if your parents agree to be a handler, that's great, but you NEED to warn them about what they will need to do. if you don't, your parents might be like, "oh, okay, it's alright, the kid's just pulling on their tail, they shouldn't feel it."

My handeler just yells on the top of her lungs when a kid is coming

tail pulling is the absolute worse!! i swear, so many people pull my tail (i don't have a suit yet) and they use the excuse "oh it's there" like really?! that's like someone coming up and grabbing someone's butt because its there.

Should try wearing a totally green shirt next time so you can be just a floating head & handpaws! Love the new intro animation too! I would say it's definitely good advice for inexperienced fursuit handlers. Though I sometimes joke with friends that flipping the birdie is probably the most universally understood hand signal =p

Being a handler sounds like its basically being a baby sitter. A... Fursitter if you will. Sounds like a lot of responsibility!!

I only have a tail and tail tugging is the worst. I have a plethora of bad anxiety disorders so I'm constantly worried that my tail is damaged when it gets tugged. Consent is very important, and not just only when suiting, it's important for every situation. Stay safe and hydrated full suiters and partials suiters! Actually stay hydrated period.

That actually happened to me once at a con! Long story short I was playing with other suits and started to feel really out of it, the headless lounge was across the con and my handler thought it would be better for me to just take a brake right there. I walked away from the other suiters and took off my head to get some water and cool off. Less then a few minutes later the two other fursuiters came up to me.. now I thought they were going to ask if I was ok.. it did not turn out that way. So I look up at them as I was sitting down and the first thing one of them said to me was " Why are you breaking the magic " and " could you have not walked to the headless lounge? We have one here for a reason " I was shocked by this, before I could say something my handler kindly said " I'm sorry but I felt as if my friend or the suiter here needed a break, and as a handler I thought it could have put her in harms way to walk to the headless lounge, I made the decision and I'm sorry if that's a issue " the suiters looked at us for a second and walked off as if nothing happened, now though my handler and I laugh about it! But it does happen and I thought it was funny you mentioned it in this video! :)

This is so helpful!! ♡ speaking of fursuit horror stories, here's an extremely scary one for you, with a good lesson at the end: I had a friend not too long ago go to the park here in florida. It was the first time he wore his fursuit in florida, because before this month he lived up in Pennsylvania, which is rather cold. His husky fursuit is about two years old and he had commissioned a man up in his hometown to make it. (it was very well made, but the inner head foam was cheap) Well, it was about 90 degrees, and we were making sure to get water every now and then, as normal. But after about half an hour, my friend could not remove the head of his fursuit. He also told me he had a burning sensation that was growing at his neck, and when I tried to remove his head for him (I thought it was because his arms were weak) We found out that whatever foam was used in the head had melted into the fur, locking the bottom layer of fur to the actual suit. Long story short we had to get someone in there to (sadly) cut his fursuit to get him out of it. He got out with only Minor burns, because he had been wearing a thin hoodie underneath his suit because of how uncomfortable the head was fitted. Goes to show all of you CHECK WHAT FOAM IS USED IN YOUR HEAD BEFORE GOING SOMEWHERE WITH HIGH HEAT!!!!!!!

The best thing at a huge convention is to have a harness with a semi-short leash so in the crowds you and your handler do not get separated. *IF YOU ARE NEW TO THE FANDOM PLEASE WATCH THIS WHOLE VIDEO, IT'S VERY HANDY!*

I've had kids hitting my but, punching me and punching the suit. And just people dont wanna leave me. I went to the toilet once when fursuiting, and the kids were banging on the door and trying to open it. Like I was at the toilet! I didn't have any handler, so I just took of my head and told them no. XD My worst fursuit excperience!

At Build-A-Bear they sell these Slicker brushs that are designed for plushies and fake fur of sorts, has anyone tried to use one on a fursuit?

I gave this video to my handler (my cousin who is too a furry) and he's pretty good at it.

I’m a Jawa/TIE Pilot in the 501st and we use the thumbs-up/thumbs-down method for “are you okay” since we try not to talk in suit either! If you don’t have super toony hands that’s a good method. Also, I will ECHO the “we can’t see/hear/feel” so please don’t let your costumed friend run into things! Shove as much water at them as you can! Also remind them to EAT!! It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of photos and the energy of the con and forget to. You could pass out (like I did) from low blood sugar. Love you Pocari! Question: can you wear glasses in a fursuit?

