You seem to truly enjoy and appreciate each other’s talents. Andrea has an easy laugh button and you keep her entertained. I LOVE your channel…it’s one of my favorites. ❤️👍
You guys inspired me to flip furniture ❤️ I’ve always done flips here and there but used to work full time. It’s been almost two years since I quit my job to stay home and homeschool my kiddos, we now had the blessing to get them into private school and my husband reminded me of how much I like to flip furniture and encourage me to do it as a side business since I now have the time, yes I have a good one like you !!!❤️ praise God for that 🙌🏻. So thank you for all your help and recommendations.
I love that you show the prep, sanding, cleaning and drying each piece. Each step is important & shouldn’t be rush or ignored.thanks so much for sharing with us!
They did turn out cute! Could be used as side tables to a couch or chair also. Age is just a number in my opinion. Since you asked I would say you both are in your late 30s. I'm not good at guessing ages, but figured you are both around my kids age. Thanks for showing us a bit of behind the scenes. It gives us more of your personalities. Two fun loving people!
Andrea needs a ‘party’ canopy/ tent to work under!! It would protect her from the sun & protect the furniture from the rain! Best of all it’s easy to take down and fold up when she’s done. Love your videos and looking forward to future posts.
You guys should do a home tour. The interior is stunning and would love to see more of it. Also, if you could, please share your kitchen cabinet color.
We're planning too! And I need to go try and find my kitchen cabinet color because I mixed 2 colors to get it and now I can't for the life of me remember one of them!
I love the colors. I would have thought that the paint was bad if I hadn’t seen you show how thick it is. I agree with the filing in the brain with her.
I’ve been binge watching your videos since I saw the first video of your credenza renovations! WOW, what’s difference in each of them, you truly have a gift for visualizing a finished product and bringing it to life! You are so talented and have such a fabulous work ethic, I am so impressed with your work and so glad I found DIY WIFE! Thank you for sharing your talent with us!!
Thank you for introducing me to Sherwin Williams paint. I have been using chalk paint to paint all my pieces , chalk paint is not always easy to work with
I watched like every video you´ve ever uploaded.. it´s so addictive! And this is one of my favourites! I love all of them but this one is so real and down to earth.. it´s just real life and I love the behind the scenes, you should do that more often! I love that you, Andrea, did not forget the "roots" where we all probably started, when we did our first makeover. Seeing you creating such a smooth finish and doing a perfect job with a brush inspired me and taught me that I can do anything, as long as I put hard work into it. Because you give me courage to make my dreams come true. it sounds cheesy but it´s true. You´ve been my biggest inspiration. Thank you.
You’ll great! It is amazing to me that you are able to go full time with your channel. I wish I could think of a way to start a channel and work from home. I am in the medical field and cannot seem to think of something I could do. But the way, I have never used that paint but may have to try it.
When you raise the dressers an night stands. I love all your projects!Just wanted to think about the name it "Risers". TAKE CARE AN KEEP UP THE GREAT PROJECTS Love coming your way, thanks Donnd in Florida
Go Aggies! This was a fun video. We can totally relate to y'all. We have 4 kids and when they're not with us, everything is super quiet and just feels odd. I would guess y'all were about 37/38 years young. Although not that you look it, just figured since she graduated college she probably didn't have kids until about 25 and then your oldest may be about 12ish. Seriously though y'all look about early 30's.
Just a tip that might help you with your bondo sanding. There's what's called a "green stage" to the bondo and that is the best time to knock down most of the high spots. It might not be as bad on smaller spots like the drawers as it would be on a panel of a car but it might help save a little bit of time! The "green stage" time depends on how much hardener you add. Like always, these turned out nice!
I really love the way you take so much care to refurbish these pieces. I always cringe when you paint things green because it’s my least favorite color-but that comes from my builder dad going through his green phase! Everything he owned was green! No one could budge him on using it! Thank God he grew out of it!. I was so happy he moved on to a linen white phase! Having said that, I actually like the sage color you used! Great job!
