Dude, you made it WAY harder than it needed to be. You don't have to remove old housing. You also should pair it inside your cab using the power cables BEFORE you mount it to the back of your camper.

That’s great, I wish mine was like that. I bought this particular camera thinking I would not have to take it off.

I didn’t have to remove my old one.... I guess I got lucky. Good video!

Thank you for the video. Now I am confident of buying one. People can install them in different ways. Stainless screws good idea, and resealing should not have any problems. Basically want it to help changing lanes, since my new truck came with small mirrors and dealer wants 15 hundred to change them out, a piece,because I want all the goodies exactly how my mirrors are. So a 5 hundred dollar camera is alot cheaper then 3k. And I am retired so I can take as long as I want to install.😀 some say I can sync it to my truck monitor. Will have to see about that one.

Just bought this unit for the expandability. I notice on the reviews (amazon)that some people mentioned that they could not figure out how to shift the screen to 1 camera vs 3 or 4. You show it will go full screen. Main point, stainless steel screws.

Why not just put the new camera into the existing mount so you dont have to remove it?
@FLWeekendWarriors
@FLWeekendWarriors 4 года назад
That was my original plan. But the camera is a totally different unit, its just one piece. The one on the back of the camper is just a dummy that looks like the camera and is the exact same shape.

@@FLWeekendWarriors I have the same camper and was able to just put the camera in with out taking the housing off.

They already provide the housing for the camera itself. Do not remove the mounting plate gasket or the sealant! Just remove the dummy box from the coache's center mount (4 screws), remove the new camera from the new housing it came in (4 screws), and place it into the existing housing already on your coach. If yours didn't allow this then it sounds like they short changed ya.
@FLWeekendWarriors
@FLWeekendWarriors 3 года назад
Jason Chipkin that’s exactly what I thought and the reason I bought this camera, but my dummy did not have the 4 screws. Many others have commented that their dummy had the screws and did not have to remove the whole dummy.
@tmoney80
@tmoney80 3 года назад
I just did mine as well. The 4 screws you removed at the beginning of where you're standing on the ladder at the back of your rig are the 4 screws everyone is talking about. You also have to take the same 4 screws out of the new camera body, then you swap the dummy insert with the camera body (the piece you remove form the new camera body). According to Furion this works for any pre-wired system
@davidpeterson1228
@davidpeterson1228 3 года назад
I can’t figure out why you went to all the unnecessary trouble to completely remove the frame and seal. All you needed to do was unscrew the camera from the frame, then screw it into the existing frame.

Do you get good enough visability on the blind spots while driving with just the back camera or do you recommend the side marker cameras as well?
@FLWeekendWarriors
@FLWeekendWarriors 3 года назад
It would not hurt to also get side marker, but I have no experience on how well they work. My big truck mirrors are pretty at the blind spots. The rear camera really helps when changing lanes in determining when it is safe to cut over.

When I connect mine the light is blue but the night vision lights blink on and off and it won't connect. If I have it connected to the cigarette lighter with he screen it works but not on the actual camper and mine is pre-wired for this camera and also powered with the running lights like yours. Any suggestions?
@FLWeekendWarriors
@FLWeekendWarriors 3 года назад
olopez0769k not sure what you are describing. Not getting power to camera with running light on or camera not connecting to monitor. If not connecting to monitor, I would call Furrion. If no power to camera, may have to run a separate wire from a running light. I have seen several threads of people complaining that the pre-wired dummy had no power.

So i am guessing that the Camera does not have to be a Furrion Brand? Just remove the housing on the TT and install any brand? I am wonder if the voltage stays on all the time or is it connected to the Running Lights?

@@FLWeekendWarriors Thanks for the Reply FL-- that is how my old Camper was and if i wanted the Running Lights on all night or use the Camera Monitor at that time i used the Fuse Jumper. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5nrydxuc8u8.html

Just to be clear, is this a backup camera? Or an observation camera where you can observe while driving down the highway?
@FLWeekendWarriors
@FLWeekendWarriors 3 года назад
Depends on what power source it is hooked up to. Mine was pre-wired from the factory to come on when the running lights are on. So In the daytime I turn on the running lights so that the camera is always on. At night, it is on automatically because both the headlights and running lights are on. I use it more as an observation camera for changing lanes than backing up. My wife is back there anyways and giving me directions when backing.

I dont mean to sound like a broken record but like the last comment said, you made it harder than what it is. Pair first in your truck and the bundle that you have comes paird already by default. Remove the cover on the housing at the back of rig, the 4 screws and unscrew the camera from the housing in package and WALLA ... its on the rig without taking apart the factory housing on rig. just my 2 cents for the next installer

OK Warrior this is a good video of sorts. But it seems like this is only a partial when you consider that there is nothing shown about the main brain system with the video screen installation bracket, wiring and how to use the monitor. Maybe put in the Pros and Cons of the system too so we all have a better understanding. Somewhere else I read you can override the power supply you use with the lights. Add a fuse line for power instead of using up the battery with all the other lights burning on the line. Otherwise good camera angles and clear voice was good! Cheers Les

You’re supposed to put the camera in that housing. Not remove the seal around the one attached....
@Investingwithcole_

a lot of work for nothing. Already prepped from factory. just install the camera into the existing bracket. good to go. no need tp apply additional sealant. install should have took 3 minutes. Need to pair camera with screen before the install.

why did you remove the old housing and gasket? You didn't need to do that. My camera mounted to the prepped mount . I just plugged it up, made sure it worked with the monitor, then secured it. Your way was waaaaaay wrong.

The camera should be removed out of the mount it shipped in and then mounted in the factory installed mount. You should not need to take the mount off the trailer. see this install video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eGzZ423onuk.html

I was hoping for that but the factory mount was over tightened and the screw holes had cracks. On top of that, there was too much loose wire hanging out and I had to take everything off in order to stuff the wires back inside.
@akenstone1

Why didn't you show a review while actually using the camera to back up into a campsite or parking space?? Seems like a basic practical use. I have one and as far as I'm concerned it's pretty much worthless for backing into a tight space. No way to tell really where the edges of the camper are, in relation to any of the surroundings. The backup grid doesn't stay on. Have to keep touching it to turn it back on. And it has no relationship to spacing and surrounding objects. Am I doing something wrong then?

I can not believe you made the hole in the seal bigger when all you had to do was push with through the hole and why would you pull so much wire out of the camper when all you needed was the black wire with plug. And why did you not put fresh caulk on it and in screw holes to stop any leaks. Wow, there is no way you read the directions and it is people like you that messes people stuff up because you act like you know what you are doing