This video helped me a lot when me and my ex BF were out dancing, we weren't in suit but as soon as he started acting strange my mind immediately went back to this video and i remembered everything that Pocari said in this video, it helped a lot and he only ended up being a little sick the next day but yeah, it was super helpful. Honestly, I’m gonna ask my friend to be my handler. They know I love a certain kind of water, they also can tell when I’m hot, as my knees start to bend and I sit down a lot, I also start to shake as I’m very sensitive. Honestly, they are awesome. Thanks Morgan!

Fun fact: I've had such serious dehydration issues before, I know that I need water around an hour before any more signs show up! (I get dehydrated easier than most people so a water bottle is a must for me at all times)

Hey I just found your channel I just got into furrys so far I love your channel

100% true scary story. So my friend decided to put her fursuit on my other friend and be the handler. So they ware walking around while this kid fell from her bike and she just sat there. When she noticed my friends, she started running at them at full speed. The handler was like "...kid..." And about two seconds later the kid just bumbed her helmet into my friends stomac to give her a hug. Thankfully, my friend was okay.

Tip with drinking water: if you don't have a moving jaw, i recommend buying a metal straw, it makes it a lot easier to drink and you wont be wasting plastic with a normal straw!

I've never been fur suiting in public but this is super helpful! I will definitely send this to my sister if I go fur suiting in public and ask her to be my handler. Love your videos! 💙

My son sent me this video and as a parent, you're advice is pretty common sense and i like it :) Truth is, it's like going on an outing with your kids and remembering to pack everything you will need for that outing and dealing with other people as needed if there's a situation.... Any parent should do this, lol but it applies very well to the furry community to :) Love your suit by the way, it's my fave color

You now have my favorite video for showing new handlers that want some tips. Thank you! Also something that absolutely drives me nuts. When handlers think they have to hold your hand to do their job. I don't know if it's just me but every handler I've ever had has tried this with me. It is very awkward. Always ask your suiter if they want to be guided this way before just grabbing their hands.

That thing about heat stroke is good for regular cosplayers to know too! Someone I knew who was in a very light cosplay had actually passed out at a convention because they weren't drinking, but five seconds before they were running up and down the hallways full tilt! ALWAYS be sure to water your friends!

pocari you're one of my favorite furry youtubers! you're super knowledgeable about suiting. good to see someone with a lot of subscribers giving out some good information. Also, i'm a fursuit maker and i've done a lot of tests with different brushes. i've found that normal round hair brushes work very well, almost better than slicker brushes. they can gently pull mats apart and don't tear out your fur and damage seems. and for short fur (shaven fur or normally short fur like beaver) i find that the best thing to use is a fine-toothed straight comb. short fur doesn't get nearly as ruffled up and unruly like long fur does, so you don't need a huge brush to go pulling out non-existant tangles. i find it actually tends to do more harm than good (as well as leaving dumb looking streaks in the fur instead of smoothing it). the straight comb is gentle on short fur and does wonders for smoothing and styling fur, even long fur. so if you're in need of sprucing yourself up for a fursuit photo, use a straight comb!

I think that first, you should be a handler and then start thinking about being a suiter, because being a handler can teach you about level one fur suit care. It will also teach you about responsibility. I am currently looking for one of my friends that are a furry and need a handler sometimes, I am training and collecting gear for that day. I get taught about diabetics because my best friend is a type one. If I become a handler, and they show any of these signs, or pass out, I kinda want to learn how to get a suit off as quick as possible while putting little damage on the suit and human inside.

I really do like your videos, you're real about this sorta shit and you don't sugar coat it like I've seen a few other RU-vidrs do, I've noticed it multiple times and I respect it. Keep up the amazing work here 👍

A few days ago actually, I was suiting. I was at a non-furry event with some others who understood what a fursuit is. It was called a "cosplay prom" and it was for teens. I was there just suiting around, and I decided at that event I would talk, since I didn't have a designated handler. Some teen comes up behind me and hugs me. I immediately turned around and told him off. BIG TIME. I said, "You dont just come up behind someone and start hugging them do you? My vision is EXTREMELY impaired and I cannot see past a certain point!" I said more but i was so angry I forgot what all I said. But I did show him my vision. And since I cant wear my prescription lenses (and dont have contacts) under my suit, I was pretty much blind. Later, this same teen tried to pull off my head and I told him off again.

This is SO helpful because I am a handler for 2 of my very best friends. Thank you so much pocari!