Lord I can't get over how THICK it is 😂. I'm rather intimidated by it. So glad you used it. Furniture flipping teacher just used the same paint and color too.
This paint finish looks really smooth & rich, worth considering especially with less stages to go through… interesting to see U both & hear Ur backgrounds you both come across as really natural in front of the camera, enjoyed this video, thank U 👏👏
Bonout A& D! I just love your channel, such an inspiration for me and to all... and yes! I really should of started with a small project, after 3 months, I just finished my free super dirty and disgusting 9 drawers dresser from the ‘60s. You guys have a great dynamic like my husband and I when working together. Have a wonderful weekend and have fun! Christine 🇨🇦
You guys are truly a dynamic duo and congrats on the whole journey. It's not over yet but I see you're both enjoying it. Keep it up! Love your makeovers Andrea! I've watched way too many videos, I decided to start flipping a secondhand furniture. :)
Very nice nightstands. I love the colors and the paint is very different and interesting. Thank you for the tips and encouragement for others to try flipping and redoing furniture.
Loved this video. You guys are a perfect inspiration for anyone, whether it's b/c of y'alls communication and dynamic as a couple OR flipping furniture. Thanks for sharing y'alls journey. Cheers from a fellow Texan 🍻 As far as age, here I go and I'm hoping I do not offend anyone. Ladies first: Andrea: 27/28 tops Dean: 30 /31
Absolutely beautiful! If we lived closer I would have you paint our master bedroom furniture! We will be married 44 years in October and we bought it back then brand new! ❤️❤️
You guys are awesome together! So this comes to mind: When we cast our bread on the waters ( as in talents in this case), in 7 or 8 ways we never what may return in times of trouble. Your bread is now returning to you… #word. This was a joy to watch! Btw: I flipped my first ever dresser and put red oak frame on it customer designed from your videos. I painted it with bin shellac twice, in Behr Chalk paint /lazy grey x 2, then added some Matt polycrylic to chalk paint and did two coats. I filled in holes and chose new hardware - that part was a right saga as the drawers were so thick I needed to go and buy new screws. Two visits to Lowe’s and the guys there were awesome and guy showed me a new tool for cutting screws. I too have two side tables I saved to try some valspar paint on. I was going to do the whole dresser but decided it maybe a bit risky after so much work prepping.. so I love you advice to try out new things on small pieces ( as I just held back from trying paint I have no clue about on a big project) I’m going to send you guys an email of the piece I flipped … I did it mainly because of what I’ve learned on this channel! Thank you. Finally I will look into that paint. I was beginning to think the furniture flipping world had sold out to Dixie Belle and Fusion mineral paints. I do love fusion paint have not used Dixie Belle yet. For beginners it’s good to know economy as well as quality. The Behr chalk was under $20 at Home Depot for @980ml ( no delivery) and it is beautiful and I have some left after doing a 9 drawer dresser two coats. I paid $23 (500ml fusion mineral paint ) x 2 plus $11 per pot deliver. Many beginners can’t afford that ( neither can I unless I begin selling it ), so I think trying promoting small business is good and also using a variety of products helps viewers think about what they can afford. The End 🤪
Thanks so much, Claire! This has to be one of my favorite comments, that is a principle we live by and Dean says often!! Way to go refinishing your first piece, that is no joke and a lot of work! I actually just found out a local shop carries the Dixie Bell all in one coat (I think called Silk) and I plan to try that too, along with another new all in one brand. But yes, I do love the Behr chalk paint and that I can pick a really specific color with it and pick it up any time!
