concept by instead putting a rectangular table in this spot, and have bar stools for eating, and looking out at the view. Looks like also you will need some end tables/coffee table near the sectional, otherwise you have nothing to set food and drinks on if you are sitting on the sectional. Some artwork, a few tree plants and area rugs may also help define the living spaces more distinctly. Btw, you might consider a Costco membership. There is one in the area, and there is a lot of quality stuff there. Target has its limitations.

Push your sofa back towards your kitchen as you have it too close to your window. Just a tad back

Have a look at SixT long term rentals, it was the most cost effective options when I moved to Miami and had full cover. The other good option is getting a Tesla, they have their own insurance - Second hand prices have come down a lot and the insurance is well priced.

There is additional coverage on your policy you choose that it for uninsured/underinsurred. It's an add on. Optional in some states.

I’ve been in Florida for 34 years and whatever you do make sure you make sure you get uninsured motorist coverage if not, it’ll be your worst nightmare. Also, I would go for full coverage to make sure you’ve got all your bases covered because there are a lot of uninsured motorist in Florida unfortunately

i am not an insurance expert but being 58 years old i have dealt with it a lot. My husband and I like Esurance it is basically Allstate but cheaper because the agent is cut out. But there is still a phone number to call for questions. I am in Oregon now but i checked and you can get it in Florida. We did up the policy to cover accidents with expensive cars and definitely have uninsured motorists. I had a Corvette hit in a parking lot and they drove off. so it was great to have. Im not sure what common rates are in Florida but I don’t pay a thousand a month and we have two people and a 2023 BMW and 2023 Tacoma. So I would check around. Love the console table, model boat, and kitchen island ideas. For insurance, it’s vital to understand that Florida is a “no fault” state. Highly recommend you consult with the local Nationwide agent. I like Nationwide, but any professional agent can advise you.

Sofa was better the way you had it first. The room proportions work for dividing it in two for sitting & dining. Plus there is a wall for tv to go on.

Wow the insurance situation is crazy. If you look at your policy in the UK, i know mine covers me for up to 20 million pound third-party liability. $10,000, or even $250,000 i would feel very nervous about. Be good if you can keep us updated with how you get on with that. All the best guys

Considering a dining room table you have to think whether you want a round square or oblong. Some suggestions that were made is getting a high top bistro table or an island with stools.

Full Coverage is a must and Gap insurance is a must if you are getting a new car. Liability is basically for a used car that is paid off. Insurance here is also the area you live in and Miami is a huge factor. I live in Winter Haven FL close to Orlando, and I have a 2021 Kia Sportage and I have full coverage. I use Geico and I pay my 6 months in full cause it saves money to also pay in full for the 6 months. The type of car you get plays a roll in the cost of insurance and your area is a big factor. Car insurance here looks at where you live and that decides are you more at risk to get in an accident, Miami is very busy so I can imagine that affects your insurance down here big time. Getting a car with alot of smart features does help on the cost. Gap insurance is when you buy a car and if for any reason your car is totaled Gap insurance pays the rest of what your car insurance won't in the event of an accident where car is totaled. That's why I say it is only needed for newer cars if you will be financing a car for awhile. There are cheaper options than Geico but the deductibles are double than what I get at Geico. For living in Miami I would not get just the basic liabilty or cheapest option just cause of the risk or chance of Miami, but I know you two will make the best decision. Check into GAP insurance.

Have the lounge seat with its back facing against the wall as if when you come from the bedroom you will see it. Have the dining table next to the other end near door way so that it’s close for you to get to the BBQ when walking in or out the door. Hang a sliding screen from the ceiling whenever you need the screen just roll it down place it back up without needing it. Hope this helps.

You also got to look at the state. Each state is different. Some are at fault and some are not. Some states regardless of who is at fault, your own insurance covers your own damages. If you don’t have insurance, and you get hit in a no fault state, it doesn’t matter if the other person causes the accident because their insurance still won’t pay out to you because it is a NO fault. Insurance here is so expensive too. Wait till you have to deal with medical insurance.

I would just keep the sofa where it was. Practicality over looks for me. Projector number 1 priority. 😍😁👍

Hey Summer & Matt welcome to the USA ! We have lived in Washington DC for 7years! With regard to car insurance make sure you get maximum coverage it’s definitely not worth the risk!

