Rika, I must agree with everything you've said here. I don't care if people think "OMG She's a furry, that's so weird and gross UGH" Because I tell everyone I'm a furry with no fear. I think I'm very open and extroverted. And, most of my friends really don't care. They might be like "Oh, cool!" And ask me questions, be furries themselves, or just kinda go with it. Like, I like My Little Pony. I'm okay with people knowing that. Who cares if they don't like what I like? That's normal! Just be who you want to be with no fear. Like what you want to like with no fear. Just be yourself. Who cares what others think? You'll always find people who will insult you for your interests, but you'll always find people who will become your best friend because of your interests. There's an upside to everything. And to me, the main upside to the furry fandom is that everyone is friends no matter what, and that you can be yourself.

Good grief, why do Furries have to be so freakin' inspiring? Stop inspiring me, dang it! Why can't I just peacefully wallow in self loathing and doubt for once? I finally got over my depression and started drawing again because of you people! Good grief!!

most fandoms call furries creepy basement dwellers when in reality, most of them are very social and kind people :) I hate the fact that people focus on the bad and creepy furry things and don't pay attention too the good in the fandom. Every fandom has a sexual side, and people focus on the sexual part of the furry fandom because they are different.

I don't think furries r...um...like that...I think they represent caring, freedom, and they just look awseome. Who cares what people say. There cute and awesome!

Uh those suits cost thousands of dollar$. Not everyone is willing to do anything sexual in such an expensive costume. For the few who are? What's the big deal? Most of the human race has put on and done sexy things in some sort of sexy costume. Just open your eyes on any given Halloween night! Why is a dog suit any different than a witch/angel/vampire? (some of the most popular halloween costumes which by the way are NOT human.) In fact nowadays it's hard to find even one girl alive who hasn't at one point worn a sexy cat ear halloween costume. Furry is no different from Halloween. It's a once a year event where you can dress up and hang with friends. It's not rocket science...

Please stop making fun of furrys I don't see whats wrong with them all you haters just sometimes make no sense :/

I may not be a furry, but getting to know furries is actually awesome. I have many online furry friends. Who have been criticized for what they are instead of who they are. Same goes for the whole fandom. It's sad really. But if there is going to be those people who are going to hate on my comment with 10 year old insults. Guess what? Congrats! I've been a furry for almost 3 years now and I haven't had a problem with this fandom most of the time. It's the first fandom I've been in and definitely one of the best I've been in.

I've been trying to educate myself about the Internet, and I started with furies... This has extremely interesting. I never would have thought this culture would be so interesting. But, a question: Was "Animals" the best song choice xD

There are so many things to hate in this world. Why waste your time on a small friendly community of people dressed in cuddly suits?

it's just about having fun and being yourself by wearing a animal costume based off your personality.

I'd consider myself a furry (although very new to the fandom) and as im digging deeper everything seems so much more in-depth then any other fandom, and people who would rather be animals? Pretty creepy, but furries who just like drawing anthro animals (like me) seem normal enough (by my standerds). Putting emotion and such into this is artistry and this needs to be more recognized by the art community as well as other fandoms and people in general. 4:00 the part were you said "there is no age" just wanted to ask, do you think it's really true? I really want to be a fursuiter but I'm only 12 so people keep telling me stuff like "no your to young" and "wait till your 18" and lots of "you'll just grow out of the suit" (witch is why I want a partial) so, is there REALLY no age? Or does that not apply till your 18?

I have a problem with this video. You explained that your friend told you that "furries are people who dress up as animals and have sex" and then you never cleared up the what a furry really is. And then when you went and said "A furry is just a person who is interested in anthropomorphic animals." using the word "Interested" Really doesn't help the case either, you should call them "fans of anthropomorphic animals". The closest you came to clearing up what a furry really is, is when you explained how you talked with that person and told them about "what a furry really is, and how the media has just been destroying our reputation" But you never cleared up the true image in the video. I'm not trying to hate or be prejudice against you or the video, but I think you could have used better words and/or statements to define the concept and message you were trying to send. It's impossible to keep the media off our tails, but being very undefined and lacking clarity is what is going to help the media ruin us.