@@diywife Dixie Bell Satin is an amazing product! Fellow Former Aggie👍 here and I couldn’t agree more! My kids go there now and it amazes me how much it has changed since I was there. Unrecognizable! I absolutely love your work❤️ Thanks for taking us on your journey 😀 Gig’em👍
Never having redone a piece of furniture before, how do you determine what steps to take (sanding, priming, type of paint, top coat etc) to do on each kind of wood? And how do you figure out what type of wood your piece is especially if you say pick it up on the side of the road or good will? I noticed in some of your videos you do different steps for each piece so I'm just feeling a little overwhelmed on what basics would be good to buy when just stating out! Thanks so much! Great duo work! :) 😊
Your first piece should be something simple like one of those side tables. Check it out all over looking for any type of damage that needs to be repaired cracked or missing pieces of veneer, mold, bubbles , water damage, broken feet or compromised structure like loose sides. As a beginner try to get it as close to perfect or something you know you can fix. Wash the piece off scuff sand with a 120 grit sand paper, prime thr piece if it is dark or red toned unless you are painting it a dark colour, then paint it whatever colour you desire, then top coat with polyurethane or wax. Make sure you wait the proper amount of time between steps for coats to dry properly. Or use Beyond Paint that claims you don't have to do all the steps I just said and just paint it. But always, always, always wash and rinse your piece first. I hope this helps you. My first piece was a 3 drawer dresser,I looked at it in a dark corner of an estate sale, it was ugly but though I could pretty it up. We got home and I realized it was toast. Only one drawer actually worked, the others had Vaseline on the slides to help them move. Mold at the bottom of the one side. I was upset but I didn't give up. I removed (treated it with lots of sunlight and hydrogen peroxide) the mold. I removed the side panels and building a kitchen island with it. I'm still working on it but I have already built a kitchen island from scratch. You can do it. Don't invest alot in it at first in case you don't like it. Also a cheap way to get paint are oops cans from hardware store. I find home depot the cheapest ( oops paint are can that someone wanted but didn't take because it wasn't the exact colour they wanted so the store discounts it)
I love all your Morning Glorys by your driveway. I had them at my old house and my husband got mad at me for planting them because they started to take over our garage, lol. Loved this video! I liked the vlog style parts and getting to know you guys more. Age 37-39????
I love your channel. Told my sister about your channel, now she is watching you. I would love to know what your floors are, they are beautiful. LOVE them.
I was worried about spending so much on paint, but I'm definitely going to try Beyond Paint. Thanks for the great videos! (I'm guessing you're 29 yrs old)
I love your channel, it's so fun and gives great ideas for beginners. Wow. I noticed some rude people on here. Don't let that get you down. Some people are just unhappy I guess and have more time on their hands because they've pissed everyone they know off. I guess they have to get online and bring people they don't know down! You're channel is fantastic, your creations are beautiful and anyone who disagrees doesn't have to watch :) Have a great weekend!
Awesome job - I’ll have to check out that paint 🤓! Looks interesting and could be a big time saver! Also, loved the behind the scenes - ha! you guys are very entertaining! Keep it up 👍
Watching you stir the green paint made me hungry. Looks like guacamole. It goes on well. The sage green is a great colour. Very neutral. Will be interesting to see how well it adheres compared to chalk paint. -
I love your channel!!!😍🥰 I just let it run through every episode. I was wondering what’s in the small tube that you mix with the Bondo All-Purpose Putty & why do you add it to the putty?🙏🏾
Both nightstands turned out very nice but I also think your custom leg base would be a good look on the shorter nightstand. I’ve painted many things in 45 years and have never seen paint like that, thicker than thirsty biscuit gravy (gravy that didn’t get enough milk). If we’re guessing your ages, me thinks Dean might be a few years older than Andrea, so I’m guessing Andrea to be 35-36 and Dean 37-39. Thanks for sharing more of your daily life with us.y’all are fun!
I have a nightstand just like the second one you painted. I was so hoping you were going to remove the skirt around the bottom and add feet, Great job though!
Hi! Sorry I am late to the videos but love them so far!!!! And you are so beautiful!!!!!! Question- What did you do to fix the one wobbly table that had the 2 drawers? I am very new to this and want to make it a side gig! Thanks in advance! 😊