Don't get the minimum for insurance, most company will try to sell on the low price of the base policy to prove their are better and their competitors but it leave you liable in case of accident. Shop around compare prices and plans and try to get the get full coverage for your needs.

The couch was better the way you guys had it. I know it's nice to look at the view but the way that room is built doesn't work with your sofa. Unless you want to buy a smaller one (don't do it, yours looks so cozy lol), put it back the way you had it. It'll be SOOO cramped if you add a dining table and console into the current set up. There should be 30-36" of walking space between furniture and it looks like you're at 12" now in some areas.

You should install a conveyer belt from the dining table to your couch, so the person at the dining table can put your food on the belt and it arrives at the couch, where you are lazing and taking in the view. Or, you could put a rotating stand beneath your couch, so you can watch tv facing one way and then just hit a switch and have the couch face the other way to view the projector screen.

Not sure if it’s doable. Some ceiling length light linen style curtains would soften the window beautifully.

The couch / sofa looks better there for the view. I would not be bothered with some huge TV because that view is much better than having a TV. The projector should work on the blinds on the window. But I reckon I would enjoy the view more. Maybe mess around with the couch till you get it where you want to. It’s always a good idea to look at your space in a room and look at what you want in it. I won’t tell you our story as this is about you both. Your story with us giving some tips. That view is awesome 🙌 sometimes you might want a little privacy though as some buildings are higher than you are. Get a nice set of binoculars for looking at the sea and further afield. I would personally. That sofa needs a large puff. That’s not the word I’m looking for but not resting feet on table rest on something soft and have cute table only small so you can put your food and drink on.

I am an insurance agent in NJ and I would not speak with anyone that says choose the minimum coverage. I would choose 250,000/500,000 and even some companies offer a 1,000,000 of coverage of liability. You can definitely also choose 100,000 through 300,000 of property coverage.

Always do full coverage incase you may need it later and regret not having it

Make sure you get a minimum of 100k for property damage (vehicle), take the Underinsured/Uninsured Motorist coverage for same amount minimum. Personal injury - get over the minimum. It’s possible that you might get in a major accident and total your vehicle which may be above your limits but the average fender bender should be within your limits. Yes, Ferrari’s near me scare me. Ask your agent to explain Umbrella policy which may cover over your underlying policy but you have to have a certain amount of coverage to qualify. These are just suggestions. State Farm is a good carrier along with Travelers. They may or may not insure in Florida. Due to hurricanes many providers no longer provide insurance there.

Your sofa is actually too large for the space---It works but limits your TV viewing and your dining situation---The sofa is gorgeous and knowing you two will make it work Your view is the show stopper so utilize that and enjoy !!!

You could never use the robe from The White Co in Miami no matter what time of year. You will be glad you got the “the tea towel.”

Well you forgot the projector.

I would leave it where you had it gives you ample space for the dining table. You don't want the sofa too close to the kitchen area or underfoot. Get an oval table gives more room around the table to eat. You can also get an elongated console like table for the kitchen something small enough to use or sit at if you wish for coffee or breakfast. Can also use it for buffet serving. A mid century over hang curved lamp for your living room and put the smaller lamp with the other one in your sleeping quarters. The view outside is better than from the window can always put seating outside. Your friends wouldn't know anyone who could help you with insurance etc..? advice would be better from someone who has a car who lives where you are.

Hi Guys Who wouldn’t want to take advantage of that view - I would just be watching all the millionaire boats go by - out of interest how many stories up are u to be at that height. Fairy lights along the balcony railing - would look cool and brighten up the balcony too. Just out of interest do u have a favourite view from the high hotels you have stayed in. When I stayed in the Merton Suites on the Gold Coast- had the most incredible sea views. Cheers Phil - xo

People with expensive cars have full coverage. So if you hit them they are covered automatically and their insurance will get the amount you are covered for from your policy and cover the rest, so if the damage is 50k and you have a 10k policy they will get the 10k from your policy and cover the rest. They wont go after you for the balance. If you have a 20 k car you would only need a minimum full coverage policy . That covers your car completely and the damage for the car you hit if you are at fault.

I'm glad yall are happy but honestly no. This is why you take comments with a grain of salt. The view is nice but the sofa position is not practical. How are you supposed to watch TV or movies now? Also, Matt is right, the view of the back of the couch when you walk in is just.. no. Pretty uninviting. But at the end of the day, if y'all are happy, that's what matters.