So far by one of the best documentary's about furry's. I must say that also that what makes this special is that, it is so true and so correct on that matter, in just 6 mins. Its also amazing that some of these things happened to me as well, which I take as a coincidence ^^ Overall, this is a fantastic video, and I would love to meet Rika and because she is so intelligent about this, and her fur-suit is amazing! :D

Im sorta new to this stuff. I have a character in my mind, a hyena named Themba (Not the hyena as my avatar), but i cant draw for shit nor do i have enough money for fursuits. I would love to be more involved but i don't know how, does anybody have constructive advice?

I always liked to disguise as animals and monsters since little. I don't consider myself a furry, just a performer that likes to disguise because it is fun. Sad, I don't have the resources to make a costume myself but I enjoy the creativity of those that can afford to craft themselves such cool fursuits. Thanks for sharing this little documentary.

Furries in my opinion are awesome. They are open and they can have fun and be who they want to be (hopefully with a grasp on the real world... not saying that to be mean, but if anyone is like a certain friend of mine, that means they wouldn't spend much time trying to get a job, which if it happened to my friend, I know it happens to some other peeps out there). The first time I found a furry was at my school and I saw a kid wearing a crocodile tail. Me, loving zootopia and all things like that, thought it was really cool. Walking with my friend I said, "hey dude, did you see that girl with the crocodile tail walking around?" And he said, "yeah, she's a furry" To which I replied, "oh! I wanna be a furry!" And he said, "NO YOU DONT! They're people who dress up in costume and have sex!" That instantly put me off of furries for a long time. A while later, I decided to look up furries again since I had been seeing a few videos on them in my recommended. Turns out, they're not just people who dress up and have sex and are in fact just a fan of anthro animals! And I was like, "heck yeah! That perfectly describes me!" And that's how I became a furry.

Hello there from a fellow wolf furry, I just wanted to say that your Furry Document was very well said, thank you for sharing this video it was inspirational, encouraging and very helpful :) I've only been fursuiting since late June of this year so I'm still getting used to wearing the suit though the two times I've done so has been so much fun especially when seeing someone smile and ask if they can have a hug.

The thing is i'm a furry,but I purely feel more like a animal then human, I was raised ignored and in to tending nature I wanna be able to run on all fours and climb up the biggest of mountains ,and be able to hang with people like me, I imagine myself everyday as a anthro sort of animal, but being a human, With the body shape, It doesn't feel right, but I feel better when i'm imagining myself as a animal, I don't wanna be human , it does not feel right at all.

I like furries, but I don't go crazy and dress up as one... But I do like them.

I wish I had found this video sooner... it's such a great video to show to haters or people who believe we are all just "yiffers". I love being a furry because I can show the world I can be outgoing. I also love walking around and making kids smile. I am quite an introvert, but when I'm in suit, I feel like I can do anything. When people ask me in a disgusted tone, "Ew... are you a furry???" I just tell them, "HELL YEAH I AM!!! AND YOU, MY GOOD FRIEND, PROBABLY DON'T KNOW HOW ACTUALLY NICE WE FREAKING ARE!!!" And then I'll end up awkwardly slinking off after trying to explain that we dress up to raise money for charities, children's hospitals, animal hospitals/rescue centers, and just want to make children happy. I am not afraid to call myself a furry.

I think that's furries are really unique and creative! I personally wouldn't go out wearing a fursuit or even label myself as a furry, I do enjoy looking at anphropromorphic animals and REALLY enjoy Disney movies such as Zootriopoils (Zootopia) however, once I'm not watching it, I don't really fuss over it too much. But I do think that furries (obviously not the very few weird ones who do things I'd rather not say) are pretty cool people and others should stop judging them just because they personally wouldn't do what they do. So all I have to say to all you furries out there is keep doing what your'e doing, as long as it makes you feel happy!

When I was younger I was obssessed with animal movies Animal movies like, Alpha omega, Simba the white lion, lady and the tramp, frankenweenie, the little mermaid, olive the other reindeer, the lion king. I have a cat named "honeybee" its skinny and has an emo like hair cut, I saw a skinny emo guy i was like "HONEYBEE". I drew my cat with skinny jeans and glasses with emo hair then I knew the term "anthromorphic animal" and I started calling honeybee a anthromorphic animal. My mom was watching a cringe video with furries I saw and I was like "they are so cool". I watched a video of warrior cats I liked it, my favorite animals are: spiders, rats, wolfs, dogs, black cats. Am I a furry?
